Isn’t FeFe just pretty!

Fahaka pufferfish can reach up to 43 cm (1.4 ft) in length. They have the ability to inflate when threatened and, like many puffers, carry the toxin tetrodotoxin. Fahaka pufferfish, like other molluscivores, feed mainly on benthic organisms which may include freshwater mussels and snails.

We have available this awesome Veiled Chameleon!

Fun Facts:

1. Chameleons always have their eyes on you.
Chameleons’ eyes are capable of being adjusted individually, with each eye having a rotational capacity of 180 degrees. This means that they can keep one eye straight while the other looks around, or even have both rotate to get a 360-degree scope of their surroundings.

2. Their color change is not just a survival instinct.
Most people are under the impression that chameleons only change colors to blend in with their environment, but that’s not entirely the case, according to chameleon breeder Elan Miller.

β€œA lot of people think if they put a chameleon on a color, they’ll change to it. That is false rumor. They change color with mood,” Miller stated.
The different color tones can also help regulate the chameleon’s body temperature.

3. Chameleons’ tongues are their secret weapon.
A chameleon’s tongue is incredibly fast, catching prey within a fraction of a second and exceeding speeds of 41g force, according to ExoticDirect, the lead exotic pet insurer in the UK, making it nearly impossible for their next meal to escape.

4. Chameleons cannot regrow their tail.
Most lizards have the ability to regenerate a severed tail, but not chameleons. Their tail essentially acts like another limb and is not designed to be able to break off, so if it does they will, unfortunately, never have another.

5. Chameleon spit is incredibly sticky.
Like a spider using its sticky web for prey, chameleons use their spit to coat the prey they catch with their tongues and pull them inwards to their mouth. Their spitis400 times stickier than a human’s, according to ExoticDirect.
These 5 facts are just a few of the interesting things to learn about chameleons but there is still so much more to explore about the species.

We have this sweet Bearded Dragon available!

Fun Facts about Bearded Dragons:

1. Bearded Dragons Can Climb Trees

Although wild bearded dragons are mostly terrestrial, they are technically semi-arboreal and can become expert tree climbers when neededβ€”say, when food is unavailable at ground level or when they're being pursued by a predator. As avid baskers, they'll also scale trees for a good patch of sun or to bask at a higher level than another bearded dragon, which a symbol of dominance.

2. They Wear Their Emotions on Their Chins

The signature beard of these dragons behaves almost like a mood ring, going black when the animal feels threated, stressed, or aroused.

During these various emotional states, it can also expand and the dragon can puff up its entire body to look big. In a calm and happy state, the pouch under a beardie's chin will be similarly colored to the rest of its body with spines that rest flat against its skin.

3. They Are Legally Bound to Their Homeland

Australia has prohibited the export of its wildlife, including bearded dragons, since the '60s. Yet, even after thatβ€”between 1974 and 1990, some have estimatedβ€”a stock was smuggled out of the country for captive breeding.

Now, domestic versions of the Aussie lizard can be found all around the world (except Hawaii, where they're illegal to own because of the threat they pose to the native ecosystem).4 Though not confirmed, there are believed to be about 900 bearded dragons living in zoos globally.

4. Bearded Dragons Can Regrow Their Teeth

The ability to regenerate teeth is a quality shared by many reptiles. Bearded dragons are unique, though, in that they have both polyphyodont and monophyodont teeth, even on the same jawline. The dragons use a similar biological process to what sharks and geckos use to regrow their polyphyodont front teeth over time; if the monophyodont chompers fall out, they're gone for good.

5. They Collect Water on Their Heads

The desert where bearded dragons come from is a droughty place, and animals adapt to the arid environment with quirky ways of capturing and storing water. For the Pogona genus, one of those ways is by capturing water on its own body during rare bouts of rain. The lizards have been observed standing on their hind legs with their heads sloping downward, lapping up the water as it streams down their faces for 20 to 30 minutes at a time.

Updated…. This little guy found their forever home!!

Come on by and check out this fabulous Leopard Gecko we have available.

***Fun facts about Leopard Geckos***

1. Their gender is determined by incubation temperatures

Unlike us, leopard geckos do not have a s*x chromosome that determines whether or not they will come out as a boy or as a girl. The cool thing about that is that before you even incubate them, you can determine what gender they will be before they’re even born.

Here’s what temperatures determine exactly what gender they will be:

90 Degrees = Male
87 Degrees = Either

2. The scientific name for leopard gecko is Eublepharis macularius

We all know them by their common name ” leopard gecko ” but their scientific name is actually Eublepharis macularius. The first part of their name (eublepharis) translates to ” real or true eyelids β€œ, while the second part of their name (macularius) translates to ” spotted β€œ That translates to spotted geckos with real eyelids. Leopard geckos usually don’t gain their spots until they reach adulthood, but other than that the scientific name suits them perfectly.

3. Leopard geckos can’t walk up walls

Unfortunately leopard geckos don’t have sticky pads on the bottoms of their feet that would allow them to crawl up vertical surfaces as others geckos do. In the wild they probably wouldn’t be able to escape from predators as easily as other geckos. Having the ability to climb up on a tall rock quickly would aid very well in their survival. When kept in captivity though, this isn’t necessarily a bad thing. Being able to climb glass would only help in their efforts of escape.

4. They can bark

Here’s another interesting fact about leopard geckos, they can bark. When I say bark I don’t mean bark like a dog, but they do a leopard gecko version of a bark whenever they feel threatened. This is a defense mechanism that they do in order to scare away predators that they don’t feel they can handle.

It’s cute when it happens, but unfortunately, whenever they feel threatened, they also feel very stressed out as well. So, if this ever happens to your leopard gecko, find out what’s threatening them and then remove the threat so that they won’t be so stressed out.

This threat could be anything such as a cat, dog, another family member in the house, or even you if they are newly rehomed and haven’t gotten used to you yet. In that case, it’s best to start bonding with them straight away.

5. They change colors as they age

People who don’t own leopard geckos might get confused by this. Before they reach adulthood, leopard geckos actually don’t have the little spots that you commonly see all over their body. This is normal and is just something that happens with age.

A leopard gecko’s skin tone will also even change slightly as they get older. By the time they reach full maturity, they will likely look a lot different than they did when they were babies. This whole process takes about a year to happen and will usually occur right after their first shed.

With morphs that are solid in color, you might notice a slight change in appearance within a years time compared to when they were a baby. It really just depends on how dark they are.
