It’s cold and wet here in middle Tennessee. So of course my little mulie needs her wool blankie to help her warm up before I put her sheet back on 🤣

Most spoiled princess 👑 🤣

(Don’t mind all the hair on the ground - a week ago it was 80* and the horses were shedding something vicious / annnd KM got clipped 🤷‍♀️)

We’ve had this muzzle for YEARS. It has never come off, never broken in anyway….. it’s even the original halter and breakaway poll strap.

These muzzles are not cheap but good lord are they worth every cent I paid for it!

I just wish they still offered the halter in pink so I could replace this faded one.

Made KM a special mash to apologize for being gone for so long…. Then proceeded to prep her for the incoming storm. After nearly 10 years living in TN I have learned to accept that here winter goes out like a lion, not a lamb.

Due to the projected and impending spiral weather expected during the overnight 🌀🌪️ I shaved KM’s hip to make her brand visible - it basically disappears during the winter due to her very long and thick winter coat. Also had the hubs 3D print me some tags to braid into her mane, just in case.

I’m always such a nervous Nelly when bad weather is on the radar 🤦‍♀️😩

Nothing like a mash to bring the ponies running. 🤣

So KM and I have changed barns…. and now she rules over a nearly 40 acre pasture (pony herd boss video in the works 🤣).

Well I do not want to traipse across the land to fetch said mulie, so I have been working diligently on getting her to come when I call.

I think I might have figured it out!

I feed a combination of Zero and an Alfalfa/Bermuda hay cube (not because she needs the cubes, but because she likes them). Well recently I started soaking her feed and making her a soup, basically. Today was day three of soup. Oh and ALWAYS her Daybreak Farms () she will do ANYTHING for them 🤣

When I got to the barn she was up near the top of the hill, so I bellowed for her and got to making her food. By the time I was ready to go get her she had trotted down the hill and was waiting for me, even greeted me with her quiet “hee haw” (I’ll get a video of that too… it’s adorable).

So it appears a soupy mess is the secret 🤣🤷‍♀️

** in her defense she usually meets me half way. Thankfully she hasn’t really made me work for it in years (lord I hope this doesn’t jinx it 🤦‍♀️). She can be a handful to put it mildly 🤣

This little mule.

Today was our first ride in two weeks, and she was a knucklehead 🤣

Started off ok, then she decided she didn’t wanna so I gave a little “encouragement” with my crop after all other negotiating attempts were ignored. Apparently, I over used the crop so she decided we needed to walk up the hill and away from our friends to have a conversation about my behavior (video to follow) 🤣🤦‍♀️.

She is the funniest little creature, with a tremendous personality.

Based on our interactions I assume when she talks about me with her herd mates it goes something like this: “How’s it going with your human?”
KM “Slower than I’d like, but she’s starting to pick up on my cues faster, so that’s promising. You know she’s a rescue so I try to be patient” 🤣

It’s winter in the South….. which means rain and flooding 🤦‍♀️

The Marvelous Miss Mae had a pedicure appointment with our most beloved and amazing ferrier and so I had to brave the weather.

No mud to speak of, but basically had to swim out to get her 🤣🤦‍♀️

So incredibly thankful for the awning to keep the three of us dry while Middi worked her magic.

Thanks to Kinzie’s extensive wardrobe ( and ) she is warm and dry despite the never ceasing rain and low temperatures.

Narrowly missed the road closure. I drove through Cooper Creek before the collapse and was luckily able to leave post-collapse but before they closed the road.

Sooooo a certain little mulie REFUSES to stay out of the cow pasture. So, now she has to wear her muzzle to limit how much of the green spring grass she can have — she is NOT amused.

Her “boyfriend” does what he can to keep her out of trouble, but unfortunately (for all of us) she does what she wants 🤣🤦‍♀️

He snorted at her after investing the muzzle and she responded by squealing and kicking at him 🤦‍♀️🤷‍♀️

Mules. Nothing will test your fences or your patience like a mule 🤣

Introduced the Marvelous Miss Mae to c**n jumping today (Google it - it’s wild to watch). Coin jumping is a mule competition where the mule jumps over an obstacle from a standstill. The tradition goes back to mule skinners needing to get their packs over rock walls. The record jump is 72 inches.

The ability for mules to perform this skill just speaks to their incredible athleticism.

Based on her post “jump” attitude I don’t think KM will be adding this particular skill to her repertoire. 🤣

The jump pictured was short enough that I can step over it, I’m only 5’3” ….. so have no fear….
