My daughter was determined to give Uno a bite of her breakfast this morning. I am truly SO proud of Uno. She wasn't super nervous, but actually way more curious. She even took hay out of my little girls hand so nicely!
It was so so so cute hearing my daughter say "Come here, Uno, Come Here." It was sooo sweet. πŸ₯Ήβ€οΈ

Banana and Ely went out this morning and it was STINKIN COLD. However, I got those two out first thing this AM. Banana was a little fresh during warm up, Ely was great, just like "why are you here this early!?!" Haha!
I wanted to get the riding done at the upper barn before I had Dos's PEMF session, so I could keep things going, and all I had was the groundwork ones at the upper barn, once Dos was done. Since Ely is staying another month, I'll be doing more haul outs since he's getting pretty solid around here. Banana is great out alone. I honestly don't have anything else broke to take him out with together, but there's nothing better than a confident horse alone, as he came in super unconfident on the ground and he's been amazing! Him and Ely are about the same. Broke, but have holes that I've been working on! :)
Miles upon miles with them. Even if you see more updates on the colts and more between the ears on the more broke ones, it's because 1. I am normally alone when I take them out, and two, it's just miles and more miles on them vs educational videos with the colts or problem horses I have in. Anyway, it's been great and nice having some more "dependable" ones to venture out on! ❀️

I have an amazing friend that offers PEMF! 😍
If your horses are with me long-term, this is SO beneficial for them. Dos is doing incredible undersaddle, but I want to be sure that she is comfortable undersaddle too! She came in very very reactive. She's since gotten much better and going along well. Some days she doesn't want to soften up, and she gets tense, and so I decided to have Jayden come up and work on her. I am SO excited to watch the benefits this does for Dos and any other horse here that she can fit in if you want. Dos is such an incredible mare and deserves all the things she needs to perform her best! She gives me her all, and I need to do the same for her and the horses in my barn. ❀️
What is PEMF? MagnaWave’s high-powered PEMF therapy increases circulation, improves muscle recovery, and enhances endurance. Whether you’re preparing for competition or everyday training, PEMF helps your horse perform at its best! :)

I am very grateful for her knowledge and time! Lots of amazing things were learned today to help benefit the horses here!!! 🐎

I love it when all the slow work even shows on the ground! :)
I've been doing a ton of walk, stop, back up, trot, stop, back up, getting Ginger to learn how to get a nice stop, and back up, all while softening her up. Besides her head not being collected, she really is mentally remembering what I ask for even on the ground. What a good girl she is. She is doing amazing with arena work, and has started outside riding. She needs more outside miles (which I'll continue to do,) but shes getting really fun in an arena. She still needs assistance loping, but thats normal. I'm loving this mare and had to share this clip from her groundwork session today! 😍

Look how beautiful this girl is! 😍
She is a shy one, and a bit sensitive. I have been really focusing on getting her as desensitized as possible which will look a little different than some other approaches you've seen me post. Each day she is less reactive and by reactive, it's nothing worse than a cold backed horse, however I want that OUT before I throw a leg over. Some are just a bit more rank so to say than others. You push them, it gets worse, you work at their pace, it works wonders. πŸ‘Œ
Yesterday Faith and I did a ton of "weird" things to help her settle. It's just what she needed. She was better today, I added some weirdness to it, and she really was licking and chewing and relaxing a lot more. My goal is to have my saddle on her by the 11th. I still think that will happen. I'm trusting the process and always reminded that the more reactive horses make the best ones. She also has a farrier appointment next week! So excited for her first trim! :)

Dos Si Do 😍
She was the first horse I threw my leg over today. She is seriously becoming so fun and confident. I think she's telling me she wants to learn liberty during our groundwork session. πŸ˜†
She is walking out and trotting so well. We still need assistance loping, but thats okay. All the softness and stuff starts at a walk and trot. She's backing up nicely, and has a decent stop.
She is truly a fun little project!

