One thing we know for sure is that when our numbers at the shelter are lower, EVERYONE benefits 🐾🎉
Not only are the adopted dogs able to enjoy a home of their own, but the dogs still at the shelter get more of our staff’s time and attention ✨
That’s why we are so excited to offer $50 adoptions through the END 👏🏻 OF 👏🏽 THE 👏🏾 YEAR 😃
Can you help us spread the word⁉️ We have so many amazing dogs sitting in here waiting for homes, and we are hoping this price reduction will encourage people to stop in and take a look 👀 That being said, we always reserve the right to refuse adoption to anyone and do what we can to make sure our dogs get the best homes 🏡 Here’s to a Fall full of adoptions 🎉🎉🎉

Does anyone remember this sweet face?! 🥹
Our little Socks was adopted out as a puppy back in January, and was found roaming Circleville in early August. She is back and looking for her FOREVER home 🏡🩷
Socks is around a year old and loves everyone 💕 We believe this little mixed breed would be very playful with other dogs. She’s only around 35 pounds so she’s a nice size for a home with kiddos!
This gal is HYPER and will need lots of toys, exercise and attention 😉🐾 Call 740-474-3741 between the hours of 11am and 4pm to set up a time to meet this little princess 👑🐾

Did you know there are lots of ways you can support our shelter⁉️
Social Media 🐾🐶 This is an EASY one! The more comments, likes and shares a dog gets on Facebook, the faster they often get adopted because more people are seeing them. Let’s make our pups famous 🤩
Adopt 🐾🐶 There are some amazing pups here looking for their forever home 🏡 You can see them by searching for our shelter on PetFinder, following this page and visiting in person 🩷
Foster 🐾🐶 We don’t currently have a foster program; however, there are rescues who are sometimes willing/able to pull from our shelter if you are an approved foster or would like to become one 🙃
Volunteer 🐾🐶 We always need dog walkers, photographers 📷 and help with cleaning 🧼 🧹 We’d love to have you 💚
Donate 🐾🐶 We go through food, treats and toys pretty quickly 😉 We can always use more 💙 Beggin’ Strips and Canine Carryouts are big crowd pleasers 😍😂
If you’d like to join in this community effort of caring for our community dogs, let us know! We are all in this together 💙💚🩷
This gentleman was found at the Speedway on Lancaster Pike in Circleville this morning. No microchip or collar. If he looks familiar give us a call at 740-474-3741! 🐾

What better combination is there than a little salt and pepper?! 🧂🌶️
Don’t worry…this girl really isn’t that spicy 😉🤣 But her speckled coat is pretty adorable!
Pepper is the whole package when it comes to puppy love. She is gentle and affectionate - she LOVES giving sloppy wet kisses 😘 💋
She appears to be housebroken and would be highly trainable 🤓💡
If you are looking for a smart and snuggly girl, give us a call at 740-474-3741 to make an appointment 📅 She won’t be here long so HURRY 💨🏃♂️🏃

Red is dancing for joy now that he’s been adopted!
Little Red was very shy at the shelter and his adopter Joseph had to visit him twice before Red finally warmed up to him. We were worried Red might be at the shelter for a while because of his anxiety, but we are thankful for adopters like Joseph who are so patient with our rescue pups. As you can see, Red is happy as can be now!
Happy Tails, Red 🐾
Lets keep the good vibes going. Here is Sarge, with his new owner Matt Perkins. This makes what we do. so rewarding. A good boy given a chance to be himself, while bringing joy to Matt.
Meet Sadie!
How could you not love this girl?? We can’t believe she’s still here! She’s the perfect size and is as affectionate and friendly as they come. This girl LOVES people and needs a family of her own to love on. Bonus if you have kids! She loves to run zoomies and would be a great running partner. She loves to play with toys and doesn’t pull too much on the leash, and she knows a few tricks! She has a beautiful brindle coat and amber eyes. Her pictures make her look a lot tougher than she is, so you’ll have to come see her smile in person!
Sadie has been unsure about dogs in the shelter; however, this is a high stress environment and we’ve had many dogs leave here and do great in homes with other animals. Like most of our dogs, Sadie would need to be able to decompress for a few days in a quiet space and then have slow introductions to any other pets. We’re not positive but we think Sadie would chase cats. It’s difficult to tell in the shelter environment, but she appears to be house broken because she goes to the bathroom immediately when taken out. Sadie is not spayed but comes with a voucher to cover the cost at an area vet. She is 3 years old.
Most of our dogs will appear overly excited at first and may need to run a bit in the play yard before you will see their true personality. Please do not judge them by their kennel behavior. You would be excited if someone was coming to the shelter to see you, too!
For more information and to set up a meet and greet, give us a call at 740-474-3741.
This is The Official Pickaway County Dog Shelter page. Created to help our furry friends find a furever home! The following information will answer your questions about the shelter and what we do.
We have 42 kennels inside our heated and cooled building. We do not euthanize for overcrowding. Many of our kennels have been fitted with a divider that allow us to house 2 dogs in one kennel. Wire kennels are also used for smaller dogs when our kennels are full. We have had up to 80 dogs! Our goal is to promote adoptions and teach dog safety to children in our local schools. Our dogs are taken outside twice a day to allow us to clean and sanitize their kennels and to give them some fresh air. In warmer weather, they stay out longer to enjoy the weather. None of the dogs are housed outside. All are brought in at the end of the day.
We do not investigate humane issues such as dogs without shelter, food or water or abuse situations. Our local Circle Area Humane Society handles those calls. We are a separate entity and although we are in contact with each other, we each have our own requirements and responsibilities. We are responsible for picking up and receiving stray dogs and owner turn-ins. We do not go out on calls after 4:00 pm or Sunday unless we are contacted via our on-call phone by the Sheriffs department or local police stations to assist them when a dog is involved. The local townships are responsible for picking up deceased dogs.
If you find a stray dog and are not able to keep it confined until you can reach us, you do so at your own risk. Many people pick up dogs and then don’t know what to do with them afterwards if it is at night or on a Sunday. We understand that it’s important to keep dogs from getting hit by cars but if you decide to pick it up, you must contain it safely until you can bring it to the shelter or we can get out to get it.
We are a small staffed shelter. We cannot get to every call immediately but make it a priority to handle them as soon as possible.
