Tomorrow will be our $5 Thursday. To go towards whatever is needed at this time. Such as more heartworm meds. Flea and tick. Soft dog food. And hopefully some towards our vet bills.
The little guy from the side of the road, goes to the vet November 12th and has gotten $80 in donations. That will barely pay his visit and worming. Will still need his shots and hw test.
We have 2 neuters scheduled for December. ( Rockys has been paid for thru a very generous donation of the total amount, already paid to the vet.) And sweet Cane from the shelter, has $100 towards his neuter, which will be the day after Rockys. ( that money has already been paid to the vet)
Like every rescue, we are struggling. Trying to do things as cost effective as possible.
Had lots of dry cat food and dry dog food donated. And so many blankets! We can always use blankets and towels tho. Their beds get changed daily.

Update on Sir
1st available appointment at the vet is Nov 12th. ( altho if they get a cancelation they are going to get him in sooner) he's on a slow feed, multiple meals a day till he gains a little weight. There is no chip (go figure) I have given him flea meds and wormer him. He is eating like a champ, so I don't assume it was a medical reason for him to be a walking skeleton.
As soon as we get into the vet, and he receives his shots, hw test and a clear bill of health. This sweet little man will be looking for his forever home. Where he never has to be hungry or alone again. He is the sweetest. Tail wags and kisses. After being so neglected. Hes young, I'm guessing less than a year for sure. So if you are looking for a new friend in the near future, send an email and get a pre adoption app put in for him.

As the temperatures drop, have you secured a place for any feral cats you may be feeding? Straw and an old dog house blocking the wind.
See a stray dog? Maybe offer it some food and water and even a place to stay warm
Or like today I was tagged about a puppy on a county road( so no animal control) even tho i didn't have room or time. I went. With the intention of feeding, checking physical status. Because the inn is really full. What i arrived to was a starved puppy. Skin and bones. Missing an eye. So I called to him and in the car he came. So for now, he is safe. Fed. Watered and has a warm bed.

ONE OF THEIR SIBLINGS HAS ALREADY PASSED FROM PARVO! 🆘SOS 🆘

Yesterday, Baby Earl tested positive for parvo and was rushed to the ER under our rescue’s care. Despite every effort to save him, he passed away at 10pm last night & our hearts are shattered.

Now, his three siblings are fighting the same battle. They’re at our vet receiving urgent treatment, but parvo is both deadly and incredibly costly to treat. We’re doing everything we can—but we can’t do it alone.
Please, if you’re able, help us fight for these three little lives.

URGENT: BEHAVIOR barrier reactive to strangers (barks)
- surrendered with Mulan and Licorice after their owner died (not Bastille and Nova as I mentioned in video)
- dog friendly - Dan is her play yard buddy
- wary of strangers but she came on a walk with me easily. Kennel tech leashed her for me in order not to let Dan out since they were out together.
- she would flinch if I reached toward her, even if I did it slowly, until she got comfortable with me. Then she seemed to enjoy head rubs
- she doesn’t seem to know “sit”
- took treats very gently but it took her awhile to even take them from me. After a few minutes of conversation and looking around she decided I was safe.
- such a sweet girlie. After I walked another couple of dogs, I looked up coming around the last curve on the trail because I heard a dog barking and there was Jenny, wagging her tail and barking at me to come give her more snacks.

Last year, we had some amazing donations of meat for the dogs. They have ran out now.
If your cleaning out your freezers, for the upcoming hunting season, the dogs and cats would gladly accept any that you are discarding. Freezer burned is OK. (I cut it off before I cook it)
And bones, big bones, such as deer legs, cow bones (no chicken) they adore those also.
I can pick up if its local to Rio Vista or cleburne.
And of course your more than welcome to drop it off.
