Today I said goodbye to my best friend. 16 years 6 months 27 days wasn't long enough. KB entered my life when I was 18, between my freshman and sophomore years of college. I found her in a newspaper and just had to have her. Going to college with a dog was the most fun I could've ever asked for. Together we created a dog play date group and helped push Stillwater to create a dog park. She spent countless hours with me while I worked at the pool, running through the beach when no one else was there.
KB went with me to my junior internship where we lived in Las Vegas for 6 months. We had so much fun hiking Red Rock Canyon. On the way there and back she went to LA and played in the Pacific Ocean. She visited the Petrified Forest National Park and the Barringer Meteorite Crater in Arizona. She also got to cross the Hoover Dam.
KB then went with me to my Senior internship in Galveston, TX. She loved the beach, chasing birds and crabs, and running through the water.
We then moved to San Antonio, Schertz, and finally Cibolo. Together we have lived in 12 different homes in 6 different cities in 3 different states. Along the way we have been to many beaches and state parks.
KB started me on my journey to loving animals and she has been a foster sister to hundreds of dogs and a handful of cats.
I've never been a very social person but KB pushed me to make friends and gave me the confidence to get out and try new things. She helped me explore new places that I would've never seen alone. She has been the one constant in my life since I was 18 years old. She's been with me through every relationship and friendship that has come and gone. She was even by my side when I found David.
I'm not sure how I will live without out you but I will find a way. Thank you for being the bestest best friend I could've ever asked for. Run free baby girl. You will always be with me.
