ABOUT BEN
Ben is a Grand Prix showjumper originally from England who emigrated to the U.S in 2014. After working in some of the best stables in Europe from a young age, he gained invaluable experience in the art of producing the modern jumper. During this time, he produced many young horses which went on to have a variety of careers; from nice amateur horses to international horses jumping at championship level. He also had the opportunity to gain invaluable experience in Grand Prix classes with many good results.
After a successful start he decided to travel to Florida, began another training,sales and lesson business running out of Valhalla Farm. He started many horses during his time at Valhalla with his patient approach of not moving to the next step in the process until the horse understands the current, resulting in young horses that could go in any direction. This time also reassured his love for young stallions with whom he found he had a knack for developing into willing, easy partners. Along with the young horses, he also had a steady string of jumping horses ranging in experience. Developing each one as a individual with multiple going on to jump Grand Prix. Many of the horses he was given to produce started out as less than willing partners, that trainers had previously written off as being stoppers or too difficult. It's from these challenging and problematic horses that Ben learned the most. With his tactful approach, he was able to find a way into unlocking these horse's potential with many going on to jump big classes with him.
Along with his own riding, Ben loves to teach. He has a great group of students ranging from young riders doing pony jumpers, to adult amateurs jumping big classes. He develops a program for each rider dependent on their level, making sure both horse and rider are confident before asking more of them. Ben's main goal with his students is to create a fun team atmosphere where training can be enjoyable for all.
