Pawsome Partners Make a Purrfect Difference! A Big Thank You to Suncoast Animal League!
Pawsome Partners Make a Purrfect Difference! A Big Thank You to Suncoast Animal League!
From the bottom of our whiskered hearts, a HUGE meow of gratitude to our incredible friends at Suncoast Animal League! This past weekend, Second Chance for Strays found ourselves with a big task – helping US Army Veteran, Paul, and the 14 stray cats he was caring for.
A Hero in Need:
Paul, facing homelessness, couldn't bear to abandon these vulnerable animals. He stepped up to be their protector, while also dealing with his own immense challenges. Thankfully, with the help of Paul's amazing HUD-VASH Social Worker, Ciera (kudos to YOU – Paul says you broke the mold!), he's now in a temporary hotel that allows his two beloved cats.
Sharing the Love:
However, that left 14 furry friends needing safe haven. Suncoast Animal League, ever the champions for cats in need, stepped up in a major way! They generously agreed to take on the three adult stray cats: Ulltima, Urek, and Uriah.
Suncoast will ensure these sweet kitties receive all the medical care they need, get spayed/neutered, and find loving forever homes. This incredible partnership allows us to focus on finding homes for the remaining kittens and young adult cats still in our care.
Together We Make a Difference:
We are so grateful to Suncoast Animal League for their unwavering support and collaboration. Stories like Paul's highlight the importance of community and the power of working together to help those in need, both human and feline!
Stay tuned for updates on the remaining cats as they find their forever homes! In the meantime, you can visit our website or social media pages to learn more about adopting a furry friend in need.

Posie's New Chapter: Sweet Black Beauty Seeks Loving Home!
Meet Posie, a stunning 5-year-old black cat with a charming white belly spot! Through no fault of her own, Posie found herself needing a new start when her previous owner's circumstances changed. This sweet and friendly girl is ready to blossom in a loving and forever home. ✨
Posie's Purrfect Blooms:
Affectionate Soul: Posie is a cuddle bug at heart. She craves attention and pets, readily rewarding you with happy purrs and head nudges. Expect biscuit-making sessions (rhythmic kneading) as a sign of her contentment.
Gentle Spirit: Posie has a gentle and loving nature. She enjoys human companionship and will happily follow you around the house, soaking up your love.
Hidden Beauty: While Posie's fur might be a little rough right now due to her previous situation, with proper care and good food, she'll transform back into the sleek black beauty she once was!
Posie's Ideal Garden (We Mean Home!)
A Loving and Stable Family: Posie would thrive in a calm and loving home with a dedicated family who can shower her with the affection she desires. She would appreciate a gentle approach and a safe space to feel comfortable.
Time and Attention: Posie craves human interaction and would do best in a home where someone is present to give her the love and attention she deserves.
A Safe Haven: A home with a consistent routine and minimal loud noises would make Posie feel most secure. She might also enjoy a window perch for some relaxing bird-watching.
Ready to Offer Posie a Place to Blossom?
If you're seeking a loving and gentle cat who will reward you with endless affection and purrs, then Posie could be your purrfect match! She's already spayed and litter box trained.

From Hero to Homeless: A US Army Veteran
** UPDATE: The temporary housing has not yet come through for Paul. He is sleeping on a hammock at a friend's home while another friend temporarily cares for his two cats. He is in daily contact with HUD-VASH. If anyone can assist, we can connect you with Paul. **
From Hero to Homeless: Veteran Facing Homelessness Risks Losing More Than Just a Roof
Paul, a US Army veteran, faces a devastating blow – homelessness. This Monday, Paul is set to lose his housing less than a year after he lost the love of his life, Donna. But Paul's story isn't just about his own struggles, it's about the unwavering compassion of a man facing hardship.
A Heart Bigger Than His Worries: Ciera, a HUD-VASH Social Worker, contacted Second Chance for Strays, painting a heartbreaking picture. "Paul lost the love of his life, Donna, last year, and now this. It's a double whammy," she explained. "But even in the midst of his own crisis, Paul couldn't turn away a stray mama cat and her litter who needed help."
Paul became their unlikely hero, protecting the mother and her nine tiny kittens from the dangers of the street. This act of selflessness becomes even more remarkable when you consider Paul already cares for his own two beloved cats, companions who have seen him through thick and thin.
Facing Crisis, Helping Others: Even amidst his own turmoil, Paul prioritized the safety of these vulnerable animals. This selfless act paints a powerful picture of a man defined by his bravery and kindness. Ciera, touched by Paul's dedication, managed to secure him temporary housing in a hotel that allows pets, ensuring his two furry companions wouldn't be separated from him during this difficult time.
The Challenge Remains: Second Chance for Strays has stepped in, pulling the mother cat and her kittens to safety, and finding temporary housing for one additional stray cat Paul was feeding – a total of 11 rescued animals today. However, the fight isn't over. Paul feeds and cares for 3 additional fri

Update - Bonnie has been adopted!!!💜
Bonnie - ‘I was found wandering alone, pregnant and hungry in the middle of a forest. A kind human heard my cries, found me and brought me home. I gave birth to three handsome boys, Benji, Banjo and Bosco, who were all adopted by the same family and are very spoiled. Now it’s MY turn to find a forever home. I am a sweet, loving, curious, smart and grateful little diluted calico girl who loves to play and explore. I absolutely love attention and affection and will give you unconditional love. Would you like to share your home with me? If you have another kitty that also loves to play, that would be awesome! We will be BFFs 💕 Please call Cynthia, my foster mom, at 727-743-3906 for more details.
