Babs and Body - A pair of kittens who we rescued from a parking lot on US 19, with a large appetite for food and love! We tried asking them for a proper photo but were a bit too busy eating…

Danny - a shy silly little black kitten who may be a bit timid but is an absolute ball of joy once he gets comfortable with you!

Victor - And last but not least we have Victor, a cat rescued from a house riddled with termites. He’s looking for a new, permanent home!

Shae, This beautiful, affectionate, playful girl needs a very special home. A quiet environment with someone with patience and understanding. She has some neurological issues that don’t allow complete control of toileting. She will wear a diaper. She has improved and uses her box probably 75% of the time as opposed to 0% a couple months ago. (Poops are solid and easy to pick up). We are hoping that since we have seen improvement, that there is hope. She loves attention wants to be in your lap. Will ti**le a little if frightened or excited. This is Patti, a beautiful little one year-old Tortie who was rescued from a rough neighborhood, living on the streets desperately searching for food. She had already been fixed and did not join a cat colony like many TNVR cats do. We learned that she does not get along well with other cats, so she was a loner. Maybe Patti was bullied by them. She will do well in a home with no other cats. Patti is sweet, loves attention and likes to be petted. Will someone keep her safe and give her the forever home she needs and deserves?

July 16th, 2024 Clearwater, FL — It’s kitten season, when scores of vulnerable kittens and cats are flooding into already full shelters, looking for people to love. Second Chance for Strays is proud to partner with PetSmart Charities® to bring adoptable pets to PetSmart @ Clearwater Mall

In support of the 30th Anniversary National Adoption Week, taking place July 15 – 21, 2024.

PetSmart Charities National Adoption Week in July coincides with kitten season, referring to the annual boom of kittens following peak breeding season for cats. Kittens are particularly vulnerable, and many shelters work overtime to meet their needs for care and feeding. During the in-store event, Second Chance for Strays invites all pet-lovers to come by and meet adoptable pets and spread the word in support of finding families for as many pets as possible during July National Adoption Week.

During National Adoption Week, potential pet parents can interact with adoptable pets from local animal welfare organizations at PetSmart stores across the country. With staff and volunteers on hand to help potential adopters, visitors can spend time with the cats, dogs, kittens and puppies available.

Brownie is a very sweet one and a half year-old kitty. Unfortunately, she was a abandoned by her previous owners when they moved . The neighbors saw her being chased by coyotes and she somehow made it They decided to rescue her and find her an indoor only home. She gets along with other cats and dogs. Pawsome Partners Make a Purrfect Difference! A Big Thank You to Suncoast Animal League!

From the bottom of our whiskered hearts, a HUGE meow of gratitude to our incredible friends at Suncoast Animal League! This past weekend, Second Chance for Strays found ourselves with a big task – helping US Army Veteran, Paul, and the 14 stray cats he was caring for.

A Hero in Need:

Paul, facing homelessness, couldn't bear to abandon these vulnerable animals. He stepped up to be their protector, while also dealing with his own immense challenges. Thankfully, with the help of Paul's amazing HUD-VASH Social Worker, Ciera (kudos to YOU – Paul says you broke the mold!), he's now in a temporary hotel that allows his two beloved cats.

Sharing the Love:

However, that left 14 furry friends needing safe haven. Suncoast Animal League, ever the champions for cats in need, stepped up in a major way! They generously agreed to take on the three adult stray cats: Ulltima, Urek, and Uriah.

Suncoast will ensure these sweet kitties receive all the medical care they need, get spayed/neutered, and find loving forever homes. This incredible partnership allows us to focus on finding homes for the remaining kittens and young adult cats still in our care.

Together We Make a Difference:

We are so grateful to Suncoast Animal League for their unwavering support and collaboration. Stories like Paul's highlight the importance of community and the power of working together to help those in need, both human and feline!

** UPDATE: The temporary housing has not yet come through for Paul. He is sleeping on a hammock at a friend's home while another friend temporarily cares for his two cats. He is in daily contact with HUD-VASH. If anyone can assist, we can connect you with Paul. ** From Hero to Homeless: Veteran Facing Homelessness Risks Losing More Than Just a Roof Paul, a US Army veteran, faces a devastating blow – homelessness. This Monday, Paul is set to lose his housing less than a year after he lost the love of his life, Donna. But Paul's story isn't just about his own struggles, it's about the unwavering compassion of a man facing hardship. A Heart Bigger Than His Worries: Ciera, a HUD-VASH Social Worker, contacted Second Chance for Strays, painting a heartbreaking picture. "Paul lost the love of his life, Donna, last year, and now this. It's a double whammy," she explained. "But even in the midst of his own crisis, Paul couldn't turn away a stray mama cat and her litter who needed help." Paul became their unlikely hero, protecting the mother and her nine tiny kittens from the dangers of the street. This act of selflessness becomes even more remarkable when you consider Paul already cares for his own two beloved cats, companions who have seen him through thick and thin. Update - Bonnie has been adopted!!!💜 Bonnie - ‘I was found wandering alone, pregnant and hungry in the middle of a forest. A kind human heard my cries, found me and brought me home. I gave birth to three handsome boys, Benji, Banjo and Bosco, who were all adopted by the same family and are very spoiled. Now it’s MY turn to find a forever home.
