My friend and mentor Karen Anderson was awarded the American Chesapeake Club's Lifetime Achievement Award at the 2024 national specialty held a few days ago in Wilmington, Ohio. During Karen's 55-year commitment to the breed, with support from husband Ron, Chestnut Hills Kennel in Monrovia, Maryland produced a record-setting six Best of Breed awards at ACC national specialties. Add to that the three Best of Opposite wins. Add to that the many Best of Winners and Winners. Those who know the breed ring also know that this award for Karen was long overdue. I am posting photos of Karen and some of her most winning dogs, including three-time BOB national specialty winner CH Chestnut Hills Stone E's Tug. I am also sharing the statement submitted to the ACC's LTAA committee for those wanting to know more of Karen's legacy to our breed. I want to thank Karen for entrusting me with a Tug pup many, many years ago. It's been a great journey. And it's an honor to call Karen my friend and mentor.

Here's Dudley!
Chesaka Dudley's Shooting Star (BeBe X Barnabus) did a thing in the 9-12 month puppy class at the Kenai Dog Show last weekend. He was the only boy but went Best of Winners over four girls to get a major win. He's just 9 months old and has a lot of growing to do, but as one judge told me previously, "He has all he needs in the right places." Dudley, the goofy pup, is growing up. His sister, Chesaka's Hear Me Rory (Rory), got reserve. She's on her way.

I want to thank Judge Nancy Simmons for finding both my pups in the ring. I want to thank Sophia Dressner for stepping in when most needed and helping Dudley show his best side to the judge.

Chesaka Dudley’s Shooting Star picked up his first point today at the Alaska Sporting Dog Association show in Chugiak. Judge Nancy Talbot awarded Dudley Best of Opposite S*x and said “there’s my goofy puppy”. In looking at these photos, I think she was right on. He does look goofy. But he’s only 8 months and tried really hard in the ring today. Dudley is a doll. He’s my doll.

Isn't this just the best photo of Jennifer Kletzli and her girl Serena and the rest of us (Mary Pemberton and Robyn Langlie) with our BeBe/Barnabus puppies at the Tanana Valley Dog Show in Fairbanks? Jennifer was at her first dog show and handled her pup herself to Reserve Winners! And she made the monogrammed dog bandanas for the four siblings.

As a breeder, what could be better than this? Four BeBe and Barnabus puppies, now almost 8 months, at their first dog show in Fairbanks, Alaska. From left to right: Serena, whose mother Jennifer has Chester, the pup I called "Tux" for the distinguished white on his chest; Me (Mary Pemberton) with her two pups from the litter, Dudley and Rory; Robyn Langlie with Trapper whose making an auspicious beginning to his show career and Jennifer Kletzli, who got a second with Chester (defeating Dudley) for her first time in the show ring. Fun was had by all. And thank you Jennifer for making the monogrammed dog bandanas!

Robyn Langlie got Best Puppy at the Anchorage fun match and then second place in puppy sweepstakes with her BeBe-Barnabus puppy. It was their first venture in the show ring. Go Robyn and Trapper!

Dudley loves to carry anything and everything in his mouth. One of my rubber boots disappeared from the front porch. Found it in a wooded area on the other side of the house. Dudley, you a funny boy.
