Happy 4th of July from Paws-A-While!
We want to wish all our furry friends and amazing clients a safe and fun-filled Fourth of July! 🇺🇸

We'll be taking a break to recharge our batteries and celebrate with friends and family until July 8th! We'll be back with regular business hours on July 9th, ready to pamper your pups again!

We want to give you a few friendly reminders to keep your pets safe during the holiday festivities:

- Fireworks can be scary for pets. Keep them indoors in a quiet place during fireworks displays.
- Be mindful of loud noises and keep your pet away from sparklers and lighter fluid.
- Make sure your pet has an ID tag on their collar in case they escape the yard in all the excitement.

We appreciate everyone's continued support and understanding as we take this short break! We wish you a happy and safe holiday weekend and look forward to seeing you all again soon!

Entries cannot submit a photo that placed in a previous contest year. This is a fun pet photo contest and the judging of the top 3 will be determined by members of the Spay-Neuter Animal Project (S-NAP). All proceeds from the contest will go to help support S-NAP and their 2024 projects. Winners will be announced on the PMDL and Clare Parks and Recreation pages on March 16, 2024 at 6 p.m.

Hello everyone. There has been a recent public post made in regards to a pet we had visit the salon recently. Her name is Lily and she came to see us on Wed, 2/21.

Lily came to us in severe condition. She was heavily matted, and soiled with buildup from a pre-existing skin condition. We spoke with her owner prior to beginning her haircut appointment and informed her of Lily's condition and the procedures we have in place when dealing with matted coats.

When a coat is in a condition such as Lily's, our only option is to shave underneath that heavy matting. Attempting to brush or dematt a pelted coat is traumatizing to a pet's skin even in the healthiest of conditions, which unfortunately Lily did not have to begin with.

We made the offer for Lily to be picked up if her owner did not consent to our need to shave underneath her suffocating coat. Our groomer was given permission to proceed as necessary.

All pets need to be groomed, and our staff works endlessly to make sure every pet that enters our salon is as safe and as comfortable as possible. Lily was treated exclusively with hypoallergenic products, our staff wore protective gloves while handling her sensitive skin, our equipment was kept cool and clean, and Lily was given breaks to allow her skin time to rest throughout her visit.

We are always completely transparent with our clientele. When we believe a pet is in need of any additional care, or in an instance of an injury throughout the appointment process, we give our utmost effort to thoroughly communicate with, educate, and inform pet parents.

While we were not able to speak with Lily's owner directly at pickup, we attempted to inform the family member who collected her of Lily's condition. He thanked us for our efforts with Lily that afternoon.

Lily's owner called us this morning (2/22) prior to opening, and again in the middle of our operating hours. Alex, our shop owner, returned her call to speak with Lily's owner personally as soon as he was available at the end of the day today. He was informed Lily would be seeing the vet tomorrow morning, and extended the offer to share the photos we have documented and are sharing here now, as well as speak to Lily's vet to explain each step of her visit in order to make sure her condition was thoroughly examined and understood by all parties.

Our compassion for your pets does not stop outside our doors. We share this information with you all to be upfront and honest. Your pets are our family, and we will always treat them with the utmost compassion when they are in our care.

... and that's a wrap! Paws-A-While's 2023 year has come to a close! We want to thank everyone for a truly fantastic year and wish you all a wonderful rest of your holiday season!

Our staff will be taking a well deserved break over the next week, spending time with friends and family alike and resting up before we reopen on January 3rd at 9:30am!

While Leo and Alex will not be on-site at the shop during our break, our calls, texts and Facebook messages will all be monitored. We are currently scheduling for the second week of January, so please don't hesitate to give us a ring if you'd like to get your furry friend in for a post-holiday pampering session!

The answer is NO! While expanding to multiple locations is something we'd love to do in the future, at this time Paws-A-While and its crew are located ONLY at 403 E 4th St in Clare! We have no other branches or affiliations with other businesses!

🐺 Aspen is a wonderful and very fluffy malamute girl who comes in every six weeks to see us!
