This Red Lizard fish is not happy about his photo shoot being interrupted by the other fish in the tank 😅
Lizard fish are a semi-aggressive sand dweller. They use their over sized mouths and torpedo shaped body to quickly chase off fish that are much larger than them. However, they can also use that big mouth to eat small ornamental shrimp or fish!

Found in clear, shallow fast moving streams, hump head glass fish are true freshwater fish. Best kept with active semi aggressive fish like barbs, danios and other tetras. Take them home today!
The coral systems are full! Come check out what we got in and take some home for yourself this weekend!
Anostomus ternetzi belong to a small group of fish called Headstanders. Headstanders get their name from their unique swimming behavior. They Will occasionally swim upside down scouring the substrate and rocks for algae and other microorganisms. When a large group is put into a large aquarium they will exhibit some cool schooling behaviors.

Check these guys out!!!!
We have plenty of White Neon Tetras in stock. These show plenty of color for being an albino variant, and they tend to be more hardy than normal neon tetras.
They are a great schooling and community fish!
Freshwater Tiger Moray
This freshwater tiger moray is certainly not a shy one. This guy will take it right out of your fingers. Watch out that food is not the only thing it grabs!
They don't call it a feeding frenzy for no reason! These guys sure do love their seaweed!

We love sharpnose puffers. The Atlantic Sharpnose puffer like the one above, is a type of dwarf puffer. Atlantic Sharpnose are known to be omnivores, esting both inverts and other nuisance algaels.
Don't let their size fool you though, they can be rather territorial.

You don't want to get in the middle of this feeding frenzy! Bucktooth Tetra are a predatory species of tetra. In the wild, their diet consists primarily of fish scales, in your aquarium however, they will thrive off of frozen and flake foods. They are not great with too many other fish, as they will harass them trying to eat those scales.
Fun Fact: Because Bucktooth's have such tough teeth, locals to the Amazon, will sometimes use these fish as a Brillo Pad to clean their dishes 😅
Think the nassarius snail is thinking, "why is this rock moving?" 😅
Sargassum Anglers (frogfish) are especially good at camouflaging with the actual rocks in the tank. Like this snail, fish can often not tell that this fish is not a rock, and quickly become the Frigfish's next meal.

In lieu of our tech Tuesday post with a highlight of one of our service tanks, we thought you might enjoy this time lapse that the customer in Hilton Head Island took. It’s about 10 hours of work condensed in to 30 seconds. Tank had been mostly pre plumbed here before we left. All we had to do when we got there was make the bulkhead connections.
Finished tank photos in the comments!
Here's a fish you may not have seen before. Pygmy Swordtails! Even though they are called swordtails, they are quite different from the traditional large swordtails, everyone knows. While they are easy to breed, they are quite rare to find in a LFS.

Can you imagine trying to protect 20 of your children by carrying them in your mouth? Our female geo cichlid is to the point that can't decide if she area more about the fry or the food.
Geophagus steindlechari are on of the mouth brooding types of cichlids. Once the laid eggs are fertilized by the male, the female will pick them up in her mouth and keep them there until they are fully developed. During this time, the female will not eat and will dedicate all energy to raising the fry.
Shipment days are always one of our favorites! Here's a sneak peak at some of this week's new items.
Gold Roselines are back! Many have asked about the ones in the freshwater display, well here are some you can take home to your very own display tank!

If you don't already have Otocinclus in your planted aquarium, you need to! These little catfish specialize in eating soft algaes and biofilms from plants and other smooth surfaces. They can be hard to get to eat prepared foods and will rely primarily on the aforementioned diet. They are peaceful and prefer to be kept in groups.

These clownfish are having a ball!
When the lights went out at the end of the day, our new shipment of clowns grouped up. This behavior is typically only seen in captive bred clownfish. It is believed to be due to the lack of being raised near the anemones that protect them in the wild. So it is assumed that, in captivity, it is a defense strategy.
One reason we love African Cichlids, they're not camera shy! Also, the male's adult colors can be some of the best in the freshwater hobby. You can see some mature ones in the video, but we also have juveniles available that will develop their colors as they grow!

Wishing you the happiest of holidays from our family to yours!
