Loose leash walking turning into loose leash heel. Buffy is doing great. A lot of barking dogs had her a little stressed and nervous. But we trained through it. As soon as we got to our yard she went straight to the poop spot and went potty.
Maya is a rockstar at her obedience.
Maya has had her going home bath and now we're doing our going home walk polishing up on her heel a little bit. This is a highly food motivated Doberman Lab mix and she loves to train
Scooby , Ace and Colby are still up for adoption. Watch the video for more information and message us about meeting them.
Cooper is getting ready to go home from his two weeks board and train. He still gets excited over squirrels and sometimes pulls on the leash. His jumping and obedience so so so much better.
Here is a little video of Josie working outside on her obedience. As you can see she has the attention span of a fly 😂. But we're doing a lot more training outside to continue to work on her distractions and obedience together. She's doing very well on potty training we are still working really hard on leash training. And I'll continue to update as she gets better.
After play time and training we give quiet time with mental stimulation. Physical stimulation is important with puppies but mental stimulation is even more important. Full moon coming up and the dogs are all needing a lot of interaction and play time. This is how I can reset and relax for an hour then we get back at it again.
Just an update from the owner
This is coop. I just picked him up for 2 weeks board and train. His biggest issues are pulling on the leash and jumping on people. He was recently adopted from Christian county animal control. I believe he has actually had training before. He knows quite a few commands. The owner had no idea he was capable of doing some of this stuff. We will refresh his training making it better and really focused on his jumping on people as he is a very large dog and also focus on his leash walking cuz he has no manners on leash. Look for more updates on Coop as he goes through his training.
We had our third group class today. I brought my service dog badger with me to use as a demonstration. Working on your heel command you can get the same results just doing 15 to 20 minutes three to four times a day. Heel is the most frustrating command for dog and owner. It takes time and patience. I could see a lot of the owners were very frustrated and I see this every time we teach heel command. Consistency is the key. If you are getting frustrated with your dog stop try something else and go back to it later. When you get frustrated your dog gets frustrated. Each dog learns differently and in group class I work with each owner individually to help them fit their needs and their dogs needs.
Please help me wish my son a happy 18 th birthday today. I can't believe my baby is now an adult.
Lila and Mazie are getting ready to go home so we're doing the going home walk to refresh their memory on obedience and walking with distractions so that when we go home we can transfer the training to their owner. They did our two week board and train they've worked on watch me,leave it, sit, down, loose leash walking, a little bit of heel and tried to help with their struggle of their anxieties. For anxiety issues we definitely recommend our 30-day program but they've made a lot of progress in our two week program.
