George and Jake, 2 years old, say we are in a little bit of a predictament. Their daddy is very ill and can no longer take care of these cuties. Plus they have an older doggie sister who will need a new home. We have an appt for heartworm testing and vaccines. Then they will be groomed and neutered! Wait until you see what they look like after groomed!! They are sooooo sweet. They feel like they weigh about 11-14 lbs. These 2 little ones must be adopted together. It is hard to believe it was a year ago today we brought this precious girl into our rescue and our hearts. We quickly learned nobody wanted to foster a 13 year old dog! So many people said you just get attached and they die. Well, I wouldn't change one minute of our year with this senior!!! In her 13 years she had never been around a cat. I told Bella- you have to love cats Bella- don't screw this up!! The cats loved her on sight. She wasn't used to walks but now she loves to get exercise. She will go anywhere with us just to go! She plays like a puppy. She has some health issues and therefore not adoptable. Pancreatitus, hypothyroidism, and a collapsed trachea. But we are dealing with them. Now 14 years old, she is loved every bit as much as a puppy! Age does not matter. Happy gotcha day BELLA!!!

We have helped more people this year with vet bills then we ever have! People love their pets but they do not have enough money to save their pet in cases of emergencies or routine vet care. Between our own rescues needing vet care, and helping families with their pets, we need to have another yard sale! Your donations-100%- go to vet care! Animals are being left behind when people move at record numbers. It is so wrong. These two were left to fend for themselves. They were scared and a neighbor found them a place to stay, but it is extremely short term. They were infested with fleas, so missing lots of hair. These 2 are extremely bonded and super sweet. She thinks they are older like 8-10 yrs old but not sure. They are very pretty, and so sweet. We said we would vet them to help out, but they need a place to go! They cannot keep them. Colton said my life has sure taken a turn for the better!! Found in the middle of the road in Elizabeth, IN, he is sooooo lucky a good Samaritan saw him and scooped him up. He was scared to death and had a cut under eye, and it was bleeding. Soybeans was all that was on the side of the road and she could not find any more babies. How could this angel be in the middle of nowhere. We wish they could talk. Sooo......... welcome Colton to Purrfect Friends! Colton is very social. If you sit down up he comes to your lap. He tested felv/fiv negative, had his first shot, dewormed, and 5-6 weeks old.

Safaa says my life has been full of twists and turns, and I hope I am finally going to feel better! This angel is part of a bonded pair we adopted out as kittens 11 years ago. Their poor mom had a stroke and went to rehab. During that time, the kitties were alone. Unfortunately, their mom never came home again and we were contacted. We found an adopter, but discovered this angel had blood in urine and litter box issues
Obviously something was wrong. Back to a medical foster for this pair! Upon further testing we found out she had several large bladder stones! How painful!! We had them removed yesterday and she is doing well. We hope all her pain will be gone! She said if you think the surgery was bad -----wearing this onesie is a real issue! We love this pair. They have suffered so much and are love bugs. We have spent approx $2400 on medical bills for Safaa. She is worth every nickel. Please take care of your pets today! The loud noise scares a lot of pets and they blindly take off. Take your dogs out on a leash, and make sure your fences are secure. Have ID on your pets. More dogs will be lost today more than any other time of the year. People won't stop shooting off fireworks but we can help our poor pets during this scarey time. Keep your pets inside, play the TV, make a cozy place in the closet if scared. Use common sense today.

Buster said nobody was happier to be rescued! He had so many problems. Starving to death, big wounds that would not heal, and after testing we found out he had MRSA. He had to be treated for months. All Buster knew was he had food, water, and was safe. He slept all the time while recovering. He is a handsome boy! Foster care saved his life. We then found Buster is diabetic. That is just a bump in the road for him. Buster is about 6-7 yrs old. He is shy with strangers, but not with foster family! Eats like he won't get fed again, which is common with starving cats. UPDATE: HE IS GOING TO A FURRRREVER HOME! HOW LUCKY IS THIS ANGEL!!

