Animal Welfare Approved, Pastured Heritage Poultry, Eggs, Meat Birds, Chicks, Hens
NonGMO verified, Organic

***Orchard Grass Hay: small square and round bales*** All of our poultry is pasture raised and Animal Welfare Approved. We hatch our own chicks to keep our flock safe from any contamination of outside producers and to mai

ntain the AWA status. We raise both meat birds and layers, Chickens, Turkeys and Ducks. (We also sell chicks (straight run only), pullets and raised hens. We do not have breed specific capabilities at this time.) We sell Chicken and Duck Eggs, roasting duck and this will be our first year with Turkeys, in time for Thanksgiving. Once the the turkey started following around BikerChick and asking to be held, she wan't about to go into a freezer. Instead she lays eggs for us. Our Beef is purely grass fed and grass finished born and raised on a certified Organic Farm. (**Certified since 1988.) The only corn they see are the remnants from harvest and stalks left standing in the field. Calves born on the farm this year will be certified Organic. Pork: Pastured and finished on Organic Grain. Never confined. Often seen running around playing with our Great Pyrenees. You can find prices in our General Information section or by emailing us directly. Thank you for viewing our page. We try to keep you informed as well as posting the photos of the animals.

This is awful…. And was fact checked.

WOW…. Just incredible

Here is something else ALL of us should seriously ponder:

Never before in history has there been this amount of “accidental destruction” of the food supply chain. Reuters and others say there is no evidence that the last 12 months of incidents were intentional or planned. But the sheer numbers statistically are very alarming. Call me crazy. Call me a conspiracy theorist. I don’t care. When the numbers and frequency begin to rise this drastically, simple logic should tell you SOMETHING IS GOING ON HERE.

You guys are going to crack up.
Maybe not as much as I did. I rolled.

Last night I learned who was adorning our driveway chicken!!!!!

Can you believe it???

It was a couple young kids…totally harmless. They didn’t steal it or know who did, I think they were kinda bummed it disappeared too.

They actually climbed the pole to do the decorating.

Gotta love the farm life.
I couldn’t believe it. Probably the funniest conversation I’ve had in months. ❤️❤️😆

And 6 years later, a mystery is solved.

Xo

OOOOOHHHHH NOOOOOO!
Calling all locals!

Our rooster disappeared last night.

We haven't received a ransom note so we have hopes it will return dressed (pun intended) as a Thanksgiving turkey.
(or it's a disgruntled ex-employee)

If anyone sees it, please let us know.

A little veggie advice for dogs on todays reading list. Enjoy.

https://fourleafrover.com/blogs/natural-health/sulforaphane-for-dogs

Research shows that dogs who eat their veggies at least three times a week have a 90% decrease in cancer risk (1). But when it comes to cancer, some vegetables stand out from the rest, especially cruciferous vegetables. That’s because cruciferous vegetables contain a special phytonutrient that has...

Us trying to figure out where Jack might be the other night.
Found him behind the shrubs against the house overlooking the field. I think he was waiting for his nemesis to walk by in the field below.
Then he would pounce. As much as the big old guy could pounce. He could definitely scare them away. He has a guardian bark and demeanor. He’s just so chill around those he knows it really shocks some people. He knows how to do his job.
We just prefer he does it close to his flock and herd.
For If he can get out - that usually means something else can get in.

The chronicles of Jack, Or was it escapades

He’s been out every day.

Yesterday - 4 times.
Discovered on the farm house porch when our farmhand exited at dark- thirty this am.

Jack has Bonded to him.

This is good because he goes there once he’s finished with his patrol.
(I got married and try to sleep elsewhere.)

We Discovered Jack’s reason for his escape- coyote tracks….

This is bad.

Close

Too close

And they (coyotes) know the difference with Jill’s absence. Jack could take down one but a pack…. And we have a strong, large, pack.

Ugh

Jack is nothing if not determined. The first photo is Jack on my security camera. He is standing outside the fence, waiting for someone to come home, and let him back in to the pasture.

The second photo is just a depiction of how filthy he is. He dug through snow, and created mud, to get under the fence. His tail is loaded with burrs.

He was stuck under the fence yesterday afternoon. Once freed he wandered around the farm house then back Into his domaine.

