Anyone who is able to help in the animal relief area here are some links. Every $ adds up. The animals thank you! 🐾🐾❤️🩹
Ok y'all. While we work out the logistics of a local food relief drive for our neighbors up the way, we wanted to share what we've learned today.
Right now most of the hardest hit counties are asking that folks coordinate and send in donations as part of an organized effort, and we think that is a great idea.
This is the start of a list of pet and livestock donation sites and organizations and folks and ideas. Please feel free to comment with any areas of need or coordinated efforts to provide relief for our East Tennessee animals and their families who have been impacted by Hurricane Helene.
So far here is what we have for the biggest resources and connections:
UTCVM-University of Tennessee College of Veterinary Medicine is serving as the lead for animal-related supplies and that includes pets as well as livestock. Square bales. Think square bales. https://tinyurl.com/2apsysdk
Unicoi County Animal Shelter saved all their animals but lost everything else. Everything. They have started a gofundme to help with the rebuilding process. https://tinyurl.com/3csn5pfj
Appalachian Highlands Humane Society out of Johnson City is currently organizing volunteers and donations to assist with pet food and supply distribution to residents of surrounding counties. Check them on out FB or donate directly on their website: https://www.ahhumanesociety.org/
The Animal Shelter of Sullivan County is helping Unicoi Animal Shelter with supplies as soon as they are ready! They are taking donations at the shelter as well as online. https://animalshelter-sullivancounty.org/
