Charlotte and her Babies update #4
Mama is feeding all her babies, but the two cleft palate babies. The cleft pallet babies are being tube fed.
Even though charlotte's milk came in , these babies are still very fragile. We have no idea who these backyard breeders were or what kind of potential medical issues they will have....... What we do know is the likelihood they will have medical issues is high. Often back your breeders inbreed, they don't give the proper nutrition, half the time they don't even know what they're doing with these types of dogs, and they simply don't care. So, please keep in mind that they are in a very fragile state even with all our best efforts and every day is a sigh of relief, they made it.
This is my first run with a frenchie mama and puppies and I'm learning very quickly, how fragile frenchie babies are even with the best of care. People should not be breeding frenchies this way because of all the medical issues and it's s just not fair to these kids.
Was all of that said we made it till the end of day 4. (Exhale)
Some other interesting things we found out about charlotte is she doesn't like dog food. So we're getting her used to eating that. She does not seem to be afraid of people so it sounds like she was cared for at some level. These things baffle us when the people that should have taken care of her, just decided to juat stop and they felt like the right decision was to let her be out in the middle of the night , very , very pregnant.
We are still collecting funding for this family in anticipation of expenses for supplies and medical expenses that are sure to develop as the babies do.
Several people have asked about adoption. At this point we will just collect applications if you want to send one in, however we ARE NOT promoting adoption yet. I have a separate file to put them in but we will not be reviewing them or communicating about possible adoptions yet. (Charlotte is already adopted). It isn't that we don't want to talk to you, we just don't have the time. We are ONLY focused on the mom and puppies wellbeing at this time. Honestly , we need to make sure all these babies make it before we invest a lot of time talking to people in something that may or may not work out. Again I work 60+ hours a week, an animal rescuing is something I do on my free time and do not get paid to do. So please understand because that understanding goes a long long way with us. Also, remember, we will review the applications in the order they came in when it becomes time to do so. Again, e are not individualizing the puppies at this point in time, So questions about that will simply be ignored. Our agenda is the well being of mama not the adoption of her puppy.
