Our second litter of the year, this is part of our next step with our Blues. I've been waiting so patiently to start mixing in genetics such as Velveteen and Silvermane. These are all black due to the father not being heterozygous for the Blue mutation nor the mother being het for Russian Blue. We did prove Mom carried Dumbo though as well which we also have slowly been working towards in our Blues (they were originally all top eared).

Hi everyone, it's been awhile! Firstly, our buck Old Rat Logan wanted to say hi! He is a Dbl Velv Silvermane RB het/pos homozygous Harley and is our oldest rat at around 3 years old.

We're returning from our winter breeding moretorium a little late this year, but we're excited for the year ahead and have a lot of cool stuff planned. Firstly, we are excited to announce we will be vending the Ohio Reptile and More Expo in June at be the state fairgrounds. This will be a two day show, were we will have two tables full of rodent supplies and enrichment, educational materials and will have a few litters available to be reserved beforehand for pickup at the expo. More announcements will be coming in the following days.

We've waited to share this, to ensure the kitten is doing well. Joyce, who we thought reabsorbed and started lactation, apparently started lactation prematurely. Earlier this week she gave birth to two kittens to our surprise and joy. It seems she didn't reabsorb all the kittens, and we were blessed with one last healthy baby from our sweet Joyce.

Last litter is a bunch of Blues to continue the TARDIS line from one of our suspected Silver Blues and to test those genetics. Next step is testing the RB in her. We have her sister also undergoing the other side of the test.

Here's litter number 5 of the bunch. Back to the basics with some black and martens. Was expecting some RB babies as well, but I guess Dad doesn't carry RB it seems and as well carries c-locus (likely Marten) which was a bit unexpected. But that's great, as it means we are closer to making Am Blue BE Marten then we realized.

Another interesting group, I didn't think Joyce birthed any of these little ones but she is nursing them so it's possible they had birthed around the same time and they just became one litter. Or she reabsorbed and then started lactation regardless. It'll be easier to tell as they grow. Either way she's still a great mom and will be enjoying retirement after her and her niece Jo Grat ween the litter[s].

Litters number 2 and 3 (possibly also 4). This is one of my first time really doing multiple nursing moms in one enclosure, and this group has been interesting. I think two litters were born and then another a few days later, but I'm not positive on that. I do think we may have had some losses in the first two, or maybe even the entire first litter? This is really confusing, and I don't think I'll be doing it again. Many beautiful babies though. I'll have to go over the birthing records to see how things line up. Here's the two obviously separate litters, and the three mothers which all seem to be nursing.

I know things have been quite this past month or so, I've had so much going on I just couldn't keep up with Social Media. But that doesn't mean things aren't moving forward. John Peratwee is officially a dad today! Congrats Buddy! Kitten pictures will come later once l is done and resting.

Please all ways remember to watch your elbows when cleaning aquariums, this could have ended up way worse for me. Luckily only some very minor scratches/pokes. Also a good reason to always remove animals before cleaning, since no mice were present under the shower of glass they were safe from the incident.

Someone just donated this last month too, that's super unfortunate. I think I can still salvage it but it'll be a good amount of effort.

Took these the other week, they are a bit bigger now and weaning.

This afternoon, we put to rest our eldest girl Ratasha Romonav. Her sister passed on a few months ago and had waited long enough. I found one of her Tumors had burst. She was very loving and active until her last, and even with a bigger pair than the boys she never struggled to climb or get around. I hope her and her sister are together again, still playing and loving on another. I'm going to miss you so much.

These two girls were not breeders, but the last two rats I adopted as pets before deciding to start breeding. They really meant so much to me. Having to personally put to rest my pets was one of the most difficult things I've ever had to do.

One of the hardest parts about being a breeder, is that these choices must not only be made, but accomplished usually by oneself. My heart has hurt tremendously over the past few years. But it has also been filled to the brim with love. I am still doing my best to move forward and work hard to help improve the pet rat fancy and my lines, but please do forgive me if there are days when I simply just can't bring myself to respond or post. Sometimes my heart is just too heavy...

Tigers Eye and Smokey Quartz litters are quite adorable. We have eight adorable beans, and I do think we managed to get a Blue Tri/Splash. Some other really cool looking patterns in there and we even randomly got a satin splash baby which wasn't expected.

So much has been going on recently, I forgot to announce that Tigers Eye and Smokey Quartz had their litters from Clay, and they are quite adorable. Here's a sneak peek at one of the cuties. I'm still pretty new to Splash and Tricolor so IDs might be difficult. Just hoping for some blue, might see one in the litters not sure though.

Today when going through my email I discovered this from a previous adopter, and wanted to express just how much this means to me. Thank you for the update, even outside record keeping I always love to hear about and see how my previous babies are doing! Please, I highly encourage ALL my adopters to do so and would be very grateful

Let me express my sadness and concern over Rowdy's mammary tumor. Luckily these are normally mild and of little health concern to the animal in most cases, as I hope it is in this one. Even more, they are usually easily removed however can tend to reoccur. Rats can live long healthy lives still even without initial surgery, though monitoring for health and quality of life is vital. You should always consult your vet for the best treatment of your special individual, and often I recommend multiple vets unless you are confident in the vets skills with rats specifically, as even some of the best vets around have little or even no working knowledge on rat care and treatment which tends to be unique among even other rodents.

Sandstone and Limestone where two of my first mice, and I was not totally aware of there age when I adopted them. They never went on to have any babies unfortunately, and I realize now they must have been 4+ mo at the time most likely. They have been cherished pets since then, sparking a love for mice even though they never got to produce offspring of their own. It's been over a year since I got these two sweet girls, and age was starting to catch up with Lime. Sand seemed healthy and happy still, but age catches up with us all in different ways.

Today I woke to find Sand had unexpectedly passed in her sleep and her sister Limestone was lying next to her beginning to let go herself. She passed on shortly after.

It's with a heavy heart we say goodbye today to two of the sweetest little creatures I ever got to know. Rest well my darlings.
