When we made our fire pit in the front yard I was afraid it would look like you were pulling up to the Clampett’s but we took the chance and I loved it!
This past week we made the fire pit a permenent fixture and gave the previous graveled fire ring a glow up and had it poured with concrete. Perfect upgrade for the fall.

Welcome
Welcome our newest additions to our little farm! Thank you Mt. Healthy Hatcheries
Our property has an old barn (no idea how old) and on the back of the barn was a room addition and we turned that addition into the chicken coop.
A few months ago when a big storm came through and a tree fell on the addition. The damage left holes in the coop when it shifted the foundation and walls.
Luckily the fallen tree didn’t hit the barn just the addition so we came up with a plan to take off the no longer safe addition and turn the old barn into the chicken coop.
Step one of our extreme chicken coop makeover is adding a concrete floor in the soon to be coop; not only will this make it easy to clean but to protect the ladies from any critter burrowing up to get them.
Did I mention this is a much bigger space and I’m already looking at getting more chickens??? Perusing Mt. Healthy Hatcheries website now!

Little chicks
Mama chicken brought her chicks out into the chicken run this morning.
She’s busy teaching them to peck and they seem to be liking getting out of the coop. But mama is wstill being very protective to not let the other ladies get to close.

Our elderberry has grown leaps and bounds this year!
On a ridiculously hot day-51 chickens were moved out onto the pasture to spend the next 4 weeks happily pecking around in the shade.
Whole chickens will be available for purchase the week of July 15th. If you place a preorder (before 7/14) discounted price of $3.50 lb/ $4.00 a lb after that.
We may have a new barn cat
Frank was enjoying his morning sun bath in the front yard while Bryan and I were in the living room sipping coffee. Frank starts barking-barking a lot. Bryan walks to the door to see what’s going on and looks back over his shoulder and says my least favorite words.
Donkeys got out.
Thankfully the boys were wonderful and more interested in having breakfast instead of Gus and Danny’s big adventures and followed us up to the barn and are happily enjoying their start to the day and Frank gets a few extra treats.
