The sisters recently got to go on a date away from the shelter with our volunteer Patti. Take some time and read what they did…..
“I took the little sisters out yesterday. We went to Lonergan Park and sat in the shade for a while. These two girls are inseparable. The brown one definitely depends on the black one and the black one cannot get enough attention! We went to Petco afterwards for some treats. They are both so sweet and lovable and just happy to be with you. They were good passengers also.”

Our adoptable boy Ernest got to go on a date with our volunteer Caitlin to a family picnic. Take some time and read how their time together was….
“Took Ernest out today for a date to our family picnic and boy was he a hit. He is the easiest leash walker, was so happy to greet and say hi to everyone, and sat pretty waiting for some treats.
I am honestly not sure why someone has not scooped him up. He is SO GENTLE with everyone of all sizes and ages, relaxes and watches things going on, but also enjoys walks around to sniff while walking easily on his leash.
He had his own little plate of goodies from the picnic, found his favorite tree to “water” and fell in love with my husband Frank and shared some extra love. Ernest truly is the best boy and a great fit for a new family 🥺❤️ “

Our adoptable girl Luna recently had a date away from the shelter with our volunteer Kim. Take some time and read how their time together was…”Luna and I had a great time on our date! She was an excellent passenger in the car and was excited to see where our night was taking us.First stop was to help me at Safe Space, where she had a blast running around and checking everything out. She was hesitant about the fake dog down the hall and had to go check it out to make sure it wasn’t real! 🤣Next up was a stop to the pet store, where she was the goodest girl and sniffed EVERYTHING!! Luna loved exploring toys and treats and saying hi to other people in the store. She was curious about the ferrets and had to investigate the weird creatures in the glass box. Finally, a quick stop at Dunkin’ for a Pup Cup. She was too polite to devour it there but licked the cup clean when we got back to the shelter, keeping her eyes on me the whole time. Luna was such an excellent girl on our date and definitely earned herself a second date! ♥️
We are on day 14 of sharing the dates our adoptable dogs have gotten to go on with our volunteers. Today we are going to share the two dates that Mariah got to go on. First she went on a date with our volunteer April and her daughter Nora. Then she got to enjoy Towpath Day this past Saturday with our volunteers and was able to meet so many wonderful people. Take some time to read how Mariah’s date went with our volunteer April and her daughter Nora.
“We took Mariah out on a date today and had a lovely time! We started our date off with a nice walk to a dog-friendly cafe in Eastwood, The Cracked Bean Roastery. Pups are allowed inside this establishment and there’s fresh water outside for them as well! We ordered some coffees, grabbed a treat for Mariah and headed outside to enjoy the nice weather. Mariah is a curious, friendly girl. She wanted to say hello to everyone including people and other puppies.
After a refreshing drink and sitting nicely for some treats, we headed back to our car. Mariah helped Nora hit the crosswalk button when it was time to cross the street. She saw a “help wanted” sign at the laundromat and tried to head into the open door to see about filling out an application until we told her they were probably only taking applicants with opposable thumbs.
We saw a cheese shop on our way back to the car that had a pet-friendly sign out front, but they weren’t open yet. Mariah was understandably bummed, but she took it in stride and carried on with her bouncy step (and the cutest ear bounce I think I’ve ever seen).
To try to make it up to her, we headed over to petsmart so she could find a new toy and grab a tasty treat. On the car ride over, we enjoyed Mariah Carey radio on Spotify and Mariah seemed to be smiling with her head out the window catching a breeze and listening to tunes.
She picked out a toy and a treat at Petsmart after some serious deliberations about whether she wanted the Kong Wubba or the Lambchop stuffy. The

This fun and handsome boy is Alvin and he got to go on two dates! One with our volunteer Lisa and another with our volunteers Brittany and Krystal. Let’s see what they have to say about their time with Alvin.
“He is such a love! Super sweet and would love a secluded spot for a date with someone special! ❣️”
“We went to a ball field to explore. He likes fetch but needs some more coordination but he is so silly and happy to watch. His recall skills are very good and even though he is a puppy he settles in within minutes and is very chill. He got to explore on a long lead and we trusted him the entire time! He almost gets excited to check in with his people. He is a love bug. Does not seem bothered by loud noise as we were near a road way and airport. Overall he is so happy go lucky.”

⭐️ Feature Friday ⭐️
Our Feature Friday boy, Otis recently went on a date with our volunteers Brittany and Krystal. Take some time and read what they had to say about their time with Otis…..
“Otis hopped right in the car, we actually forgot he was in it! We went to Chapman Park. He is a water connesiour. He loved drinking out of the water dish! He saw a little dog and got very excited to play. He was super sweet just watching from a far. We checked out the water on Oneida lake. He had a good time exploring. He is so gentle and kind! He takes treats so politely”.

Our Feature Friday girl Brook had a wonderful time on her date with our volunteers Brittany and Krystal. Brook is hoping someone will see what a great girl she is and will come and adopt her. Let’s see what Brittany and Krystal have to say about their time with Brook….
“Brook’s date was amazing! She rides great in the car, definitely a back seat driver, but with the best intentions. Loves to be independent in a yard, but she had time to stop and smell the flowers. She thinks she is a grill master! Doesn’t beg around humans eating their dinner, she just did her own thing! Loves to explore. She is a hot dog connoisseur! Didn’t seem to mind dogs in neighboring yard, even ones that barked at her…she was the perfect angel!”

Wow, It’s August already! This month we have something special planned for our dogs. Being stuck in a shelter environment takes its toll on any animal, so this month we have asked our volunteers to take a dog on a “date”. This gives each dog the opportunity to get out and away from the shelter and have some fun time. The first “date” we want to share is of this little cutie, Oscar. Our volunteer Caitlin took Oscar on a nice outing and here is what she has to say about their time together.
🐶 “Went on a little afternoon date with the handsome “Oscar Meyer” today! We left from the shelter a little iffy of what was going on but quickly settled right in interested in all the stuff while we were driving!
Our date was at Van Buran park to sniff everything! We watched some geese wander around with no care to try to chase them, found every shade spot to roll in, walked through the woods and took in the scenery, said hi to a few new people, and passed by another dog with no care at all.
My date walks so good on his leash! He stopped on occasion to check in with me for a little treat, and loved watching the kids going by on scooters!
This little ham is SO much fun! After we got hot from walking all around, he laid himself comfy in the shade to relax and take in everything around him. He is so happy and content to just be outside with someone.
A little crazy, a little fun, and a whole lotta love! 🩵 Best. Date. Ever.”

Our volunteer Sara loves to spend extra time with our adoptable boy, Larry. Larry has been at B&R, waiting for his forever home for 441 days.
Larry would love a family who will play with him. He absolutely loves a good game of tug and would make an amazing running or hiking partner. Larry also has a snuggly side and will never say no to a good back scratch. Not only is he fun, but he is absolutely gorgeous.
A very special person has seen the good in Larry because his adoption has been sponsored. Who is ready to break Larry free from shelter life and give him the home he deserves?
