Layne took the two grey ponies hunting this morning. Ol’ Kirby isn’t sure what to think of this life yet. 😅
I sure hope they get along, they’ll be spending an awful lot of time together from now on. 😅

Layne left the trailhead well before daylight and Dale is one of the most trustworthy mountain horses so Layne decided to ride him instead of Kirby. Kirby is sporting the pack saddle today and never questioned it for a second. 🤙🏻

‘Tis a good day.

Got the registration on our new weanling. Half brother to Powder, raised by Nick and Sam Ladwig with Rock’n 7 Diamond Quarter Horses. 😎🤙🏻

As a general rule of thumb we DO NOT buy horses out of the “kill pen”….
But on Wednesday Layne noticed this little dude in the yards and went and checked him out. The check in ladies were told “he kicks and he hates men.”
With a giggle and an understanding of these types of horses, the gavel dropped with Layne as his new owner.

We are very excited to introduce “Kirby” to the saddle string. He had about 45 minutes of an introduction to boundaries and manners and he’s (almost) as cool as Dale. 😉
Layne rode him the last two days and took him back to work the feeder sale today. He’s got the burs brushed out and his feet trimmed already. 🤙🏻

Kimes sire is one heck of an all around type horse! Part of the deciding factor in our prospects is proven/versatile parents and “Louie” definitely checks the box!

Kimes is the c**t we picked up from Tien Quarter Horses in Kansas the end of September.

Layne named him Kimes because he’s classy enough to take to a Black tie affair and sturdy enough to go to work in!

He’s gotten lots of time to adjust to his new normal and our facility and then entered into our “full program”.

This is for the “non-believers” in our ground work. This is Kimes first ride.
With an excellent pedigree and a well rounded training program, Kimes is destined for greatness. 😎🤙🏻

Hudson just really is one of the kindest geldings we’ve ever owned. He acts more like a retired ranch horse than he does a 4 year old. He loves love from everyone. ♥️

It’s a beautiful day to be busy!

We finally finished up our hay hauling for the year yesterday and Layne and Kaycee were already down the road at 7 this morning to pick up a whole load of posts to finish up our next two projects!
Layne and Kaycee will get home around lunch, and then Addie and I will take off down the road in the opposite direction to gather some fence panels.

It’s a beautiful, relieving sight to see our visions and goals coming together after 10 years of working to get here.

Stay tuned for the finished projects over the next few weeks!

The Lord has indeed blessed our family and business, and rewarded my husbands hard work. ♥️

In the past I’ve gotten the comment “I don’t want my horse at the sale barn. All they do is straight lines, mindlessly following cattle down the alleys.”

Well… maybe the last trainer you sent your horse to did, but around here, our horses use all of their body, all of the time. Layne is constantly keeping them in check, soft in the face and body. Moving off leg pressure, etc.
Sale barn miles with Layne aren’t just miles. 🤙🏻

I’m still doing barn chores, and Layne is still hauling hay, but we’re blessed with a beautiful show tonight!

Houston, we have a problem… 😵‍💫😵‍💫

I was updating our training schedule and somehow I accidentally deleted the entire thing. The undo button doesn’t work, and I never saved a hard copy of it as it changed all the time.

I have horses booked clear into spring of 2027.
If you are on our list anytime between now and then, PLEASE REACH OUT so I can make sure you’re in the lineup.

What a mess. 😭
