They need to be ready for wagons and "falling down" if they are going to be a good kids horse. I often pretend to fall or drop the lead rope and teach them to stop and wait. She drops her head and wants kisses :) perfect!
Bridleless on the 3 year old at about 38 days training with about 15 solid rides on her :) she is going to be a bomb proof, kid safe, no nonsense horse.
He is so fun to work with. I just love him! Been doing a lot of work with getting him to stop and along the rail and take a few steps backwards, he had a bad habit of coming right to you when asked to stop. I got him to stop and wait. And if I take a couple steps back, he'll come to me. Otherwise, hes supposed to wait on the rail. Such a thinker.
Couldn't have asked for a better 1st trail ride. A week in the round pen working on balance and stability and off we went :) she is amazing.
Nice but windy solo ride.
Snickers wants to stop and say hi to everyone! 🤣with Brandi on SolDrifter and myself on Lilly & with Trooper.
Lilly loads in any trailer, every time, no questions. She can try to race out backwards. But if asked to walk slowly, she will. I think at one point she may have stepped out of a steep trailer and it startled her cause she acts cautious about that step down. But she will easily turn around in the trailer quietly too and walk out forward.
Stands perfectly while saddling whether tied or ground tied. And stays put while mounting every time even if you don't have a bridle or any reins ;)
