With sub-zero temperatures in the forecast, it’s essential to protect your furry friends from the cold! Here are some helpful tips to keep your pets safe and cozy:

❄️Bring Them Indoors: Even outdoor pets need a warm place to stay during extreme weather. Keep them inside or provide a heated, insulated shelter.

❄️Bundle Up: Short-haired pets may need a sweater or coat for extra warmth during walks.

❄️Protect Their Paws: Snow, ice, and salt can irritate your pet’s paws. Wipe their paws after being outside, and consider pet-safe booties.

❄️Watch for Frostbite: Frostbite can occur quickly in sub-zero temps, especially on ears, tails, and paw pads. Keep outdoor time to a minimum—just long enough for bathroom breaks or brief exercise. Signs of frostbite include pale or grayish skin, cold or hard areas, and pain or swelling. If you suspect frostbite, consult your veterinarian immediately.

❄️Limit Outdoor Time: During extreme cold, even pets with thick coats should only stay outside for a few minutes at a time. Always supervise your pets to ensure they’re safe and comfortable.

❄️Check Your Car: Tap the hood of your car before starting it to scare away any cats or small animals seeking warmth near the engine.

❄️ Monitor Water Bowls: Outdoor water bowls can freeze quickly. Provide fresh, unfrozen water if your pet is outside temporarily.