Look at this face!!!! He said he doesnt know how he is in such a predictament! The person that found this kitten was going to be evicted for having this precious baby in her care. She has been taking care of him for about 4 weeks. She said he is super sweet and loving. Her friend took him to keep her from being evicted, but cannot keep him. We will completely vet him. Bella says she is happy to report- she found her furrrrever home! Yep- it is true. We rescued Bella from an abandoned home and she was sooo sick. She grew into such a sweet girl, plus she turned into a lap cat. So.....when someone wanted a kitty that was sweet, a lap cat, and wouldn't mind 2 little boys, we knew Bella was our girl! She headbutts the boys and they just love that. Bella- you hit the jackpot! She is doing wonderful and they love her! Way to go Bella!

Welcome Miss Lady Grey to Purrfect Friends! This gorgeous girl is not only beautiful, she is super sweet! She was found wandering a neighborhood, very thin. We found she was chipped, but owners never responded. :( We listed her with the shelter and her hold is up. Miss Lady Grey is 8 years old! A purrrfect age. We did bloodwork and it was great. FOSTER NEEDED
This starving cat is in an area where we have rescued so many cats. Most we rescued were in horrific shape and turned out beautiful! We found out her caretaker died months ago and she and 4 others have been left to fend for themselves. Obviously they are not doing too well. They are starving to death, and a new feeder has now taken over. This beauty is sooo sweet and just wants love and attention. We need a foster! Update: rescuer found a foster- woo hoo!

Meet beautiful Miss Millie! Her caretaker died and this precious girl needs a foster or furrrrever home. The family was open to coming in and trying to place the sweet cats and fixing them etc. Millie is approx 7 months old and has been spayed and received her rabies. She will finish vetting once she finds foster or a new home. She was too sweet to go back outside....so she is in a temporary foster. They do not want to release her - she deserves so much better. When you get adopted this is how you relax! Free Loader says his life got a whole lot better once he was safe! You got to admit this cutie looks like he loves his new home. We thought he was a lot older when rescued but the vet estimated only a year or so. Once he was in rescue we learned he runs and plays like a kitten! Enjoy your home - Way to go Free Loader!!!

Today- ONE YEAR LATER!!
It is hard to believe our precious Kodie is alive and well!! We were given no hope a year ago. We asked if we could take this senior home to let him know love once in his life before euthanization. Kodie had different ideas! He is now a gorgeous loving, sweet, sweet, boy! Kodie is over 11 lbs now and really loving life. A normal acting cat. We are so glad we asked for a little time with him before euthanizing. Kodie said a little TLC goes a long way! We know he is a miracle and we are so thankful for his foster mom. You have to admit - he is a beauty!!

KODIE'S STORY
April 5, 2023
Received a call about a cat that couldn't eat and had trouble breathing. When meeting him, he could hardly breathe. Tried to eat and couldn't. He was in horrific shape and only 6 lbs. We took him to Metropolitan Veterinary Specialists where we found Kodie had overwhelming problems. The roof of his mouth was raw with ulcers along with his tongue. The worst case they've ever seen. That is why his tongue hangs out. He has megaesophagus, which is extremely rare in cats. His esophagus is extremely dialated and pushing down on his heart. Causes him to struggle to breathe. He also has an esophagal tumor or possibly an esophageal worm. He is anemic and at least 10 years old and more than likely older. Bottom line, we were told we cannot save him. No amount of money can save him. Do you know how hard that is to accept for this poor boy? We can only provide him supportive care. We will love him to the end. We love you Kodie!

We help people with medical bills to save their animals all the time. Often pet owners have a crisis with their pet and they need a helping hand. We try to help so the pet is saved. This young fellow is just one of the 4 owned pets we helped this week. He had a blockage and he is not quite 2 years old. If you own a male cat- one of the biggest problems for male cat owners is blockages. If your cat gets in and out of the litter box and cannot p*e - it is an emergency. It is very expensive to unblock and hospitalize. Then these cats usually have to eat special food all their lives. If you own a cat, wet food is critical. Not all cats have blockages because of the food, but cats eating wet food seem to not block as often. Thanks to all our supporters, another young cat is unblocked and praying he stays that way.

Saffa and Simba said they wanted you to know----they found their furrrrever home! Yep. It is true. We are sooo appreciative of their new mom taking over loving these two, after their original mom loved them for 11 years. Adopters of seniors are heros! It is easier to adopt young kittens, we know that, but the seniors need homes also. Simba thinks he is prarie dog! Always on his back legs. Saffa has had some health complications but we are dealing with them. Both have adjusted well to their new mom. Way to go Simba and Saffa!!
