Everyone has heard horror stories about sending horses out for training. These stories or personal experiences can make you never want to trust someone with your horse again. So what do you look for when choosing a horse trainer?

It is easy to get fixated on rewarding the horse for performing the task to our standards and not rewarding them for trying. When teaching it is more important to reward the try. The more you reward the try, the more effort they’ll put into what you ask, resulting in a more willing partner.

We had a gentleman ask about getting a horse to spin correctly. He had a horse that would kick his hips out and not spin on his pivot foot. This video demonstrates how to prevent this from happening and how to correct it, as well as showing the fundamental parts needed to perform a spin correctly.

Chris and Hailey demonstrate how to work on getting correctness in the spin and turnaround.

Sold: Lena is a 15-year-old registered pinto mare. She is 14.3 hands tall and is very thick. For the last 4 years she has been used as a trail horse. She just had 2 months of professional training going back and working on arena work, softness, responsiveness, walk/trot/cantering 5 days a week, and obstacles. She has a nice trot and a smooth slow canter. She steps up to a mounting block and stands quiet to get on and off of. Rides out quiet by herself and with other horses. She is lazy but sensitive, soft, and responsive. She yields her hips, side passes, and backs up softly. Remaining info is in the video. If interested please call Chris. His number is 401-219-0957. Please no texts. Located in Clermont, Fl.

Willow was just started under saddle 7 weeks ago. She was extremely easy to start and is very smart with high trainability. She has an excellent mind and good confirmation. She would excel in many different disciplines. She is very soft in the face and naturally wants to get off of pressure. She stands quiet to get on and off of from the ground or a mounting block. She is laterally and vertically soft and will back up with face. She will walk, trot, and canter on a loose rein without building speed or breaking gate. She is already started on hip control, shoulder control, leg yielding, and side passing. She is quiet and lazy but it doesn’t take much energy to get her forward and stepping out big. She is the best of both worlds! Willow has a lot of try in her and puts effort into everything you ask. She is easy to get along with on the ground and under saddle with ABSOLUTELY NO disrespectful or dangerous behaviors. REMAINING INFO IS IN THE VIDEO. For more information, please call Chris at 401-219-0957. Please no texts.
