The white dog in this photo was adopted from Patriots on September 9, 2021. Today we got a notice from his micro-chip that he has been found. His adopter was from Marble Rock. The phone number that was supplied to us and the chip company is no longer working. If you know this person please take the time to contact them. If they didn't get the notice about the person who found the dog please have them message us and we can give them that information. Help Alfredo be reunited with his owner.

There have been a quite a few incoming messages from people looking to adopt dogs. I have referred several of you to other rescues that we have worked with.

We have several rescues we have worked with over the past 14 years and have been communicating with one that is extremely overloaded and they do an amazing job getting their dogs ready for adoption. We are trying to work it out with them where you can get info, video with the dog, video with their staff, apply to adopt, etc. If all works out they would transport the dog to Clear Lake for you to pick-up. I have a couple of volunteers who have said they would donate the morning or afternoon (depending on when transport arrives) to help you meet and pick-up your new dog and paperwork.

We would be working with Wilson County No Kill Animal Shelter Inc in an effort to help the dogs that need homes, help them clear some much needed space and to help those of you looking to adopt find your new family member. They are loaded with every breed, age and size of animal you could be looking for.

Remember, Patriots for Pets no longer exists - this is being done strictly as a volunteer for Wilson County and the love of the animals.

All animals will arrive with all current shots, spay/neuter, heartwork checked and everything they need (paperwork) to join your household. All adoption fees will be paid directly to Wilson when completing the adoption.

The President of Wilson County (Brandy Barnett) and myself (Debbie) will be working on this project with anticipated arrival of your new family member in May.

Check out their page and proceed from there. Drop us a message if you are looking so we can get some idea how many animals you are all interested in.

***ADOPTED!!***

Steve (FKA Dasher) really needs some help and love from our NLOL community! He is only about 3 years old and has been adopted twice and surrendered both times. šŸ’”

He will be at the Dahl Subaru adoption event this Saturday, 10/19 from 10-2, if you want to come meet him! Here’s his sad story……

Steve was found, when he was just year old, as a stray on the streets of Texas. He was adopted shortly there after, but fast forward 1 year, he was surrendered back to the shelter at no fault of his own. At this point he came into the NLOL family - January 2024. When he arrived he went to a foster home for just a short period. He then found, what he thought was going to be, his happily ever after in February 2024. Fast forward another 9 months to the present day and he was surrendered again due to the mom, who he bonded most with, having long working hours. Since being surrendered Steve has found 2 short term foster homes but, come Saturday 10/19, he is in need of a new foster or adoptive home yet again 😭

Steve can be timid at first to new things and people. He is also timid with men, which is common especially since he has had no stability in his life. His current foster said Steve warmed up to her husband after just a brief time, but this will likely take patience, understanding, and love from any male he’ll be around. As he learns he’s FINALLY home and safe this should get better.

Steve is listed as a Dachshund Mix. He does have the short little legs but really your guess is as good as ours. He has one blue eye and one brown eye 😘

āœ… 33lbs but could lose a bit of weight (free feeding is likely not for this boy)
āœ… He knows command such as sit, shake, high 5.
āœ… He is gentle and takes treats every so nicely
āœ… Steve enjoys outside time but doesn’t come with a whole lot of energy so he is content just sniffing around
āœ… He’s also used to a tie out so does not require a fenced in yard
āœ… fully potty trained
āœ… He sleeps in his kennel. He has 2 of his own blankets in there. He never barks and waits patiently in the morning to get out.
āœ… Steve is very excited to see his people when they come home but listens well when he’s told to sit
āœ… Lap Dog but he is content to sit or lay on another chair or couch near his human as well.
āœ… Steve had previously been with several dogs and done fine but, with all his recent changes, he may need slow introductions to new dogs.

Steve REALLY needs a committed foster or adoptive home who will give him love, confidence, stability, and maybe a diet 🤫.

If you can help him by fostering or are interested in adoption APPLY HERE: https://newleashdogrescue.com (or private message us if you’re already preapproved!)

