Minnie is just the sweetest little 5-month old smooth-collie mix you will ever meet! What she lacks in stature, she sure makes up for in heart! Minnie is good with kids, other dogs (big and small!) and cats. While she has a lot of puppy energy, she is the most gentle and kind soul you will ever meet! She is extremely intelligent, already mastering basic obedience and manners and is working hard towards being fully housebroken! And just look at those ears - how could you not fall in love! She would make a wonderful edition to any family.

Minnie will be available after 6/16/24 when she recovers from her spay, but you can submit an application now to make Minnie a part of your family 🩷🐶 visit https://www.neocr.org/adoption-process to submit an application!

NorthEast Ohio Collie Rescue's Adoption Coordinator Roseann Cyngier and adopted collie, Storm, are on the left, others are identified in the story.

DUKE: watch his video https://youtu.be/vxXQjCj1-g8 Please share.

Duke, a charismatic 3-year-old male sable rough-coat collie, is not only up to date on vaccinations but also neutered and in excellent health. He is currently in the care of NorthEast Ohio Collie Rescue, looking for his forever home. His vibrant personality shines when he's outdoors, relishing the fresh air and open spaces.

However, Duke is sensitive to loud noises such as trucks, buses, and construction equipment, which can trigger reactive behavior. Consequently, he would thrive in a setting with a fenced yard or on a farm, where he can feel secure and closely connected to his people, enjoying the comfort of indoor sleeping arrangements. Duke's potential adopters would have the rewarding opportunity to assist him in overcoming his fear of loud noises through patient guidance and positive reinforcement.

Despite his sensitivity, Duke already possesses a repertoire of commands, showcasing his intelligence and eagerness to please. With his endearing charm and willingness to learn, Duke is poised to become a beloved companion to a caring family willing to embrace his unique needs.

Adoption application is at https://www.neocr.org/adoption-process
Inquiries can be made to [email protected]

KYLO: Found myself around the corner from Kylo this week so, of course, I stopped in to visit. Kylo lives the good life as Nick and Arlayna work from home. He can race around the backyard, take walks, play ball, and sit and give paw to left and right hands. Missing several digits on his paws does interrupt his running, but he's not phased. Kylo is in such a loving home now.

Cocoa Mulch, which is sold by Home Depot, other Garden supply stores, and possibly your landscaper, contains a lethal ingredient called "Theobromine".

It is lethal to dogs and cats. It smells like chocolate and it really attracts dogs. They will ingest this stuff and die. Several deaths already occurred in the last 2-3 weeks. Just a word of caution — check what you are using in your gardens and be aware of what your gardeners are using in your gardens.

Theobromine is the ingredient that is used to make all chocolate — especially dark or baker's chocolate — which is toxic to dogs.

Cocoa bean shells contain potentially toxic quantities of theobromine, a xanthine compound similar in effects to caffeine and theophylline. A dog that ingested a lethal quantity of garden mulch made from cacao bean shells developed severe convulsions and died 17 hours later. Analysis of the stomach contents and the ingested cacao bean shells revealed the presence of lethal amounts of theobromine.

Please share to your dog friends.

Today I was in the area where Chance lives now so I stopped in for a visit. Pete and I fostered this brilliant collie in 2020. Tina adopted him on New Year's Eve of that year, ready to start a new year with a new friend. From a shy dog, Chance is now so friendly and met me at the door with a wagging tail. He loves walks with Tina, playing ball and Frisbee, and playing with Squeaky Duck and other toys. He lives the good life now

He is available for adoption through NorthEast Ohio Collie Rescue. The sweetest, most loving, happy, gentle good boy. Weller loves life. Even though Weller loves to play with other dogs, he’d rather not share his food or toys with them. He loves food, kids, hugs, toys, smiling, snuggling, playtime and is a basketball enthusiast.

His favorite hobby is playing ball with kids (his skills on defense can’t be rivaled). Tired of playing? He’ll sit right next to you on the couch and watch the game on TV (his favorite thing to watch) waiting to clean up any snacks you may drop (who needs a broom?!) Mostly, he just loves being in your company. Weller needs a place to run and play and romp about. His ideal home would have a large fenced backyard or a farm, ideally with children but not necessarily another dog. He is mostly housebroken, and his foster family is training him and teaching him manners. He does know how to sit and stay, what a good boy!

