I have had so many inquiries for future litters and I appreciate so much the interest that has been shown in the short time that Clermont Dobermans has been in existence. As is customary, after Gemma had her first litter, her vet completed a thorough wellness exam and work-up to ensure her optimal state of health prior to any anticipated future breedings. During a recent visit, her vet informed me that he believes that additional pregnancies for Gemma may cause stress on her body. For that reason he has now recommended that she not be bred in the future. Although she was an excellent mama to those puppies, dogs (just like women), can sometimes experience high levels of stress on their bodies during a state of pregnancy. Additionally, Gemma had a late entry into a breeding program due to the pandemic. Gemma will be 4 this November and many breeders retire their females at that age, and certainly by the age of 5. This is also a major factor in her vet’s recommendation. Since Gemma’s well being is (and always has been) of utmost importance, I have opted to follow his advice and remove her from future breedings.
Although I have saved a female from Gemma’s first litter, that puppy will not be ready to be added to the breeding program for at least another two years. For those individuals who have inquired about obtaining puppies in the near future, I feel this announcement is necessary so that you can research other breeders. In two years when that puppy becomes eligible for breeding, I will reevaluate the reinstatement of my breeding program. Currently, I am very sad to be suspending my goals for Clermont Dobermans as I enjoyed breeding and raising this first litter of puppies from Gemma. I certainly never expected it but I also realize I was so fortunate to have had the opportunity to provide 7 families with so much joy when they received some of the most happy, healthy and beautiful doberman puppies you could ever hope for.

Well everyone, my first litter as a new breeder is now successfully in the books. I want to say how thankful I am that this was such a positive experience for me. Call me crazy, but I’m so passionate about these dogs (and specifically the Doberman breed) that I seriously prayed over this whole experience every step of the journey! I’m convinced that God allowed me to have wonderful, healthy puppies and also to find equally wonderful families for all these precious little ones. To all those families, I can’t thank you enough for having confidence in me, and for taking the responsibility of raising a puppy so seriously that you will stop at nothing to provide them a safe and secure home with loads of love. This was so rewarding for me that, God willing, I will continue breeding and providing more happy, healthy puppies for new families to love! A very special thank you to Tania, my breeder/mentor, whose support was so reassuring and drove me to always strive to do my very best for these dogs. THANK YOU EVERYONE! My heart is full!

May 16! 8 weeks today and on the way to the vet for our health certificates. 3 leave me later today 😢. I will miss them but their families are overjoyed with excitement. I NEED to remember that this is why I decided to do this in the first place!

For all my new puppy parents, when you bring your baby home that first night and they howl relentlessly (like they are being tortured) please remember that they are just missing their littermates. They have never spent a day apart from them and your home is a whole new experience that they must get used to. I promise, they WILL adjust. Just please be patient with them. Pic to show just how much comfort they feel being with their brothers and sisters!

This is my sweet “Gretta Grace”! She was the very first puppy born and she will be added to my breeding program in the future. Fingers crossed that she’s as great a mama as her own mama has been! 🤞🏻❤️