**Steve’s $200 adoption fee includes his neuter, vaccines to date, heartworm test, current vet check, and microchip.

Hello: You have reached… your local broke non profit rescue run by volunteers-
Due to the high volume of calls we have been receiving, please listen closely to the following options and choose the one that best describes you or your situation:
Press 1 if you have a 10-year-old dog and your 15-year-old son has suddenly become allergic and you need to find the dog a new home right away.
Press 2 if you are moving TODAY but knew it 3 months ago and need to immediately place your 150 pound, 8-year-old dog.
Press 3 if you have three dogs, had a baby and want to get rid of your dogs because you are the only person in the world to have a baby and dogs at the same time.
Press 4 if you just got a brand new puppy and your old dog is having problems adjusting so you want to get rid of the old one right away.
Press 5 if your little puppy has grown up and is no longer small and cute and you want to trade it in for a new model.
Press 6 if you want an unpaid volunteer to come to your home TODAY and pick up the dog you no longer want.
Press 7 if you have been feeding and caring for a ā€œstrayā€ for the
last three years, are moving and suddenly determine it’s not your dog.
Press 8 if your dog is sick and needs a vet but you need the money for your vacation, w**d, manicure/ pedicure or your hair needs a color & cut.
Press 9 if you are elderly and want to adopt a cute puppy who is active and is going to outlive you, cause you will fall and break a hip & you have ZERO relatives after this happens to help with the dog.
Press 10 if your relative has died and you don’t want to care for
their elderly dog because it doesn’t fit your lifestyle. Press pound pound if we need to pu the pet within 4 minutes.
Press 11 if your cat is biting and not using the litter box because
it is declawed, but you are not willing to accept the responsibility
that the cat’s behavior is altered because of YOUNG nice furniture.
Press 12 if your two-year old male dog is marking all over your house but you just haven’t gotten around to having him neutered.
Press 13 if you previously had an outdoor only dog and are calling because she is suddenly pregnant.
Press 14 if you are calling at 5 a.m. to make sure you wake me up before I have to go to work so you can drop a dog off on your way to work.
Press 15 to leave us an anonymous garbled message, letting us know you have left a dog in our yard in the middle of January, which is in fact, better than just leaving the dog with no message.
Press 16 if you are going to get angry because we are not going to take your dog that you have had for fifteen years, because it is not our responsibility.
Press 17 if you are going to threaten ME to take your ten-year old dog to be euthanized because we can't take it because 55 others are in line ahead of you.
Press 18 if you’re going to get angry because the volunteers had the audacity to go on vacation and leave the dogs in care of a trusted volunteer who is not authorized to take your personal pet.
Press 19 if you want one of our PERFECTLY trained, hypoallergenic, under 9 pound female dogs that are housebroken, kid and cat friendly purebred that we have an abundance of.
Press 20 if you want us to take your dog that has a slight aggression problem, i.e. has only bitten a few people and killed your neighbor’s cats.
Press 21 if you have already called once and been told we don’t take personal surrenders but thought you would get a different person this time with a different answer.
Press 22 if you want us to use space that would go to a stray to
board your personal dog while you are on vacation, free of charge, of course.
Press 23 if it is Christmas Eve or Easter morning and you want me to deliver an eight week old puppy to your house by 6:30 am before your kids wake up- oh and it needs to never bark or never p*e in the house
Press 24 if you have bought your children a duckling, chick or baby bunny for Easter and it is now Christmas and no longer cute.
Press 25 if you want us to take your female dog who has already had ten litters, but we can’t spay her because she is pregnant again and it is against your religion.
Press 26 if you’re lying to make one of our younger volunteers feel bad and take your personal pet off your hands.
Press 27 if you have done ā€œeverythingā€ to housebreak your dog and have had no success but you don’t want to crate the dog because it is cruel, you also refuse to gate the dog into a secure area like a kitchen or nook
Press 28 if you didn’t listen to the message asking for an evening phone number and you left your work number when all volunteers are also working and you are angry because no one called you back.
Press 29 if you need a puppy immediately and cannot wait because today is your daughter’s birthday and you forgot when she was born.
Press 30 if your dog’s coat doesn’t match your new furniture and you need a different color or breed.
Press 31 if your new f$&k buddy doesn’t like your dog and you are too
stupid to get rid of the new friend (who will dump you in the next
month anyway) instead of the dog.
Press 32 if you went through all these ā€˜options’ and didn’t hear
enough. This press will connect you to the sounds of tears being shed by one of our volunteers who is holding a discarded old dog while the vet mercifully frees him from the grief of missing his family.

