Our Executive Director is cooler than yours. 💁♀️
Carolyn volunteered for the dunk tank today at Northside Yacht Club's anniversary party! Thanks to everyone that donated to support CAC and have some fun at the same time. 🥳
There's still a lot going on at NSYC's 9th Anniversary Party & Cincy CARE Fundraiser: Dunk Tank, Slap Booth, Deep Fried Coneys so come on down to hang out with us!
🌭 The doggy hotdog eating contest starts at 4pm!
Finneus Enrichment
Finneus, like most of the dogs at the shelter, was so excited to get a bone in his kennel he couldn't help but do a lil dance 🤗
Enrichment treats are a great way to keep dogs entertained while they wait to find their future homes at the shelter! Activities like licking, sniffing, chewing, digging can all be great ways for dogs to enrich their natural instincts and get energy out! It helps them deal with big feelings, calm their emotions and tires them out!
If you would like to help make a dogs day while at the shelter, sign up to volunteer and help make enrichment treats and pass them out at both our Colerain and Dane locations!
Sign up to volunteer: https://cincinnatianimalcare.org/volunteer/
Not able to volunteer but still want to help out? Donate enrichment items off our wish list to keep us stocked and ready to make treats for the dogs in need!

🙏 WE NEED YOU, CINCINNATI! 🙏
We're on pace to take in 450 dogs this July, which is 100 dogs more than any previous July in the history of our organization! Now more than ever, we NEED our community to step up for the homeless animals of Hamilton County.
➡️ ADOPT: Now until July 21st, adoption fees are $0 thanks to BISSELL Pet Foundation's Empty the Shelters adoption event! From July 22nd to 31st, adoption fees will be $15!
Our normal fee is $75 which helps offset the cost of daily care, preventative vaccines, and spay/neuter – but if waiving the adoption fee can get just one more animal out the door and into a loving home, we are willing to take the loss financially!
➡️ FOSTER TO ADOPT Don't know if you're ready for the commitment of a new family member? Foster a dog for up to 7 days to see if they're a good fit for your home!
➡️ FOSTER: Love animals but don't want the financial commitment? Fostering is free and easy! Our matchmakers can find the right fit for your home and all supplies, food and medical care are covered by CAC!
➡️ SHARE: If you can't adopt or foster, please share to help us find the people who can! 🙏
‼️TOMORROW is the last day to participate in our Dog License Amnesty Event + $5 Microchips and Free Annual Vaccinations with License! ‼️
🚫 Don't Harbor a Fugitive! 🚫
Ohio State Law requires all dog owners have a dog license and register their dog each year. Similar to how you have to get new tags on your car every year, you also need to register your dog.
📅 If you missed the January deadline to register your dog, don't worry! Today and tomorrow you can get your dog license for the standard price of $19.75 (as opposed to the late fee of $38).
When you get your license during this time, you can also get your dog microchipped for only $5 and get annual vaccines! ✨
📍 Stop by 3949 Colerain Ave any day from 1pm to 6pm and get your dog licensed, microchipped and up to date on their yearly vaccines.
Thank you to the Hamilton County, Ohio - Government commissioners for making this amnesty event possible for our community!
Best Friends Animal Society is challenging us to help our community "Bring Love Home" this month – and we're stepping up! To help our adorable cats & dogs find their families, we are reducing our adoption fees to ✨$5!✨
Come by either of our locations on June 21-23 during our ✨✨EXTENDED HOURS✨✨ from ❗11am-7pm❗ to speak with our matchmakers and find the right fit for your home. Or browse our website and if you see an animal that's listed in foster care, email [email protected] to set up a meet and greet. With over 600 adoptable pets, you will surely find your new best friend!
*Reduced fees are on all adoptable animals 6 months of age and older whether they are on-site at the shelter or in foster homes. This fee does not include the Hamilton County dog license if you are a resident of Hamilton County.

Meet TK and Ross, the heroes who donated blood for emergency blood transfusions for the St. Bernard, Asgard, who came in as a stray on Friday. ❤️
Heroes always have motives for their heroic acts, and ours are no different:
🐾 TK says he stepped up like any good boy would do to help save the day. He's very humble about his new clout and only wants the people to know that blocky-headed boys can be heroes too!
🐾 Ross was really just in it for the chicken nuggies. The risk has to be worth the reward, and in this case donating blood was worth it for the nugs. His heart was in the right place though. 🤷🏻
Both these hero-pups are available for adoption and currently located at our 3949 Colerain Ave location! You can meet them any day between 1-6pm.

