It’s back to school season for the kids and the dogs 📚

Pack Walks will be at Loew Park beginning at 9 AM on September 7th, 14th, and 28th. In the event of inclement weather please check your email for a potential change in location. Pack walks are $10 and open to anyone, not just clients. Sign ups can be found on our website.

Structured Daycare is $50 a day with drop off between 7-9 AM and pick up any time before 6:30 PM. Sign ups can be found at the link in our bio or on the website. If you’re interested in daycare but have not completed training with us, please email [email protected] to schedule an assessment.

The month’s pack hike will kick off at 9 AM on Saturday, September 20th at Richfield Heritage Preserve. This is an ON LEASH event. Please wear appropriate footwear. Check out the link in our bio to sign up, find the location, and get more details. If you have questions please email [email protected]

We have ONE space remaining for our puppy development class! Class begins Tuesday, September 9th at 6:30 PM and will run for six weeks. The cost is $375. This is a great way to start your puppy with age appropriate training and receive support throughout the entire process. Sign ups can be found on our website. Lastly, we will be offering another tricks class starting on Wednesday, October 8th at 7 PM. The class will run for four weeks with the optional to title in November. The cost of the class is $150. Trick training is an excellent way to keep your dog’s mind engaged as the winter months approach. If you have questions, please email [email protected].

Meet Maple, a 3 year old Lab mix who is our August client spotlight!

Maple recently wrapped up a five session package with trainer Jess to teach basics, build engagement, properly introduce the crate, and address some leash pulling. Emma, Maple’s mom, said her favorite thing about Maple is that she is a sweet, loving, happy dog who is down to cuddle or head out on her next great adventure.

Emma’s mom said the most valuable thing they learned in training “...was the importance of connection and communication between us and Maple. When Maple is able to shift her focus from all of the distractions around her back to us, she’s a much calmer, thoughtful dog. Strengthening our bond and communication has really decreased her wildlife reactivity to the squirrels, birds, and other critters that we see on our walks.” Maple and her family continue to work on her leash manners and neutrality in public. As cute as she is, not everyone wants to be greeted by Maple with a kiss on the face as the enter the elevator.

“We are just so thankful for Jess and how much she taught us. We can’t wait to come on a pack walk!”

We had a unique group of dogs participate in our board and train programs in April.

Pazu and Prompto are two year old Corgi siblings that were starting to exhibit signs of littermate syndrome. Prompto acted more as the aggressor of the pair, while Pazu seemed to hide out in Prompto’s shadow. We have to give their parents a ton of credit because it’s not easy learning one training program, let alone two at the same time.

George is another interesting board and train, as we split his four week board and train into two parts. George came in April at 5 months old to begin his puppy basics and confidence building. Once George was a little more mature, he returned to us around 10 months to layer the ecollar over his existing knowledge and work towards off leash freedom. George’s parents did their research and made sure to set him up with constant support and success throughout his
adolescence.

Happy Monday for our July Client Spotlight, Scout!

Scout is a 7.5 month old ACD, Pyrenees, Sheepdog mix who lives in Cleveland with his parents, Tori and Gaby. His parents said their favorite thing about Scout is his balance of sweet cuddly teddy bear, to absolute maniac. He keeps them on our toes, makes them laugh, and always ends the day with snuggles.

Gaby and Tori originally reached out for training to address Scout’s manners and energy level with his senior sister Nora including appropriate play, limit and manage resource guarding between both dogs, continue good leash walking skills and communication, and overall just have a better relationship with Scout so he can grow into a great adult dog.

Gaby said the most important thing she has learned through the training process is to be confident. “It’s so important to build confidence within your dog, especially a high energy pup like Scout, but it’s also important to build confidence as a handler. When we first started working with Jess we were anxious and walking on eggshells, worried about every kernel of food dropped or toy left out turning into a huge resource issue. She taught us how to relax and how to be in control, and our confidence has translated to both Scout and Nora. We also learned to understand and set realistic expectations for Scout. It’s okay if some days aren’t as productive with training - it’s a marathon and more important to build good habits over time.”

“Turning Point really was a turning point for us - we were panicky, distraught, and discouraged when we first started and Jess’ guidance has been invaluable. We want to continue working with Scout and Nora and want to keep TPDT in our lives as Scout becomes an adult and we explore the world with him. Thank you thank you thank you!”

Meet our April Client Spotlight, Pepper 🌶️

Pepper is a 4 year old German Shepherd who lives in Cleveland with her dads, Peter and Vince. She is a Pisces and recently celebrated her fourth birthday in her new house! Pepper came to us in summer 2024 to address some separation anxiety, resource guarding, and overall confidence building. After months of putting in the work, Pepper has become a sweet, sociable, good girl who loves to spend her mornings cuddling on the couch. Peter and Vince said their favorite thing about Pepper is how expressive she can be, along with how loyal she is to them.

Before Pepper was adopted she was used in a puppy mill, meaning she lacked any proper
socialization. This led to Pepper being timid, anxious, and mistrusting of most people. In fact,
Pepper took a good deal of time to acclimate to Peter and learn that she could also trust him. By
working on Pepper’s confidence and building Peter and Vince’s confidence as handlers, Pepper has grown into a super sweet and loving dog who now greets strangers with a tail wag and is ready to receive pets.

Peter and Vince continue to work on place to help with any anxiety, door drills, and recall.
Pepper is a smart girl and also just learned paw! The most valuable thing they learned during
training is how far consistency can take you. Pepper just celebrated a year with Peter and Vince and she is a completely different dog in the best way.

confidence in ourselves which allowed Pepper to be the confident dog we knew she could be - and now is!”

Introducing our brand new puppy development class! Join us as we teach everything puppy. From basic obedience to nutrition tips and socialization, this comprehensive puppy course will help set your pup up for success.
