Welcome to John's page! John lives with Dr. Jennifer Jaax of Jaax Veterinary Hospital (https://www.facebook.com/jaaxvet). He "helps" at the hospital daily. You can read his rescue story below and follow his antics here.
In late March 2021, TriState Noah Project (https://www.facebook.com/tristatenoah) received a message from an acquaintance of the family who had John (named Nuke at the time). He asked for help because the family was talking about dumping John. His owner could never afford veterinary care and recently moved to a place where pets were not permitted. She left John with her parents who considered him a nuisance and also refused to help him.
When John was rescued he was sore to the touch and had several scabs and open wounds. John cried if touched. He was 8 years old and had never seen a veterinarian. John was taken to Jaax Veterinary Hospital (https://www.facebook.com/jaaxvet) to see Dr. Jennifer Jaax. She determined that his loss of fur was due to a severe yeast infection left untreated. He was promptly started on treatment. John also needed to be neutered and had serious dental problems. Dr. Jaax decided to take John home for a few days instead of leaving him alone at the clinic.
Little did anyoneβincluding Johnβknow at the time, but his life was about to take a turn for the better.
In addition to the horrible physical neglect that John endured, he began showing behavioral signs of abuse. He was a sweet dog, but was not going to be an easy case. When approached to be petted he would flinch. He was hesitant to come out of his cage at the clinic and was not housebroken. In spite of everything he had experienced, he immediately bonded to Dr. Jaax and quickly became her shadow.
Despite his behavioral issues, including marking everywhere, Dr Jaax did not feel it would be in his best interest to leave her home so she adopted him! Now he goes to work with her at the clinic and is living his best life, learning daily that people can be kind and life can be fun with his new human and furry friends!
Now you can follow his progress and antics here.