Can we talk about how hard it is to sell a shy or green horse? Cloud moves mountains when he knows you. Lately he has had a few people come and he just is super shy. I have ones that really really understand this horse and I let them work with him this week. He definitely chooses his people. It's amazing how he reacts to different approaches. He is going to make someone a really nice horse. People just have to understand that he has to get to know you before truly showing you how amazing he is. Faith had a good day with Cloud today. Gracie worked with him a couple days ago and he was a bit shy, but it was so so good for him!!! I am grateful that he got handled by a few other people. It's helped his confidence, but also has shown that he truly needs his own person. Someone understand this boy and take him home! ❀️

The big question is... "What happened to Keyote exactly?" This is the exact story of what happened, 3 years ago. So when you read this story, understand it was in 2021 when this happened. But it seems like yesterday. πŸ’”

She was fine that Friday morning. Started laying down around noon but my friend thought she was just resting which I understand as she was almost 6 months along. Then around 245ish Friday she noticed her horses (which were in the pasture across driveway) running and pacing and looking across the way where I had found Keyote laying stiff and I could tell she was hurting... :( I got her up and called my amazing vet and rushed her down.
Dr. Rustabakke did every test he could but was so so so concerned that her heart rate was in the 80's... (normal is 40 and thats with a little anxiety at a vet clinic...)
She was in so much pain she just wanted to lay down but I walked her for hours with my friends who alternated with me to keep her comfortable. We thought it was colic but after the ultrasound at Rustabakkes showed no twist, and heart rate so high he said rush her to WSU. They took her back once we got there and Matt (my husband,) and I had sat in the truck for about an hour waiting for them to come back out to us. (Covid Restrictions were back then ugh so I wasnt even with her...)

They come back and when the vet said "Well... I am so sorry to say but she is very very sick.." I broke down. She told me the options, I was so scared and she was admitted.... I asked if they could bring her out so I could say how much I loved her and gave her kisses in case she didn't make it. Sadly Keyote didn't respond to the medicine up there at all. Every single thing they could think of they did and just didn't work. They called me and I had to say the worse words ever... "Go ahead and Euthanize her as she is in so much pain and no way to fix this...." 😭😭😭😭😭 She and the baby left this world about 1:15am Saturday October 30, 2021.

So then they did an autopsy on her Saturday and her right colon had lost blood supply for who knows what reason... which then ruptured and she went septic in a matter of 7 hours. 😭

I'm so glad I didn't wake up to her gone. That would have been such a miserable death for her and the baby. :( But ugh. I just wish this didn't happen. No known causes either. They say its like a person waking up and having a stroke when they were so healthy the day before... just a horrible situation all around, thats for sure. I'm glad she isn't hurting anymore.

I honestly am just as devastated today as I was 3 years ago. πŸ˜πŸ’”πŸ˜πŸ’”

Go hug your horses. You truly never know when their last day is. :(

So today was a little different. Today I made sure that I spent a little extra time grooming and enjoying these horses just being in my life. I know that they all enjoyed it too. I was able to truly just get all of the horses looking their best. With today being 3 years since loosing my girl, I reminded myself to spend that extra time just loving the horses, and the mules, Ely and Sally. :)
I remember the joy it brought me spending time just trying to get my girls tail to GROW and always look good. Braiding the mane and all the tails of the ones that allowed me, just made me remember to never take those moments for granted. "They say that horses in Heaven they have no tail. This is a rule they all know without fail. For when a new horse arrives with a short cut bob, they all know that this horse did a very good job." I know that my girl truly was amazing, and im grateful to have the memory of her mane and tail, its just how we cope. My favorite thing to do with her was groom her and just make her look her best, because she was so beautiful! 😍
The horses today also got some extra lovins, in remembrance of my girl who I would do anything to groom just ONE MORE TIME! πŸ₯Ήβ€οΈ

Go give your horses loves, brush them extra, braid their manes and tails, pamper them. You just never know what can happen. πŸ’”

P.s Thank you Gracie for the solo braids in the manes! That was perfect lol πŸ˜†
