Rescue is hard. We rescued this angel, named her Sassy, and we knew something wasn't quite right. She was covered in fleas and anemic. Bloodwork showed anemia and high bun and creatine (kidney) .While recovering from anemia we noticed she threw up frequently after eating. We saw an internist and had an ultrasound done. She is in renal failure and has IBD or lymphoma. We can't biopsy due to renal failure. She is soooo sweet and a complete lap cat. A purring, love machine. She now receives fluids everyday and cerenia for nausea. Sassy is a small girl and middle age. Sassy is sick but she is happy! In fact, very happy. She talks, and I mean talks the minute she sees you! She sleeps on her fosters head at night or next to it on the pillow. She loves to watch TV on a lap or snuggled up in her new bed a volunteer gave her! Foster care is so important. Sassy would have died a painful death without rescue. Our time will be short with Sassy, but we made a difference. In fact, a huge difference for Sassy. She appreciates it, we're sure.

Hard to believe we rescued this young lady in 2008, when she was 6 months old! Meet Priscilla! She looks wonderful. Just a petite little girl, 6 lbs, and now 18 years old. Her mom went into nursing home and her family contacted us. We would receive a christmas card from Priscilla through the years. She adjusted well when we took her back into foster care, but now in the beginning of renal failure. Hopefully we can treat that for awhile! What a lucky girl to be loved her whole life.

Another pet we helped this week. This 7 year old baby, Chase, was being walked and attacked by another dog. He needed veterinarian care. The owner of the dog that attacked him did not have the funds to vet him. The owner of this angel did not have any funds. As days went by with no care, the infection was growing. We paid the $702 to get this angel the care he so desperately needed. Hopefully the owner of the dog that attacked this boy will come through with reimbursement. Meanwhile, this boy shouldn't suffer.

We want to welcome this precious boy, Tater Tot, to Purrfect Friends. This boy was presented to an emergency clinic with a urinary blockage. Life and death. The family turned him over to rescue due to the extremely high cost to unblock him and possibility of PU surgery down the road. Tater Tot is very unique and only 2 years old.He is a Munchkin cat. It truly is heartbreaking. He can climb but coming down, due to the short legs, almost falls on his face. Hard to even get an IV into his leg because so short. He can be easily bullied, and would never get away from a dog. He will require a special home. He is sooooo loving. Hard to get pictures because he wants attention! He will require special food, which is expensive, and we want him living stress free when he goes to a new home. He is so cute but presents a lot of challenges when going to a new home.

Throughout this horrible cold and snow, we always remember Wynter, a precious kitten we rescued 11 years ago. She had severe frost bite, found frozen to the road. After healing she was adopted to a wonderful family that said she would never be cold again. She looks wonderful after all these years!!. We get tired of people saying they have fur they'll be fine. Wynter will tell you - that's not always true!!

Our area is preparing for a winter storm. Ice, snow, and frigid temperatures. Please bring your animals inside!!! Even a garage would help. These animals are at our mercy. Have a plan. Outside cats can be placed in a bathroom if that is all that is available. Just get them through this storm. Please report dogs that are left out in these elements. Please watch out for our furry animals! Bring them inside!

This is how rescued cats should live! Free Loader was rescued by Purrfect Friends in February. He was skinny, hating the cold and FIV positive. Begging for food- hence the name. He got the works done and he never looked back! This is how he lays around his new house. He is not an angel, but really relaxed! He is glad the holidays are wrapping up and he will get the full chair back.

George and Jake said they are so happy to be in foster care! These brothers are 3 years old and soooo precious. Although precious, not purrfect!!! Their daddy died and they lived alone for awhile. They want to be near their humans! We have neutered them, updated on shots, heartworm tested, and chipped. Our foster is working with these 2 in getting used to playing with toys, walks, car rides, and trained! They are very smart and sooooo sweet. Hopefully they will be ready in a couple of weeks.
