“Calypso” and I took on our first ever Foundation Quarter Horse Registry show this weekend and we had so much fun trying new things! I never thought we’d have so much fun in the Ranch Riding. Thank you to all those who guided me through this new venture. I’ve never met a more supportive group of horsemen and women. We will be moving our focus out of the reining pen for a little while on this mare and continuing further in the ranch industry with her. Hoping to try our hand in some cattle classes!

Would make a phenomenal all around project. He loads, hauls, and backs out of trailer, stands for farrier, stands tied, stands to be saddled, w/t/c, very easy keeper. UTD on everything with a current coggins. He is ready to be finished your way!

Very motivated seller

Welcome to the lineup kid 💞 I can’t wait to see the great things this talented filly will accomplish. Thank you again Shelly Fuller for the opportunity to own and train these truly amazing horses. And thank you to W6 Farms for believing in my program.

“Hey buddy are you a cowboy?” “Yeah” 🤷🏼‍♀️

2 yr old on Miss Calypso. Absolutely love this mare’s mind and can’t wait to have her in the show pen. After a hard workout she slows right down and packs the W6 Farms grandkids around. (No she’ll never be for sale sorry 😉)

Come see us in September for the MRHA show!

Finally getting around to welcoming this beauty into our barn. “Couldn’t Ask For More” (owned by Laurie Warner at W6 Farms) and her name says it all. Calypso is such a talented little mare and she is coming into the program very well. Thank you to Shelly Fuller for the smooth sale. She will be shown in the reining and ranch classes at the end of the season. We will see you there! Don’t hesitate to find us at the stalls and ask about our training and nutrition program!

We are closed until May 2021! I am furthering my education in Reining training at Ricotta Performance Horses and finishing my degree in Horse Management through Michigan State while I am there. I am so thankful for all of my clients throughout 2020 that helped make this last year so successful.

I will be building a client list for May when I return so please contact me with any questions you may have or to be added to the list.

ALSO we are looking for a new barn location. Any recommendations for Mid Michigan boarding barns would be greatly appreciated. We need a barn that will bring me in as a trainer (I wouldn’t be listed as your business’s trainer, I just need somewhere to train for my business). If we cannot find a new location we will continue on in Harrison MI but I would like to be located closer to Clare, Rosebush, or Mt. Pleasant.

I will be showing with RHAM & MRHA in 2021. If you want your horses trained and brought to shows to be shown by me or yourself let me know ASAP!

• Learning what it means to ground tie •

I like my horses to know the difference between when it’s okay to follow me around the arena and when I need to have full trust in them to not move a foot. Here at Ramblin’ Roan WHOA MEANS WHOA! In case of any type of emergency or odd situation Bullet now knows what it means to stand his ground.

NOVEMBER 23 IS THE LAST DAY I WILL BE TAKING HORSES FOR 30 DAYS!
contact me asap to get some winter work on your equine friends!

Mr. Bullet really struggled with the bit and learning how to give his face. When he would feel any pressure in his mouth he would make a big scene and the world nearly ended. Very dramatic little horse. But today we had a huge breakthrough! We had to go back to the basics and learn what it means to collect up and be soft in the face. This video was at the end of our session, as soon as he feels me ask for his face he gives it to me immediately. Really starting to love this little guy!

I’ve always said it’s not how MUCH you can get away with on a horse, it’s how LITTLE you can get away with. “Bullet” was extremely stiff in his neck and was very reluctant to flex. If you watch the clip on his lead you can see that I’m only flexing my pinky finger to get him to flex for me. This made our second ride today so much more enjoyable for the both of us. I have very high hopes for this horse.

We are very excited to welcome this 7 year old QH stallion “Bullet” into the barn this week! He arrived to us on Sunday and already had his first ride today! I love how well minded this horse is and how willing he is to do whatever I ask, no matter how scary he thinks it is. He was broke out as a 4 year old and hasn’t had many miles put on him since then. Follow along to see his training progress!

10/15/2020

An example of what we can do in just 30 days!

When this horse came to me, he would rather run you clean over and eat you for breakfast than do anything that was asked of him. On his ride to the barn he almost jumped his way out of his owners trailer! He would dig to China when he was tied and had a horrible trust issue with people. He would strike fear into the people who loved him most. He was flat out mean and dangerous. This 6 year old was barely halter broke let alone ready to be broke to ride.

This video was after his 3rd ride. Not many of them have the mind to hop on ba****ck when they’re this green. This horse came full circle. He would stand tied for hours like a gentleman and stand ground tied in the center of the arena while I worked other horses. He eventually developed an entire different personality and turned into a big teddy bear. First to the gate every single day, ready to ride. I was very comfortable sending him home to his owners knowing he would take care of their teenage daughter.

Contact me if you have a horse like this and need some help!

At Ramblin’ Roan we put time into each horse differently and do NOT push them if they can’t handle it. We make a point to connect with them and train their mind along with their body!

At Ramblin’ Roan Equine we’re all about riding with our seat! We keep our hands soft and use our spurs as buttons pushers. We believe in wet saddle pads, NOT bloody rib cages! If you’d like your ponies riding around bridle-less and soft, send me a message! Check out this awesome Gelding owned by Ken McNabb Horsemanship “Devon” is an own son of NRHA $7 million sire Who Whiz It. I had the absolute pleasure of schooling on him and perfecting some of my training techniques before he went to Ken. I base my core training techniques off of his values in the horse industry. Check him out with Devon at The Road To The Horse 2021! They make a great pair.

Hey horse friends! If you’re looking for any training this winter look no further!
I will be taking a limited number of horses this winter so get your spot as soon as possible by contacting me!

I like to focus my training on Ranch horse disciplines on broke horses. And I would love to break out your colts and fillies! Young horses MUST be at least two years of age, and physically capable of carrying a rider. Younger horses or horses that need another year to grow can get all of the groundwork done and broke to the saddle without a rider.

A few of my credentials:
•2020 spring & summer was spent breaking and training Colts with Circle A Horsemanship. Feel free to ask Austin Edick for a reference.
•Spent the year of 2019 with Michigan State University’s Horse Teaching and Research Center breaking out Arabian show horses and handling babies.
•The years of 2017-2019 managing and training at a small horse ranch in Michigan
•The summer of 2018 spent at clinics with Ken McNabb and Ron Ostrom in Wyoming and I base many of my training methods off of their work with my own twist.

If you’re just looking to get more miles on a broke horse that was never finished, desensitizing a spooky trail horse, getting a tune up or putting some more buttons on a show horse, or getting your youngsters started PM me! I offer a minimum of 30 days up until January! If you want your horse worked all throughout winter and ready for show season here’s your chance!

Horse must be UTD on coggins and vaccines, and have a strangles vaccine. MUST have EEE vaccine as there is an outbreak in Michigan this year.

Feel free to share.