Phil was with us originally and we had no interest in him so New Leash On Life (Wisconsin) took him and he has done great in his foster home but he is still looking for his very own home.

***ADOPTED!!***

Happy šŸ’™PHILšŸ’™ (aka ā€œPhilly/Philly Cheesesteakā€) Friday! šŸ„‚ This handsome young man is still with us in foster care…and we just CANNOT believe it! 🤯🄺 Phil celebrated his 1st birthday back in March, and although we couldn’t gift him with a forever family before his special day…he told us he’d GLADLY accept a home as a *belated* birthday present! šŸ™šŸ¼šŸŽ‰ Phil was born in a sister shelter of ours on 3/2/23. After 9 months of life there with no interest (…seriously šŸ˜šŸ’”), Phil started to get quite depressed and was declining. He knew that shelter life just couldn’t be all there was…and he yearned for the love of family he’d never known. One of our incredibly gracious foster families opened up their home to this sweet, sweet boy, and he (+ WE šŸ«¶šŸ¼šŸ«¶šŸ¼) couldn’t be more thankful! šŸ˜ So although he’s made it from shelter —> foster home…we’d LOVE to see him make that final step to —> FOREVER FAMILY!! šŸ¤žšŸ¼šŸ¤žšŸ¼šŸ¤žšŸ¼ Could you please help us by sharing this cute boy’s story??

Phil (male) is now 1 year & 2 months old. He is listed as a German shepherd mix…but we truly aren’t sure of his breed(s). šŸ¤·šŸ¼ā€ā™€ļø We’d love to see a DNA test done on this cutie! Being the runt of his litter, Phil is fully grown @ right around 50lbs…so he’s just the most perfect medium-sized pup! This works out well for both Phil and his people, because his all time favorite thing = LAP CUDDLES!! 🄰🄰 His ideal place is snuggled up on his foster mom…so if you’re looking for a snuggle-pup, Phil. Is. Your. Dude. šŸ™ŒšŸ¼šŸ™ŒšŸ¼šŸ™ŒšŸ¼ He is a lap dog through and through! He doesn’t believe in personal space when it comes to snuggle sessions. Mid-day naps? Yes please! āœ… Blankets? ALL of them! āœ… Belly rubs? Obviously. šŸ˜āœ… Seriously, he’s the sweetest!

Phil adores kiddos (of all ages!) and gets along wonderfully with other dogs. He loves to play, romp, and wrestle with the other younger dog in his foster home! 🐾 His favorite toys are his stuffed animals, but will happily play with toys of all types! He is 100% potty-trained (WINšŸ’Æ) and is crate-trained. He was initially a bit timid around his foster dad (he tends to gravitate a bit more towards females & children), but his family has been awesome at working with him + exposing him to plenty of men…so Phil would truly be a great fit for a family/home of any kind! ā˜ŗļø As for kitties…we can’t attest that he’s ever met one, so his status with cats is currently unknown.

Phil has been dreaming of finding his family for 442 days. ā³ We’ve PROMISED him that his forever is out there somewhere…searching for him, too. 🄹🄹 Is it you?? If this precious boy sounds like the one for you, please apply + reach out via private message. Just ask for Mr. Philly Cheesesteak himself! šŸ§€šŸ™ƒšŸ’›šŸ’›
