I am Reese,

Let me tell you about my long car ride today.
I was early listed as a FREE 1 yr old female today in multiple facebook groups at 7am and fast. I am a young bulldog pit mix who is unproperly vetted. I am extremely friendly with kids and all humans. I would do best in a home with a large dog to bond with or alone. No kitties please.

5 hours traveled today by a volunteer to pick her up from Philipsburg, PA. We had an extra hour on the trip due to construction on 22.

Its like they woke up and their agenda was to give her away to anyone.
They would not take the post down "just in case" but confirmed she wouldnt give her away to anyone else before we got there.

What we were told about her:
Lets say owner 1 previous and 2 current (since we do not know if there were more than 2)

Owner 1 had her as a puppy 8 weeks to 8 months. Housing did not allow her and they had to rehome.
Owner 2 obtained her at 8 months old and has had her the last 3 to 4 months. Nothing was known about the dog other than friendly with people.

Reason(s) for rehoming:
Owner 2 has small dog - best with bigger dogs (not fair to keep her crated away from small dog that lived there 1st), and moving soon to smaller apt, cannot take

Why Free?
A small rehoming fee could have been charged or why was more time not given to her for a proper fit home if they were not moving yet or why not ask for help sooner than the day she had to be gone, if knowing you were moving?
Something did not seem right.

We have no idea her reason for waking up and rehoming her for FREE like her life isnt worth something.

We beleive she matters. We did not want her used for breeding.

She was a trapped cat awaiting her appointment. Yesterday morning Sunday 7-21 at 6am I woke up to an emergency.
I had only came downstairs to get a drink. I figured I checked on the new kitties, spend a few minutes with them and go rest.

I looked into her crate and saw a her sitting in a 1/4 inch puddle of blood. I rubbed my eyes to wake up and assess the situation.

I had no clue she was pregnant. Betty Boop was never meant to have kittens. I witnessed laying in the puddle of blood, not only her but the little body parts of 3 itty bitty prematurely baby kittens that were born dead. I switched her into a different crate with all clean stuff.

As she got up into the other crate, I could see she had another 4th baby coming out of her birth canal. This time we had a bigger problem.

She looked at me so scared and although she hissed, she allowed me to pet her back a little to comfort her. She laid there in her blood next to those babies so sad and defeated from trying so hard to get these babies out that were not ready to be born.

She did not birth the kitten and it was stuck. I tried to entice her to move around some. I left her alone to be more comfortable to see if she would start to birth again alone. I checked on her and nothing.

She looked at me so scared and although she hissed, she allowed me to pet her back a little to comfort her. She laid there in her blood next to those babies so sad and defeated from trying so hard to get these babies out that were not ready to be born.

The kitten was stuck in Betty's birth canal. We did not know if there are anymore kittens stuck inside of her besides the one in the canal.

We are assuming she birthed premature kittens due to stress, possibly having a previous litter so close to this one, and not being adequately nutritional to carry full term. The very youngest cats or super oldest momma cats always have more rough pregnancies because of how harsh it can be on their bodies due to their age.

I called around to several veterinars in PA, OH and WV to figure out the best treatment option for this kitty.
We dicussed parameters for a normal cat pregnancy, the issues she's experiencing as well as the various ways to handle the situation to birth the stillborn kitten but either way we know she needed help. I told her we wouldn't let her down.

Myself and Maria from People's care and Animal Control assisted Betty aboop to birth the kitten yesterday.

Please SPAY AND NEUETER your animals to avoid animals from having Pyometra (infection of the uterus), still borns, premature births, and the spread of infections and diseases.

HER BACK STORY:
I was working on TNRing some cats in danger of a person threatening to harm them. I took in moms, litters of bottle babies, many kittens and adults so far from this colony of over 20 cats in the last 2 weeks. She is the most recent cat to enter our rescue.

People failed her. She is so young herself at 6 to 8 months old. She is scared, unfixed and now has to face this tragedy but atleast she is not alone.

Neighbors in the area knew I was trapping and accidently caught her while trying to catch a raccoon to remove from their property. The property owners already took in and fixed 2 cats from outside to keep as their pet. Instead of just releasing her, they called me TNR.

She was trapped and now waiting for one of my pre booked spay appointments. We set her up in a crate to decompress until her appointment this week to be fixed. She ended up having an emergency issue Sunday and was able to be taken in Monday 1st thing to Frankie's Friends Clinic.

We are going to watch over her while she heals from her Spay.
