We raise quality lamb, goat, pork and beef that produce tasty and nutritious meat to serve on your table. We are a small Family Farm raising sheep, meat goats, beef cattle and pigs. We sell our product at two local Farmer's Markets: Vallejo Saturdays 9 to 1 PM and Livermore on Sundays 9 AM to 1 PM. We try to keep a variety of lamb, goat, beef and pork, and are willing to get special cuts for you

if possible. We have a large variety of sausages made from pork, goat, beef and lamb. We also raise and sell whole meat chickens. If you have questions, you can leave a message here or call Jim at 925 759-4378.

I have pigs going up to be harvested in a couple weeks. If anyone is in need of a half or whole pug, please let me know: [email protected]
Enjoy the sunshine!

We made it to market! We are at the corner of South M and 2nd.

02/25/2024

Sorry Livermore. We were on our way to market today and a mile from home we had issues with Plan C. Hopefully, everything will be fixed by next week!

02/22/2024

We will be low on storage for market this weekend without our trailer. Please consider emailing me your order ahead of time. Thank you!

02/18/2024

I'm sorry Livermore, we won't be at Farmer's Market tomorrow. Jim noticed the trailer was sitting funny at the end of market today in Vallejo. We limped home and he went underneath and checked it. The axle on one side is not connected and the almost brand new leaf spring on the other side is broken. We have maintained this trailer. It never goes off road. The weights are correct on the tongue. We have done everything to maintain this trailer. I'm pretty sure it is done and I am mad! But long explanation for why we won't be at market tomorrow. I have my boards ready and the boxes are packed, but it's not safe. I will keep you updated!

I know most people have only seen pigs at fair. I wanted to give you an idea of how quickly they grow. Normally our sows have both the inside (12 ร— 12 stall) and the outside (at least double that), but with the wind and rain, they are just in the inside of the horse stall.
You can see how large that sow is. She is a 3 year old Berkshire. We no longer use heat kamps, because we found these pigs never used them and just the chickens would hang out under the light.
The pig pile is ten baby pigs that were born yesterday. To give you an idea of how quickly they grow, the single pig is five weeks old. I am the same distance from him and the camera setting is the same. These guys will be between 250 and 300 pounds by the end of the summer.
The good news is, our sows know us and have no problem with us going in with them, but otherwise they are quite protective.

Wow! Just Wow!

Please remember there is no farmers market in Livermore on December 24 or 31st. We will not be in Vallejo on the 30th either.
If you have special orders or large orders, please email them to me at [email protected] before Noon on the previous Wednesday of the weekend. I have even less ability to fill your orders if I get it from you after that.
We do have a few turkeys left that range from almost 16 pounds to about 22 pounds, in case you wanted to know!

Okay, I know a lot about raising livestock, but raising wheat is a whole new ball of wax. We put in 80 acres of winter wheat, but got no irrigation water, so the field only has about 12 bushels per acre (~720 pounds per acre). We are toying with harvesting the best part of the field and using the grain to feed our livestock. I am assuming we would have to have it ground or rolled. Any ideas? What class of livestock would this work best for? I am hoping to hear lots of ideas! Thank you!

I love watching these goats.

Well, the best indicator of spring is here...my hens are laying like crazy!

As I'm putting off going outside to work on fence, I thought I would put out a few notices.
I have been getting quite a few inquiries about Dog Training classes. My next session starts March 13. The first night of Beginners is just for the humans, the following five are for the dog and its humans. There will be an Intermediate class starting that same night at 8 PM, for dogs and handlers that have already completed Beginners. We do refinement on the Beginning work, add heeling patterns, work towards off leash, and introduce some Agility obstacles at the end of each night.
I have also had people asking about Agility. I need six people interested and I will start up an Introduction to Agility. The dogs have to have some Obedience. They need a reliable recall and to be able to sit and stay with lots of distractions. If you are interested, but unsure if you are there yet, I recommend you start in Intermediate Obedience.
On the farm side....We have lots of baby everythings. As I have told you all before, Jim wants to retire. In order to delay this from occurring, we are only keeping the offspring that we need to fill our needs for markets and for anyone that wants us to custom raise lambs, goats, pigs or beef for them. We sell the lambs and goats whole. The pigs and beef may be bought in either halves or wholes. If you are interested in any of these now, or later in the year, please let me know now. I would hate to have to turn you down because I didn't hold back enough!
To that list of pre-orders, we are going to raise turkeys again. Last year was an experiment, we learned a lot and have decided to do it again at a bit larger scale. Last year, they ranged from 12 to 18 pounds. They are free range and do need to be ordered in advance.
And lastly, I have more Berkshire weaner pigs than I need right now. If you are the do-it-yourself type of person and want to raise your own Berk, let me know!
I know I should put this up in several posts, but sitting down at the computer doesn't happen very often when I am not too tired to put together complete sentences! Take care and enjoy the good weather today. Rain is supposed to return later this week. The grass will be happy!

I was right! Obedience class night was great! I just got to meet the Beginner's people, I meet the dog's next week, but it is a great group! Lots of return trainers with a new puppy and many referrals that I hope I can live up to what was said! Dare had such a good time, he thought he was just out there to watch the goats and then he noticed there were people!
The Intermediate class was small, but HUGE progress! A great night all around!
And more sunshine...What will tonight bring?

01/30/2023

It's a beautiful sunny morning, and I am really looking forward to starting new session of Obedience classes tonight. I'm looking at the sunshiny day as a good omen to a great class!