You may remember the amount of repairs we did a few years ago. He was getting out constantly. I would find him laying in the driveway, next to the Jeep. Waiting for me to let him back in the barn. All I had to do was say “Good Morning Jack, let’s go” and he would stand, nod, and saunter down the hill with me.

It’s going to be a long winter for a very dirty dog. I’d rather not anesthetize him in the cold weather. There’s no other way to groom out the burrs. He hates scissors. So…. Now….
The plan is to shave him in the spring.

Stay tuned for another episode of Jack’s escapades.

This was jack about a month ago. December 4th.

Today this scene looks white with snow and animal tracks. Winter has arrived. 10 degrees. Snow. Ice. And today a Wintery mix and weather warning.

There’s a shift in the barnyard with Jill’s passing. The sheep are challenging Jack. At least the Ewe… poor guy.

A first- He tenaciously tried getting out yesterday while I was feeding the hens. He’s always been an escape artist but usually waits until I am gone!

I wondered if it was something around the hen house. (I still didn’t get the weasel)
I’m trying to move the hens but it’s a slow road. Especially when no one wants to be out in the snow.

So…. I put treats in the new section only.
They can’t resist mealworms. Hopefully they will go exploring and find the food, water, and nest boxes.

That’s the update since my return from my honeymoon.

Ps: This photo: Jack digs a hole big enough to plop his entire body into, but with an edge that keeps his head level. They’re everywhere… ❤️

Happy New Year to you all from the new Mrs. Shaw.

There’s a weasel stealing my eggs.
Ugh
2 traps set but it’s still helping itself.

Jill... she’s been getting freezer meat along with her RawPaws brand raw diet.
(I took she and Jack off dry dog food when we got her cancer diagnosis.)

In Today’s video, Jill is enjoying the turkey neck my brother in law would have devoured on Thanksgiving. ❣️

(I don’t think he minds at all. )

She has been enjoying daily belly rubs, reiki (on and off site), and more love every day.
Most days I sit with her while she eats. Unless she ignores the food in exchange for affection. Then I fill water buckets until she finishes eating and often help her finish by hand feeding. She also cleans it up quickly if I put it on the ground. She does not like things in the pasture that do not belong.

Her diet these days consists of raw turkey, beef, tripe (her favorite), and chicken, Occasionally some Fresh Pet beef, and green beans.

(Whatever it takes... At least I finally figured out how to get her meds in!

She isn’t going to be with us much longer and deserves whatever I can do to make her happy.

Jill was all about a belly rub today. (After she ate her dinner.) I had to leave and so my other chores because she preferred loving and wouldn’t eat. She has been really cuddly lately.
She and Jack actually played a little bit after they ate too.
That makes my heart so very happy.

My Poor girl. She lays and sleeps a lot lately.

11/21/2021

Hey there peeps

Thought you would like an update on Jill….

She’s running around on 3 legs. Sleeping or laying down more often then anything.
Her tumor is growing.
The visible one. Sadly…. That means the ones we cannot see are growing at the same pace.

It’s starting to break through skin. I tried a topical on it but she either kicks it off or runs away. I managed colloidal silver which is probably better then most other sprays.

She’s eating approx 1 1/2 - 2 lbs of a great brand of raw food, daily. Thank goodness. If I don’t add the 2nd chewable medicine she eats the main one. She still won’t take the pain meds more than once a day.

Unfortunately, the news isn’t good. I don’t think she’s going to be with us for much longer.

This was heartwarming to see. It’s been pretty heartbreaking. She has 5 tumors - ridiculously aggressive. Amputation was...

This was heartwarming to see.
It’s been pretty heartbreaking.
She has 5 tumors - ridiculously aggressive. Amputation was not an option, nor is any major surgery due to one of the tumors.
She’s on pain medicine. If I don’t give her the chewable she takes the others without my even hiding them.

She’s eating really well - both in quality and quantity.

And she’s working.
She sleeps hard and she lays down a lot more often. Thank the Lord.
They hide so much so well.

She’s finally lost that real heartbreaking sadness from her eyes. To be brutally honest, I don’t think she liked my finding out what everything she was hiding.
I watch her eyes for pain. And my cameras too.

Thank you all for the love, prayers and healing energy.
We don’t know how long she has but she’s happy in the pasture with Jack and the sheep.

09/30/2021

2nd opinion recommended a surgeon instead of their office so Jill is scheduled to October 7.

