Yes, yes, YES 🙌🏼
If your dog wants to say hi to someone, they will make the effort, trust me! I see this in 90% of the reactive dogs I work with. When Someone asks to pet your dog MAYBE 1 out of every 20-30 people know how to appropriately greet them. Which means your dog is suddenly being thrown into a situation with a MASSIVE amount of pressure. So much so that it will make them regret any decision or even thought they had about being ok with strangers.

I’m out in the public A LOT with dogs and I can tell you, I hardly, if ever come across someone who knows how to greet a nervous dog.

When in doubt, I always tell my clients to politely say “thanks for asking but we are learning to ignore strangers”. You don’t need to go into detail. Especially for your nervous dogs bc those people tend to take it on as a challenge to become your dogs best friend…

Advocate for your dogs! Most of us arnt comfortable with a stranger coming up and putting their hands on us, it’s not fair to assume our dogs would be any different.

Rally run throughs!!!!

When: Thursday July 24th
Time: 630pm til finished
Where: Peter’s Creek frisbee golf course. There is an open grassy area down to the right
Cost: $10 per dog unlimited runs (cash)

This will be a great opportunity to practice your skills before the trials! All levels welcome! Please comment or send me a pm on which level you’re looking for so I know what to plan for.
This isn’t for people brand new to rally. This is for those who have some knowledge on how to follow the signs and those who are competing. I’ll be happy to answer any questions!

Teach impulse control as a learned behavior vs something that needs to be commanded.
That way I have a puppy choosing to make the right choices vs always having to be told 🤗

I actually really enjoy teaching impulse control! It’s never too late to teach this behavior but teaching them as puppies sets them up for great success!

My Na’vi pup is 4.5 months old 🥰 and although he was very hot in these videos from today, he’s still a super pup that enjoys training. This video has way more than just impulse control and some things I just showed him for the first time today 🤗 I didn’t give a single correction 🫶🏼

Na’vi is 18 weeks old today!

Last night was the first time he was able to lay on his side by himself while I did his nails 👏🏼
Nail maintenance is important so I start my pups young learning to be ok with getting them trimmed. Lots of being calm, reassurance and patience goes a long way!
