The recessive gene conflict:

Line breeding, as a general rule, is not a good idea. EVERY dog, regardless of breed, carries at least one recessive gene. [The recessive gene] may never show itself as long as the dogs are bred outside of theit line but when you breed inside the line you run the risk of that recessive gene being in both parents. The recessive gene could be anything from blindness to hearing problems to three legs instead of four. The likelyhood of the litter of pups having genetic problems increasing tremendously in line breeding.I hope this helps(Mcmurray,M).
