Our nonprofit veterinary clinic provides affordable, high-quality veterinary care to keep pets healthy and together with the people who love them. We believe that everyone deserves the joy of a pet, and all pets deserve quality veterinary care. As the only resource of its kind in Greater Cincinnati, Pets In Need provides a positive alternative to surrendering pets to a shelter for those who have f

allen on hard times. There are no geographic restrictions and pet owners come from the entire Tristate area encompassing 15 counties and 127 zip codes.

A huge THANK YOU to Hyde Park Bethlehem United Methodist Church, Remax United Associates, and Julie’s Friends for their incredible donation of food, cleaning supplies, clothes, and more! 🐾💙 This generous contribution was made in honor of Julia Coyle. Julia was a dear supporter of Pets In Need, and we were proud to care for her dog.
Her legacy continues to support pets and families in our community, and we couldn’t be more grateful for the collective effort in her memory.

Today, our Executive Director attended Yoga for a Cause at Fretboard Brewing Co., benefitting our friends at Cincinnati Animal CARE. We love supporting our partners who are dedicated to helping vulnerable pets in our community. Special thanks to Abby Moore, Community Engagement Coordinator at Cincinnati Animal CARE, for her amazing work. Stay tuned—Pets In Need will be featured at the event on January 12th. We were honored to have Tony Coder, Executive Director of Ohio Su***de Prevention Foundation, visit Pets In Need. During his visit, we had the opportunity to show him our Chow Now Pantry in action, providing essential food and supplies to pet owners in need. 🐾
We also discussed the critical role pets play in mental health, particularly for vulnerable individuals. For many, pets are more than companions—they are a source of comfort, love, and emotional support, especially during tough times.
We’re grateful to be part of a community where the bond between pets and people is recognized as essential to mental health and well-being. Thank you, Tony, for your dedication to mental health and for visiting us!

Her journey with us began as a volunteer, grew into a board role that she has held for over eight years, and culminated in her role as Board Chair last year. Barb’s remarkable dedication of her time, talent, and resources on behalf of the pets and families we serve is truly inspiring. We’re incredibly grateful for her steadfast leadership and unwavering support!

With so many incredible shelters out there, we want to take a moment to highlight one that has made a big difference for us this week. A huge thank you to Cincinnati Animal CARE for stepping in and helping us out by taking in an abandoned mother cat and her kittens that were left at our facility. We are so grateful for the work you do every day to help pets in need. Happy Shelter Appreciation Week to all the amazing shelters making a difference in our community!

Meet Lucy, one of our sweet senior pups who visited yesterday! 💛 Senior pets may have a little more gray in their fur, but they’re still full of love, loyalty, and so much joy. As they age, our bond with them grows stronger. Senior pets remind us that getting older doesn’t mean slowing down — it means cherishing every moment even more. 🐾

As we gear up for the spookiest night of the year, let’s make sure our pets stay safe and happy:
🍬 No Treats for Pets: Be careful with sugar-free candies and gum – they often contain xylitol, which is toxic to dogs. Keep all sweets out of paw’s reach!
🦸‍♀️ Costume Comfort: If you dress up your pets, make sure their costumes don’t restrict their movement, breathing, or vision. Keep costumes simple and free of small parts they could swallow.
👀 Supervision is Key: Always keep an eye on your pets while they’re in costume. If they seem uncomfortable, it’s best to take it off.
🚪 Secure Space: With all the trick-or-treaters at the door, consider keeping your pets in a quiet, safe room to reduce their stress and avoid any escape attempts!

In honor of Pit Bull Awareness Day, we’re celebrating one of the most loyal, loving, and misunderstood dog breeds. 🐾 According to the American Temperament Test Society, Pit Bulls pass their temperament tests 84% of the time, ranking them 4th out of all breeds tested. This makes Pit Bulls some of the most affectionate and least aggressive dogs out there, despite their tough reputation. Let’s show some love to these incredible dogs today and work together to break down the stereotypes! 🐶💙

We’d like to extend our heartfelt appreciation to the Village of Lockland for their dedication to improving the West Wyoming Avenue business district. With several safety and beautification efforts already in progress, we are excited to see these positive changes taking shape. A special THANK YOU to our neighbor Bob Brown, along with his colleagues Yvonne Dishon and Margaret Wienholts from the Tree Commission, for gifting Pets In Need with a beautiful new tree for our clinic’s new annex property. Your commitment to enhancing our community is truly valued!

As the seasons change, fleas, ticks, and heartworms don’t go away—they can actually become more active in the fall and winter. 🍁❄️
Missing just one dose of preventive treatment can leave your pet exposed to these pesky parasites.
Stick with vet-recommended treatments and skip over-the-counter flea and tick shampoos or collars—they can do more harm than good! 🐾

Have you been to the Chow Now (Free!) Food Pantry yet? It’s open this Wednesday, Jan. 24—and every other week—from 10 am to noon. (While supplies last.) This Chow Now Pantry location, right next door to our clinic, is offered in partnership between Pets in Need and SPCA Cincinnati. Located at 516 W. Wyoming Ave. in Lockland. Anyone in need of pet food is welcome. No questions asked... ❤️ Click on audio to hear what one recent recipient told us after he picked up food for his pet. You can imagine how this provides a bit more peace of mind for this gentleman and other loving pet families...
