UPDATE: Furrever home found 😁

I have two boys, estimated 6 months to 1 year old. They’ve been with me since March but my boys (4) will not accept them. Both very sweet (especially the lighter one). The darker one is slightly stand offish but does warm up with frequent handling. Never a single bite from either of them. Located near Cleveland. PM for details

Our Ren Goku crossed the rainbow bridge today. He hung in there longer than I expected he would but he was able to go on his own with his cage mates and is now resting in peace with our other babies that have crossed over in our growing pet cemetery. Rest easy little one. You’re already missed.

Our Ren Goku appeared to have suffered a stroke on April 29th. My hope was cynical after having lost two rats in a months span around the same age. However he has improved significantly! On April 29th I noted signifanct leaning on right side, when set down almost falls to the right. Not walking straight line. Excessive porphyrin. Weight 491 grams down from 656 grams a month earlier. Then on the first he was still eating and drinking, always cuddled with his BFF Ollie at a whopping 574 grams! Today he’s back up to 579 grams eating and drinking well, still snuggled with Ollie on the regular and unable to climb the cage (tho he doesn’t try and stays on the bottom level). But his leaning is getting better and he’s not falling over anymore. I am still monitoring closely but faithful that he may recover from this stroke after-all! A little love and care goes a long way (and a companion to help him not feel alone of course).

Ugh… I think my old man, Remi, is on his way out. He’s been dropping weight quite quickly and just isn’t acting himself. This is why it wasn’t wise to get rats back to back the way we did. Our hearts are still broken from losing Dumbo and Mouseketeer not even a month ago. I keep hoping he’s going to bounce back but I know for a male rat bred to be a feeder, almost 2 years is a blessing.
