This week of is ! Take a look below to see the most common dog toxins and the effects that these toxins can have on our canine friends.
⚠️ Chocolate: Hyperactivity, heart issues, gastrointestinal upset, seizures, and death
⚠️ Onions and garlic: Anemia, gastrointestinal upset
⚠️ Human medications: Many medications are toxic to dogs, including but not limited to, Tylenol, Ibuprofen, Aspirin, decongestants, antidepressants, and heart medications. If your pet ingests any human medication, it's best to contact your veterinarian, Care Center, or ASPCA’s Animal Poison Control Center immediately.
⚠️ Rat poison – Internal bleeding, seizures
⚠️ Xylitol – Low blood glucose, liver failure, and death
⚠️ Sago Palm – Irreversible liver failure
⚠️ Bread dough – Gastrointestinal obstruction or blockage
⚠️ Macadamia nuts – Weakness, gastrointestinal upset, tremors, lethargy
⚠️ Grapes and raisins – Kidney failure
⚠️ Alcohol – Gastrointestinal upset, seizures, lack of coordination