He is neutered and up to date on all shots & vaccines. Have questions about Weller Clyde? Direct inquiries to [email protected]

UPDATE: Giddy and Sheba are not being surrendered to the rescue. Please go to https://www.neocr.org/adoptable-dogs to see other dogs available from NorthEast Ohio Collie Rescue.
===========================================

LOOKING FOR FOREVER HOME. GIDDY (blue merle 7 year old male) and SHEBA (tri-color 9 year old female) are looking for their forever home.

Together they're like some old married couples, although sometimes they bicker, they often show affection for each other.

Energy levels: they are walked once a day for a 1-2 mile walk. They generally play once a
day with a stuffed animal or play tug-of-war with a rope. Giddy sometimes runs and jumps for about 5-10 minutes. They sleep/rest the remaining time.

Health: Giddy has spondylosis in the hip region and various allergies. Sheba has arthritis in the wrists, reduced eyesight and allergies. Both are on meds for these.

Reactivity: Both have reactivity to strangers. Giddy barks at people, dogs, squirrels and deer. Fast-moving people - joggers, scooters, bike riders - cause him to bark and want to lunge. Sheba barks at people and dogs. Like Giddy, she becomes agitated by fast-movers. Ask us for more details. Both can be counter surfers if food is left within reach.

Positives: Giddy is playful, strong, affectionate and timid when encountering the new. Sheba is strong and adventuresome, curious and affectionate.

Both dogs will usually approach labs and collies while on walks and make friends although with some barking. Other dogs, usually not.

Both dogs have no recent experience with cats so we do not know how they react. A meet and greet would obviously be done. Each dog has reacted negatively to neighbor children, though in the same household is an unknown.

An ideal home would be with a large fenced yard (privacy?) or a farm where there are not a lot of fast-moving people as described above. Although we really prefer to keep them together, they could be separated.

These two would prefer to be kept together so we are making the adoption fee BOGO, only $425 for both. Medications would be paid by the Cosmo Fund for Senior Dogs which is money set aside for older dogs by NorthEast Ohio Collie Rescue. Please fill out an application at https://www.neocr.org/adoption-process

Meet Ben!

Ben is a 10 month old, 46 lb Collie. He is gorgeous in person and is the absolute sweetest boy there is. He loves being close, snuggling and getting pets from his person. Loves other dogs, kids and gets along with cats, chickens and goats! Ben is a little timid when first meeting you, but once you gain his trust he quickly becomes your best friend! Ben loves to play fetch with his ball, loves his squeaky toys and likes to walk/run beside you. He needs to learn how to properly walk on a leash without pulling but he does well for a beginner! As much as he loves to be active, he doesn’t mind sleeping under your office desk and keeping your feet warm! Ben is still just a puppy needing a forever family or person to grow with and bring him out of his shell completely! I have no doubts he would make the perfect companion or be a little kid’s best friend!

If you think Ben is the perfect dog you have been waiting for go to https://www.neocr.org/adoption-process and fill out an adoption application!!

Meet Weller Clyde

Weller Clyde is a one-year old, 43 lb border collie mix with a 984 lb heart. The sweetest, most loving, happy, gentle (Dinosaur tail excluded) good boy. Weller loves other living beings: humans including children, cows, friends, all the things. However, he gets confused with other dogs, sharing toys, food, etc. so he is seeking to be the only dog. He loves food, kids, hugs, toys, smiling, snuggling, playtime and is a basketball enthusiast. His favorite hobby is playing ball with kiddos (his skills on defense can’t be rivaled). Tired of playing? He’ll sit right next to you on the couch and watch the game on TV (his favorite thing to watch) waiting to clean up any snacks you may drop (who needs a broom?!). Mostly, he just loves being in your company. Weller needs a place to run and play and romp about. His ideal home would have a large fenced in back yard or a farm, ideally with children or a best buddy to play with. He is not fully housebroken but is making progress. He does know how to sit and stay, what a good boy! Lastly, Weller did have some very mild, infrequent seizures. He has been seen by the vet and no medication is needed at this time. He is up to date on all shots & vaccines. If you think Weller is the perfect dog you are searching for, click the yellow button below and fill out an adoption application at https://www.neocr.org/adoption-process
