๏ปฟOver the years, we realized that thare aren't many collies to rescue in FL (especially when there are a few other 'collie rescue' groups out there...), but there are many animals who desperately need our help and need to be placed in fur-ever homes. Although our focus is still collies (rough & smooth)๏ปฟ, we may occassionally take in n
on-collies (non-dogs) in order to help them find good homes the they deserve. (However, we are legally still Collie Rescue of Tampa Bay, Inc. due to tax exemption purpose.)

For kittens less than 1.5 lbs., we are in need of fosters to help raise them until they are old enough for adoption. Fosters must be able to care for the kittens for up to 8 weeks and be able to bring them in for regular check-ups and boosters.

Your pets should be indoors ALL THE TIME. But if they are not, PLEASE bring them inside now & keep them safe.
Here are some tips for dog owners to ensure their pets stay safe and calm during the 4th of July celebrations:
1. Create a Safe Space
Prepare a Quiet Room: Set up a quiet, comfortable space in your home where your dog can retreat if they feel scared or overwhelmed. Include their favorite toys, blankets, and perhaps some calming music to mask the noise of fireworks.
Use a Crate: If your dog feels secure in their crate, make it extra cozy and place it in a room where the noise is less noticeable.
2. Exercise Before Festivities
Long Walks or Play Sessions: Ensure your dog gets plenty of exercise earlier in the day to help tire them out. A tired dog is more likely to remain calm and relaxed.
Mental Stimulation: Engage your dog with puzzle toys or training sessions to help expend their energy.
3. Keep Them Indoors
Stay Inside: Keep your dog indoors during fireworks displays to prevent them from running away if they get scared. Close windows and doors to minimize noise and secure any potential escape routes.
Avoid Bringing Them to Fireworks Shows: Even if your dog is generally calm, the loud noises and crowds can be overwhelming and stressful.
4. Comfort and Distract
Use Calming Products: Consider using products like anxiety wraps, calming collars, or pheromone diffusers to help ease your dog's anxiety.
Provide Distractions: Give your dog something to focus on, like a long-lasting chew toy or a food puzzle, to keep them occupied and distracted from the noise outside.
Additional Tips
Update Identification: Ensure your dogโs ID tags and microchip information are up-to-date in case they do manage to escape.
Consult Your Vet: If your dog has severe anxiety, consult your veterinarian about possible medications or supplements that could help keep them calm during the fireworks.

At 12:10 she ran out of front door and she went Bamboo Dr S to Emerson Ave S to 64 St S to 5th Ave S to 63rd St up to Central to 62 St N cut through shopping Plaza back to 63 St N cut through house where I lost her then man saw her at 63 St and 4th Ave N last seen at 12:34 pm there.
6:00 pm eyes on her on lakeshore drive and 4th avenue area

It's HOT! ๐ฅ๐ฅ๐ฅ In Florida, it's that time of year - please remember to take extra care of your pups in the sultry, summer weather. ๐
Steps to prevent heat stroke in your pups:
๐ถ Limit time outdoors
๐ถ NEVER leave them in the car
๐ถ Give them plenty of water and shade
๐ถ Stay off hot pavements and concrete
๐ถ Moderate exercise
If you think your pup has suffered heat stroke, contact your vet immediately!
