We had some handsome brothers come in last week for some vaccinations.

Our pet spotlight today are Val and Kip, two St. Bernard 10 month old boys. Kip is weighing in at 99.1 lbs and Val is weighing in at 96.2 lbs! And we are pretty sure they’re not done growing!

Today’s pet spotlight is Rudy a 14 week old boxer mix puppy who came in with a fractured right front leg.

After having a splint for a month we are happy to report he is a rambunctious puppy who gets to run around to his heart’s content now!

Here is Davey and Pumpkin- some adult cats we are trying to adopt out.

Davey is an 8 year old black and white domestic medium hair. He is neutered and fully vaccinated. Very shy but we are hoping with the right family his personality will come out.

Pumpkin is an 8 year old orange tabby domestic long haired. She is spayed and fully vaccinated. She can be sassy at times so we are just going slow with her when introducing anyone.

Fuzzy (1st photo) and Charlie (2nd photo) are two female kittens about 12 weeks old. They are spayed and fully vaccinated.

Today’s pet spotlight is our patient Honey, a one year old Chihuahua. She was suffering from cherry eye, which is a prolapse of the third eyelid gland. We removed them for her during her spay and she just came in for recheck post surgery.
She is doing great!

Cheat grass season is here!

Today’s pet spotlight is our client Max, a 3 year old Great Pyrenees who had to be sedated to get some cheat grass removed from his ears.

Please be aware of cheat grass and high w**d areas when taking your pets for walks and hikes. Call us today if you think your pet is suffering from cheat grass!

May is the month for amputations here at Clarkston Vet Clinic- our pet spot light is another kitty named Rome from the Asotin Kitty Rescue who had to undergo surgery for a front arm amputation.

He came in with a bum leg and turns out the nerves had been severed from an unknown trauma. So we had to remove it before it could cause infection.

He is doing great in recovery!

Pepper is a 8 year old spayed female. She is up to date on vaccines and micropchipped. Pepper currently is a house kitty but also enjoys going outside. Today we are sharing a pet spot light!

This is our client Johnny, a domestic shorthair tabby who unfortunately was hit with a BB pellet that broke both his ulna and radius in his right arm. We tried a splint for a few months to see if the bones would heal over time but no such luck. Today we removed the bad leg and Johnny is out of surgery and onto the road of recovery.

Be aware that flea and tick season are here!

This is our client Charlie, a 7 year old border collie who has been a long time client since he was a puppy.

He came in last Thursday because his owners found a couple ticks and needed help removing them.

We found 40 ticks on Charlie! Not including the ones the owners had already taken off.

Make sure to come in to pick up your flea and tick prevention today!

Spring weather means flowers and plants starting to bloom—— but this also means it’s cheat grass season!

Cheatgrass can be inhaled, swallowed, or carried away in a dog’s fur, creating larger problems for that animal down the road.

It is important to follow these steps to protect your pet from cheat grass:

•Prevent your pet from running off trail through fields of wild grass and w**ds
•Do not let your pet eat or sniff w**ds and wild grasses
•Clear the w**ds in your yard
•After a journey outdoors, check your pet’s paws and coat for cheat grass. Brush your dog’s coat to be extra careful.
•Make sure to regularly check your dog’s eyes, ears and mouth
•Look for signs of inflammation or symptoms of irritation in your pet, particularly if your pet is limping or frequently licking their feet.
