Meet Irving, the sweet and lovable pup who recently came to Cincy CARE as a stray and quickly stole our hearts! ๐Ÿพ๐Ÿ’™ When he arrived, Irving had some scabbing and cuts on his snout, but his wagging tail and affectionate nature shone through right away.

A staff member even shared this adorable note after spending time with him in the office:
"Irving loves soft beds and getting tucked in under cozy blankets for his naps. Heโ€™ll shuffle them around until theyโ€™re just right, and always wants a blanket on top of him when he lies down so he can be extra cozy." ๐Ÿ›๏ธโœจ

Thanks to all the love heโ€™s received, Irving found his way into a foster home where heโ€™s thriving! He came in today for a check-up, and weโ€™re happy to report that his nose is healing beautifully, heโ€™s gaining weight, and heโ€™s loving life with his foster family. ๐Ÿ’–

This is post is to assist in the rehoming of an animal. Penny is not currently at the shelter and this is rehoming assistance so she doesn't have to spend a day in the shelter. If you or someone you know can provide a loving and safe home for them please reach out to [email protected]

Penny is around a year old. She loves to play and is medium to high energy. She can be a bit rough with play with other dogs, so would do best as the only animal or in a home with a dog with similar playstyles. She does well with cats, but slow introductions is recommended.

She seems to be potty trained, knows sit, shake and down and does well in the crate. She loves to learn and is very smart!

We're thrilled to share that Lady Bug left the shelter today to head to a foster home with one of our dedicated staff members. Sheโ€™s in high spirits, walking around, though sheโ€™s not yet using her front right leg. Sheโ€™s eating well, wagging her tail nonstop, and soaking up all the love from people around her. ๐Ÿ’–

Even though our Medical Director was off-site last night, she provided crucial support via FaceTime, guiding our on-site medical team through emergency care to stop the bleeding, stabilize Lady Bug, and suture her wounds. We're continually amazed by the dedication and expertise of our medical team, who go above and beyond to save lives every single day.

Cincinnati Animal CARE is URGENTLY SEEKING INFORMATION regarding a report of a man who shot a dog at the 3300 block of Beekman Street, at approximately 6 pm, last night, January 9th, 2025.

Hamilton County Deputy Dog Wardens responded to an anonymous call placed to Hamilton County dispatch from the 3300 block of Beekman Avenue on 1/9/25 at 6:10 pm, for a report of a gunshot wound to a dog.

When deputies arrived on the scene, they found a dog who had sustained a single gunshot wound to her face and was actively bleeding. Several young children had gathered around the dog and covered her with a blanket, shielding her as they could from the elements. Deputies Burling and Simpson loaded the dog into a kennel and called our Medical Director, Amanda Gilbert, who advised the deputies to bring the dog to our clinic at the shelter.

Once at our facility, our medical team immediately sprung into action, and with the guidance of our Medical Director via Facetime, they worked to control the bleeding and stabilize her. โ€œLady Bug,โ€ as she was named by staff, spent the rest of the evening recovering in our clinic.

Today, after further investigation and care, it has been determined that the bullet entered through the right side of Lady Bugโ€™s forehead, traveled through the muscles in her head, through her neck, then through the shoulder, and out the back of her leg near the elbow, causing a fracture in her leg. Unfortunately, her leg will likely need to be amputated in the future. We are monitoring her blood count in case she needs a transfusion, but so far, sheโ€™s doing well! We are proud of the quick action by our deputies and the elite level of emergency care by our medical team.

Without your help locating the suspect, this case will be closed, and no justice will be served for this animal. She cannot speak for herself, so we will speak for her in this pursuit of justice.

Don't forget to get your 2025 Hamilton County Dog License! ๐Ÿชช

We were lucky enough to have Jessica Miranda, Our Hamilton County Auditor stop by for a tour of our Colerain Facility earlier this month and meet some of our dogs!

It is required for all dogs living in Hamilton County to have a Hamilton County Dog License. Get yours today from Cincinnati Animal CARE or the Hamilton County Auditors!

โ—๏ธHaving your dog licensed makes it easier to reunite if your pet gets lost, and it is the only legal way to show proof of ownership for your dog. โ—๏ธ

Get your license now through January 31st so you don't have to worry about the late fees!

๐ŸŒŸItโ€™s time for our End of Week recap! ๐ŸŒŸWe started off this week strong with accomplishing our goal of 5k adoptions and beating our record of 5050 animals adopted in one year! ๐ŸŽ‰๐ŸฅณThen we celebrated more adoption wins when our friends Captain Kirk, Pond, Zuko, Lil Mama, Konga and so many more were adopted! ๐Ÿ˜ธWe also completed our 1,000th cat transfer to finish out 2024! ๐Ÿˆโ€โฌ›We started off the new year with a 99ยข adoption promotion, New Year New Home, where 90 animals were adopted even with an early closure! A lot of dogs are enjoying breaks from the shelter in foster homes! ๐Ÿ ๐Ÿ’› some exciting foster wins are Calvin, Cassidy, Tropic, Dina, Ronald and so many more! Sunday we closed early due to the weather but not before our dogs got to enjoy a snowy play group! โ„๏ธ

โœจAnother exciting week at Cincinnati Animal CARE! โœจ our pups got a special treat for Christmas and got to pick out a new toy! They had a blast choosing their own.๐ŸŽ We are even closer to our goal of 5k adoptions and had a great week of foster and adoptions! Some highlights are: Honey, Wendy, Valentino, Ispy, Chumpkin, Apple Butter all were adopted! ๐Ÿฅณ Pond, Captain Kirk, Amos and Chop went to foster or foster to adopt! We have so many new friends that are available for adoption and foster, and some old friends that need a break from shelter life like Cassidy and Thanks. Stop by the shelter to meet any of them! Don't forget to get your 2025 Dog License!๐Ÿชช Now for sale until the end of January, then the price doubles! ๐Ÿฑ Exciting week in Kitty City with multiple cat transfers in. If you are interested in fostering a cat, email [email protected]! We had some lovely volunteers help walk dogs and pass out enrichment Christmas morning. Happy Sunday! ๐Ÿค— This week we have had some great adoptions and foster pick ups for our Silent Night foster event! We are so close to our goal of 5000 adoptions for 2024! ๐Ÿฅณ Some highlights are: Niko, Sionis, Jerry and Theo all getting adopted! Aria, Roger, Johnny Bravo, Amos, Mike Wizowski and Pimm all went to foster for the holidays too! โ„๏ธThere are still a few days left to sign up to be a Silent Night foster! Give the gift of a home to a shelter dog in need and foster through the holidays! Any fosters who pick up before December 25th will be entered to win a fabulous prize! โ„๏ธ Keep your foster for 2 weeks or more and be entered to win a weekend stay at an A-frame Cabin! ๐Ÿก It's license season! Don't forget to get your 2025 Hamilton County Dog License before the end of January! ๐Ÿชช Donate to our pet coat drive and our wish lists/fundraisers to support our Dog Warden's and Community support team who work hard every day to give back to our Community and help people and their pets stay together. โ˜บ๏ธ The shelter will be closed early December 24th at 4:30 and closed for the holidays December 25th.
