Please make sure to spay/neuter your pets in order to prevent pet overpopulation. 🐾🐈🐕🐈‍⬛🐾

“FREE” kittens? If they can’t afford to adopt a cat/kitten, what makes you think they can afford to care for it? Far too many wind up in the streets, whether when they come home with a kitten and the adult says “No, get rid of it!”, or the cat starts spraying, or she gets pregnant, or they can no longer afford to buy food or litter . . . So many reasons.

“Oh, but he’s/she’s an indoor cat, I don’t need to neuter him/her.” Let me just say here, when Mother Nature comes calling, cats WILL find a way out.

Yes accidents happen, pregnancy happens, depending on your beliefs, she can be spayed during pregnancy. Or if you don’t believe in spaying while pregnant and decide to let her go full term, surrender the kittens to a rescue. This will give them a better chance at a good life. Then, PLEASE neuter your cat!

I’m not talking about one or two litters being given away, I’m talking thousands upon thousands of litters. Just in my area I see new listings of litters being given away daily.

STOP THE VICIOUS CIRCLE!

My dream is for all us TNR advocates to no longer be needed.

Highly Pathogenic Avian Influenza (HPAI), which very rarely infects humans, is suspected to be the cause of over 60 deceased Canada geese, swans, and other birds in Plymouth.

⚠️ Avoid handling wildlife, especially birds that are dead or appear sick
⚠️ Report if you observe 5 or more dead birds
⚠️ Keep pets away from wildlife (Cats are highly susceptible to HPAI and should be kept indoors to prevent exposure to infected wildlife)

DON’T LET YOUR DOG RIDE IN AN OPEN TRUCK BED

An estimated 100,000 dogs die annually as a result of being transported in the bed of a truck!

Please note…that number only reflects fatalities. An even larger number are severely injured due to this practice.

Open truck beds do not provide any protection from the weather. Hot sun can heat the metal floor of a truck bed enough to burn a pet’s paw pads or skin. Additionally, a dog left sitting in the broiling sun without water or shade may suffer from heat stroke in a very short period of time.

While many dogs appear to enjoy the wind in their faces, airborne debris, dust particles and other irritants can cause significant damage to a pet's eyes, ears and respiratory passages.

Do not leash or tie your pet to any portion of the truck bed. Many dogs have been strangled when tossed or bumped over the side of the truck and been left helplessly dangling. Be it the result of a collision or simply an unexpected attempt to jump from the vehicle, tying you dog to the truck is a dangerous practice.

If your dog must ride in the back of the truck, put the pet inside a crate that will give it some protection from the wind and weather. Tie the crate SECURELY to the walls of the truck bed so it cannot slide about or be tossed out of the truck.

Louie was brought in from Carnes Road on 10/31/24 as a stray.
Louie is believed to be a rough collie between 1-2 years, Louie is sweet as can be and definitely likes car rides (he hopped right in the truck).
Unfortunately Louie was not micro chipped .

Old Dog Haven home FOUND!!!

PERMANENT FOSTER HOME FOUND
(in W. Washington state or Portland OR only)

12 year old Spayed female sheltie or small collie, who weighs 44 pounds. What a beautiful girl she is now after rehab by a kind friend! She is housebroken, has lived with other dogs, but isn't a fan of cats. Stairs are hard for her and she probably has kidney disease developing. She needs a home to care for and about her. Old Dog Haven will pay all of her vet bills (thanks to donations) once we find a home to send her to.

Old Dog Haven has no facility or shelter, every dog we take into our care goes into a private home-a home that has been thoroughly vetted. There's a process to become a forever foster for us that includes a home visit which is why sending dogs outside of W. Washington or Portland, OR is not possible. We know this is frustrating to some but please remember, we have the dogs' best interest in mind and hope those of you who live outside of our foster area will still share our plea because you may reach someone who can foster for us!

We appreciate that so many of you want to help senior dogs. If you are not in our area, check with your local rescues and shelters about fostering or adopting. There are senior dogs (and dogs of all ages) in need everywhere.
