We are a rural shelter that houses stray cats/dogs in Powell Co, KY. We adopt & work w/rescues to find homes for cats/dogs whenever possible. Not a vet clinic.

Donations are always welcome! We don't have a vet at our location. DO NOT report Animal Control issues here. Call 606.663.4998 or after hours- dispatch for emergencies. See available pets at Www.fopcp.org

We believe pets aren't disposable, but rather family members. Saving a pet by keeping yours is our hope for all family pets. A shelter is not always an ideal place for beloved family members. Safety is not guaranteed and shelter life can be very stressful for pets. Shelters are full. Rescues are full. Those dreamed about farms that folks say their pet needs rarely exist. However, we know life changes can sometimes happen. As a result, we have added a website link on our main page for folks to use to rehome their pet. This will keep them out of Shelters and transfer them directly to a new home managed by the owners. Be patient, as we know, there aren't enough homes.

These spicy cuties are one of the litters we have at the shelter needing a place to call their own. 3 of them have some slight eye imperfections but, it doesn't mean they have any less charm or health concerns. (Sage, Nutmeg & Spice) They are happy and playful. Check out these 7 babies sure to be sweet companions. Hurry to apply as our $45 specials won't last.

New arrivals making new friends part 2! The intakes aren't slowing down but, the placements sure have. Meet Imal Coonie, Lou & Madelyn.

Our little parvo girl is back to the shelter and recovered! She still has to be isolated from all other dogs. Her littermates are doing well & we are hopeful they stay that way. THANK YOU to all that has helped by your donations!! ❤️💞

One week later Emmitt is beginning to heal! A foster home is key to his healing process and will take time. Because our county is foster home challenged and the 3 we have are already fostering others we look for rescue orgs in other places willing to take this challenge. He is not ready for adoption but, today he will be transferred to Ohio where he will live with a foster family and continue his recovery. We can't wait to see his transformation!!

Yet another severe neglect case. 😢 This fellow is deaf, malnourished, and in need of serious medical care. He has a sweet nature. The case is in the hands of the sheriff. Location is Powell Co. KY. Foster or rescue help is welcomed. 606-663-4998

** UPDATE** All Dachshunds have been relocated!! 21 new dogs confiscated rather than the 19 we originally thought plus 5 kittens. These are not ready for adoption but, are available to rescues.
