That's how long our Pepper has been with us. There's many ways you can say it, but perhaps it comes down to just three words. Far too long. Pepper is one of our most senior cats for this reason and because she is 11 years old. She was brought in as an owner surrender because she was "unwanted." You don't have to try hard to picture Pepper as a baby. Pepper still "nurses." She suckles and kneads her bed just like she did for her mom's milk. She also loves baby talk and responds to her name. Pepper appreciates a good nap and some tasty treats. She would be so grateful if she could come home with you and "nurse" on the bed. I already asked, and Pepper would love to watch Netflix and eat bon bons with you. She also would like if you could read to her. It's a little bit difficult for her to do herself because she has a lazy eye. As we all do, Pepper has an independent streak. However, she has a great sense of people's energy and bonds with visitors who appreciate her for all that she is. She really remembers those who pay attention to her and shines in the present moment. Her cutesy round face and soft purr brighten the day too. Head petting is her favorite, and it's important to be in tune to her feelings when trying something new with her. A relaxed household where she can retire and watch birds in the window would be ideal. Maybe Pepper can't read a clock or measure a day, but her heart chimes every second that it's time to come home.

A bunch of adoptable dogs from the Santa Barbara County Animal Shelter had a great day with the Cross-Country Team from St. Joseph High School. The team thought it would be fun....