They felt a biopsy should be taken of the bone to determine if it can be saved, repaired, etc. or if it cannot then amputation would be the only option.

On the bright side, she is keeping her weight off it most of the time, she ate out of my hand (a first), and looks like she’s in a better mood. I think the pain meds are working. Now we have 1 more week... this poor beautiful dog.

She had 2 meals today. 💕

09/29/2021

Jill’s update.

To fill everyone in...

Jill’s lump appears to be a cancerous tumor. It has been working hard at eroded her ulna and radius.

The radius is broken from what looks like the pressure of the tumor (combined with the weakening).

To give you a little history. She’s been looked at by our local vet once a month since July. About 2 weeks ago - now that it’s Wednesday- I noticed it grew overnight. Next day even larger. Then she started limping. I believe that is when her radius bone cracked.
I’ve been trying all the pain meds tricks since then. (Grateful the vet got them together for me on the same day I asked.) I’d say I’ve been successful getting her to take them about 50% of the time.

She’s been eating. Raw, grass fed, ground beef is her favorite.

Today she only ate a little bit of food. (I tried “fresh pet” without any meds.)
When she quit eating, I used a child’s syringe to get the pain meds in her mouth. I cannot imagine what it tasted like. She ate grass for a few minutes. Came back for loving, and laid down.

One more day.

Friday we see another vet for a second opinion. This office as an associate that has orthopedic experience.

Our local vet recommended amputation. I needed more opinions before doing so.
I’m sure you can understand.

I just want to keep the pain level as low as possible without overdosing her.

Her tail is wagging and she even did her happy dance on 3 legs.
I’m just grateful for that and the fact that she is laying down.

She happy with Jack and her sheep.

Stay tuned.

Thank God for friends.

We got a Jill in the car.
She took off at the vets office and a friend caught her.

She’s smart.

She’s already had her fill of humans today. It’s only 8am.

My guess Is she will come home with an antibiotic. She doesn’t eat out of a hand so we will try anything you all recommend If we can do it in a bowl Or on the ground. Lol

This is us trying to give Jill pain meds. I’ve used a syringe and straight shot into her mouth.
Pills wrapped in cheese.
Pills wrapped in cheese, wrapped in raw beef.
Crushed and sprinkled on a steak, or liver....
peanut butter...
it ain’t happening.

She is so smart. She is really obedient. She is ridiculously stubborn.

So.... I rub an herbal anti inflammatory cream around her leg.
I spray an herbal anti inflammatory oil on her lump.

I keep telling her 1 more day.

Tomorrow is surgery day.

I’m really grateful To all the people that adopted (I hope) pets over this past year.
We need some of them to send their kids to school to become veterinarians!!! The wait time for Jill’s surgery was painful. For both of us.

Please send Prayers, reiki, love.
Whatever you’ve got.

One more day.

It’s been a long time since I posted a PSA.

Today is about eggs. Via Dr. Mercola’s website this is a reminder to know your farmer or raise a few birds. (feed them Organic feed) Eggs from Pastured birds have a different Omega 3 & 6 balance than the free range/ conventional eggs. Making them extremely healthy in comparison.

There are many drug free ways to combat cholesterol and you can keep eating eggs. The good ones.

Look for the orange yolk!

The gap between these two essential fats continue to widen in this staple food. Find out how restoring balance may help bring about better health.

Our Story

We are NON-GMO verified and in preparation for organic certification, have followed the organic standards to a tee for 7 years. We purchase only organic feeds where necessary. All of our poultry is pasture raised and Animal Welfare Approved. We hatch our own chicks to keep our flock safe from any contamination of outside producers and to maintain our AWA status.

We raise both meat birds and layers, Chickens and Turkeys. (We also sell chicks (straight run only), pullets and raised hens. We do not have breed specific capabilities at this time. We sell Chicken Eggs, chicken and duck carcasses for bone broth and Occasionally Turkeys, in time for Thanksgiving. Our oldest turkey started following us around asking to be held, she will never go into a freezer. Instead she lays eggs for us. We’ve been told they are the best eggs for baking.

We have eliminated the ducks for now but will update everyone if that changes. You can find prices in our General Information section or by emailing us directly. Thank you for viewing our page. We try to keep you informed as well as posting the photos of the animals.

Side note: We have hay for sale. Dry and barn stored.
