FRANK SCHOENBORN current president of the Wichita Bird Dog Club and long time field trialer has recently been elected to the Kansas Field Trial Hall of Fame. Frank has worked tirelessly to promote field trials in the State of Kansas as well as being a fierce competitor. He has held offices in the KFTCA and judged many local trials as well as Championships and Classics. The Kansas English Setter Association Congratulates Frank on his election.

AIR CAPITOL FIELD TRIAL CLUB ran their Fall TRIAL at Atlanta, Ks. this past weekend.
There was one Setter placing in the trial.
FIREBUG took second in the AM. SD jcf. She is owned by Chuck Maxson.
Pixie is out of Bugs n Dirt and Iron Afire.

Getting caught up with the Fall results Lindsey Wagner placed her Cal ESM at Jim Ogle's Trial at Talbot. Cal place second in the Am. SD jcf. Cal is by Bugs N Dirt and Hot Metal.

They are running a full slate of NBHA Open and Amateur Stakes on Nov. 18 & 19, 2023.

ROCK SPRINGS FTC Fall trial produced several English Setter winners during their 2023 event.

In the Open Derby stake Paul Roderer placed ''Regal Rocket" first and then took 3rd with " Sovereign Rocket" a couple of real nice Derbies.

In the Puppy Stake Amanda Boggs won 1st with Dakota and 3rd with Shay, two nice females.

Results of English Setter placements Wichita Bird Dog Clug Fall Trial.

Am. Shooting Dog jcf winner was Chuck Kenny with his Rose ESF. Second place was Pixie ESF owned by Chuck Maxson.

Derby winner was Regal Rocket ESM who took second.

Winners in the Puppy stake taking second and third was Amanda Boggs females Dakota and Shay.

Nice results from WBDC for setter nation.

I received some sad news from Ross Wagner long time English Setter owner and breeder. He informed me his multiple winner Bugs N Dirt recently passed. Dogs name was Floyd and he did a lot of winning over his career. Floyd won NBHA Titles in 2018, 2019 and 2020. He won Kansas Field Trial Associations Shooting Dog of the Year jc@f 4 years in a row. Won the Missouri title in 2019. In 2018 and 2019 he was Runner-up Kansas English Setter of the Year winner. Bugs N Dirt was only bred twice. Of those 13 off spring he produced 9 that were field trial winners. Setter breeders missed the boat not breeding to him. As a side note at Floyds peak Ross Wagner had health issues that prevented him from running the dog. Those duties were taken over by his daughter Lindsy Wagner who placed Floyd in all the above trials.

KANSAS NEWS:

Frank Schorenborn, President of Wichita Bird Dog Club recently exited the hospital after serious back surgery. It looks like he will be out of commission for 6 weeks. He told me he is already feeling better as the pain was less. We sincerely hope he recovers as quickly as possible. Let's give Frank a call and let him know we are thinking about him.

The Wichita Bird Dog Club held its annual summer meeting and cook out last night at the home of Don and Linda Beauchamp in rural Cheney, Kansas. There were approximately 20 in attendance with lots of good food and fellowship. Linda Beauchamp layed out a desert table that was to die for.

The Meeting was conducted by Frank Schorneborn, Pres. and Brad Tayler, Sec. Trial dates for Fall Trial at Dexter, Kansas will be Oct. 22,23 &27 with a Thursday start if horseback entries call for it. They will run a hour Horseback Shooting Dog Stake, 30 Min. Restricted Shooting Dog, 30 Min. Derby Stake (SD) and a full slate of Open and Am. NBHA Walking Stakes. It's hot now however trial season is just around the corner.

KANSAS ENGLISH SETTER ASSOCIATION STANDING FOR THIS PAST SEASON.

As most of you are aware the the KFTCA has been in some turmoil with two resignations this season. With the Sec-Trea gone the dog of the year points were not being kept up. Fortunately Mr. Paul Ott has stepped in and taken over the Sec- Tres position and has recently posted the Dog of the Year standings. It is from these points that we pull the English Setter of the Year points.

The following is a list as it stands now. If you are a Setter owner and these points don't jive with your count please advise now as the KFTCA summer meeting is June 5th at Falls City, NB.
