Skip Over Trouble Horse Rescue, Inc We are a 501c3 Org. and have wonderful horses some of which will be up for adoption. Please come visi We welcome visitors and volunteers !

We share our love and devotion with people, the horses and sometimes other animals that come here. Animals are usally starved, abused or abandoned, occasionally we do recieve owner surrenders that just need to re-home their baby. If they need retraining, we provide that and anyother need they have to find them a wonderful lifetime home. Some are sanctuary horses here because of age, medical or met

al issues they are best to stay with us until passing. Please call to make sure we are here then come on over.

Wander is fine ! Grace is doing awesome. She is out of the round pen and back into her paddock she’s really starting to trust me more and more. We do have her setbacks. She’ll like remember something and spook a little but she’s quick to turn around and come back to me so I am very happy with that.

Working with Grace yesterday and noticed Wander was showing signs of colic. Some horses are different than others but all do the “lip curl.” Along with that he was stopping his left leg, bending looking at his belly on left side and then went to lay down and roll. For us we give 12cc banamine shot, take food/ hay away and turn them out in the field with the other horses to keep them moving. If he would have continued behavior or gotten worse vet would be called. In this case after 3 hours we brought them in and he was still not allowed hay and ways checked throughout the night. He is good ! This crazy weather can set off a colic sometimes so pay attention to your horsss body language

Took donated and personal tack to Tack Shack Famous yard sale. Not as many people selling or buying as previous years but expected that. We did well enough to pay for farrier and another bundle of hay for the horses here taking off the burden of us paying for it this time. Donated tack makes a difference! Thank you to those who donated tack and or financially ❤️

Yesterday we hauled neighbors horse to Dusty Rose Farm as they have block barns. Our neighbor has a lot of trees unlike us and he is alone and does not have a herd to find comfort in like ours do. Last storm a tree fell on their horse trailer and they are not sure of amount of damage that was done to it. Better to be safe then sorry we are here to help ❤️

I decided to have some fun at open show’s with a friend. I use Wander . He is a 18 yr old standardbred/ appy cross and from what we were told he was owned and ridden by a guy most his life. When he died his wife sold him after awhile had passed. Jan Mock bought him and got him restarted in English doing small jumps, She thought he was younger at the time. She had some medical issues and re homes him a couple times but it did t work out. We took him in and Jeff rode him on trails with a hackamore , we had his teeth done and they aged him at 18yrs old. He has a gourder but it does not affect him. Jeff does not ride anymore for health reasons so I decided to give to have some fun with him. He is learning to be stalled in different places, lots of things going on around him and new skills ❤️. Here he is with me at WEC. We did not place here but we sure had fun and he was a saint. Don’t give up on rescues just find what they like and work on it !! Older is better 🥰

Look who is featured at Mill Creek Retirement for Horses. There is not other place that matches what Mary and her late husband started so many years ago. Their son Paul is now president ( I think) and continues the remarkable place. If you ever get a chance go their you will be astounded

MEET SKIPPY!
A 27 year old Paint mare, Skippy was rescued by Jeff & Penny Crosby of Skip Over Trouble Equine Rescue Inc. in Citra Florida.
After she was rehabilitated and adopted out a follow-up visit however revealed her to be in terrible shape and they were able to get a court order reclaiming ownership. A permanent retirement was then sought for her and she arrived at RHH in 2019.
Sharing a pasture with Apollo and Maggie this lovely mare with one blue eye and one brown is enjoying summer grazing with time spent under the shade of the oak trees.❤🐴

Look who I got to go visit today. He was one of the 5 unhandled mini’s / ponies we took in a long time ago. They moved to Anthony ! She named him Dipper and oh boy is he one lucky pony! He is friendly, perfect weight ( hard to do with a pony) loveable . I could go on and on about how well he is loved and taken care of. People like this and others in our adopted horse family and what make it worth it ! Thank you Caitlin Daniels ❤️

Starting the horses on this feed and the allergy mustangs will also get the Spirulina Chia additive. It is expensive to start but if you consider the small amount required and benefits of not needing balancer / Gut supplements ect. It will be so well worth it and works out to be about the same price. I’ll keep everyone posted on progress. I don’t expect overnight but within a month we should see a difference
