Three👑🥰

He’s king of the male mischief. Excellent temperament, gentle, kissy, squishy, and still as playful as when he was 4 weeks old! He is an important part of my efforts to improve temperament in all of my lines.

🚨 Why It’s Crucial to Choose Ethical Rat Breeders 🚨

When seeking a pet rat, choosing the source is crucial. Here’s why it’s essential to opt for ethical breeders:

1. **Animal Welfare at Stake:** 🐾 Ethical breeders ensure the well-being of their rats, providing appropriate housing, nutrition, and veterinary care. In contrast, profit-driven breeders often compromise animal health and comfort, leading to poor living conditions and suffering.

2. **Health and Genetics Matter:** 💉 Ethical breeders invest in the health and genetic integrity of their rats, conducting thorough health checks to minimize hereditary diseases. Non-reputable breeders, however, may neglect these practices, resulting in severe health issues in rats.

3. **Humane Breeding Practices:** 🌿 Ethical breeders follow humane practices, avoid overcrowding, and ensure proper care. In contrast, unethical breeders may excessively breed their animals without concern for their well-being.

4. **Support and Education:** 📚 Ethical breeders provide vital guidance and support to new rat owners, crucial for understanding proper care, diet, and behavior. Lack of support can lead to pet neglect.

5. **Avoiding Rat Mills:** 🚫 By choosing ethical breeders, you stand against rat mills where animals are bred in deplorable conditions, often resulting in sick and traumatized rats.

6. **Impact on the Community:** 🌍 Supporting ethical breeders promotes better practices within the breeding community, setting a higher standard and encouraging improvements in animal care and ethics.

# # # Important Consideration:
Please keep in mind that while there are ethical breeders focused on feeder rats and those who breed both feeders and pets, buying a rat specifically bred as a feeder doesn’t constitute a rescue. It can inadvertently impact the supply of food for other animals. In many regions, especially during summer and winter, ethical feeder breeders often struggle to meet demand, leading to stress and concern for those relying on their service.

In conclusion, sourcing your pet rats from ethical breeders isn’t just a preference—it’s a necessity. It ensures you get a healthy, well-adjusted pet and helps eradicate inhumane breeding practices. Let’s prioritize the welfare of our pets and foster a community where humane treatment is the norm.

Choose wisely. Support ethical breeding and make a difference. 🌟🐭

Gnocchi’s litter is 1 month old today. There will be 4 boys available for adoption at the end of August.

These babies are playful, exploratory, and energetic. Great pets for someone who enjoys training tricks, allowing free roam opportunities, and activities like dig boxes!

I will never understand the culture of gatekeeping and blatant harassment in the “pet rat community”. ESPECIALLY between breeders 🤦‍♀️

It’s ok to learn new things. It’s ok to change the way you’ve been doing things. It’s ok to ask for help and admit you don’t know everything! When you learn better, you are able to do better.

Science is real. Genetics are real. A basic understanding of genetics is so important in breeding, and access to all of the info is right at our fingertips! We all learned how to make punnet squares in 7th grade right?

Shouldn’t breeders be striving to always improve? If bettering the species is truly our goal, why is there so much vehement misinformation being spread by breeders?!Being educated and continuing your research is SO important as a breeder. One person cannot possibly know everything, which is why a supportive, helpful community is needed.

Anyone can pair rats and make babies. It takes the knowledge, experience, dedication, and ethical practices to make a great breeder.

The three available boys from Misty’s litter!
If you’re looking for more active male rats who love to play and explore, these guys are perfect!

My personal preference is for affectionate and interactive pet rats. A huge goal of mine is to avoid lazy, antisocial, aggressive, aloof male rats. Owning rats as a kid, I dealt with my fair share of poorly bred aggressive pet rats. Not anymore!

Think golden retriever personality… THAT is what I am breeding for!

Took some quick pics of the babies today! They are finally bouncing about and exploring. This litter so far seems more timid at first, but they warm up.

Will get some updates on the Misty litter later today as well when I clean cages🥰