💔 Asgard Update:
We received an update from our Medical Director this morning that unfortunately Asgard passed around 4:30am today. On Friday when TK and Ross donated blood, Asgard's heart stopped beating while in our clinic, but our team was able to bring him back. Unfortunately, once a patient 'codes' once, they're very likely to do it again.
Thanks to Ross and TK, Asgard was given a fighting chance. As your Hamilton County shelter, we're proud to be able to provide lifesaving blood transfusions on-site and will continue providing the highest quality medical care to every animal that walks through our doors.
We hope this silly video provides some comic relief to a very sad update. Thank you to everyone who donated and shared Asgard's story. 💔
Forget the skateboarder Tony Hawk—our Tony Hawk is the true dynamo you need to meet! 🛹
Throughout the month of June, Tony will be hitting the campaign trail to find his future family. Tony has been in care since July of 2021 and is more than ready to find his future home!
As Tony's foster likes to say, "Tony isn’t disabled ENOUGH for his wheelchair." With his jacked front legs, Tony’s part-time wheelchair gives him hyper-speed, making him the fastest pup around.
Tony was born with a curved spine that hinders the full use of his back legs, but he hasn't let anything slow him down! He's as fast as lightning and full of life. When he's not tearing it up at the skate park, you'll find Tony lounging by the fireplace like the royalty he knows he is, or snuggling with his four-legged foster siblings, soaking up all the love and warmth he can.
Help Tony find his future family by sharing his story and our future posts about him throughout the month of June! #ItsTonysTime 🛹

Pack Walk with shelter pups: In Honor of Breanna Goslin
Breanna Goslin was a loving and passionate foster and volunteer for Cincinnati Animal CARE. She unfortunately passed away November of 2023 and we are taking this week to honor her memory and compassion for shelter animals.
In her year of shelter advocacy, Breanna logged 184 service hours and took 56 dogs on day trips. She had a special gift for making those around her smile and bonded so truly with each and every dog she spent time with. Breanna and her sister made this video encouraging new fosters to sign up for day trips and short term fostering before she passed.
We are celebrating her memory and love for animals with a "Pack Walk" on her birthday and we encourage friends and our community to join us. To learn more about this event and let us know you will be attending, please see our event link below and we encourage friends and family to share their favorite memories of Breanna in the discussion page.

✨ Part 2 of a Day in the Life of a Hamilton County Dog Warden! ✨
On this call, one of our Dog Wardens secures a stray puppy who was wandering around a neighborhood for a few days. The puppy was scanned for a microchip, but sadly didn't have one so the pup came back to the shelter for their mandatory 72 hour stray hold. (And they're currently safe and sound in a foster home!) 🏡
🎥 Visit our TikTok or Instagram Reels to see a very uneventful Part 1 where we respond to a call about a dog running at large in a local park. 🐕🦺🏞️
🎥 And stay tuned for Part 3 where we meet back up with the puppy at the shelter and go over the intake process! 🩵
#ACOweek
Cincinnati Animal CARE has an amazing medical team that goes above and beyond to provide care for all our animals. We always have animals on-site receiving basic, critical and long-term care. These are just a few of our dogs available for adoption or foster who are, or recently were, residing in our clinic ward for a little extra love and attention. If you aren’t able to foster or adopt, please consider becoming a monthly donor to help us continue supporting these animals. Even a few dollars goes a long way! See more information about monthly donations with the link in our comments.
🎨 Tortilla is showing off his artistic talent 🎨 Adopt Tortilla at 3949 Colerain Ave and take home his artwork to display in your home! Tortilla is a fan favorite at the shelter, loved by many staff and volunteers because he is such a good boy. He currently resides in our Behavior and Training office because the kennel environment is a bit stressful for him. Take him home to foster/adopt and give him a much needed break from shelter life! He prefers to be the only animal in the home, loves car rides, pup cups and hikes! Tortilla is very smart and sweet, knows several commands- one being to go in his crate when it’s time to leave! All animals six months and older are $9.99 until tomorrow 4/8! Stop by 3949 Colerain Ave or 4210 Dane Ave from 1pm to 6pm!
