UPDATE: twitch had her remaining teeth removed by Dr Casey on Friday. She found a large abscess that was drained and cleaned out at the same time. Twitch tolerated the surgeries well and woke up being very affectionate. She’s being kept separate from the other kitties for a few days to recuperate. She’s eating soft food and twice a day liquid antibiotic in her food. Thanks to everyone for helping Twitch get her dental surgery completed. 🐈

Twitch will be dropped off at New
Hope Pet Vet this evening by an Ark volunteer for early morning full mouth extractions by Dr Casey. She should be able to return to the Ark late evening tomorrow. 🐕WELCOME TO THE FAMILY!🐈

Melissa Geren and husband saw a video in the Ark Habitat which had Ezra, a large British Blue cat, featured. They messaged for more information then set up an appointment. Since they work weekdays, I met them on Saturday afternoon, off hours. Both Ezra and Lilith met them at the door and took up residence on their laps. After spending an hour with the cat group, both Ezra and Lilith made the trip back to Athens TN with their new humans. Congratulations to both cats and thanks for adopting not shopping for a pet.

🐈WANT TO BE A FOSTER PARENT?🐕

The Ark was incorporated as a 501 (c) 3 charitable organization in 1998 as a rescue group, utilizing foster homes for the pets. I joined in 2000 as a foster home for cats and eventually dogs. We morphed into a centrally based home for the pets, which the pets now own.

Much has changed since then, for the betterment of the pets. Standard veterinary requirements, Ark specific Veterinary offices, and guidelines for bringing foster pets to adoption events, including minimum attendance at events.

After having our pet’s in a home-like facility for 18 years, we are exploring the option to move some Ark pets back to foster homes. The first pets will begin transitioning next week to current Ark volunteers.

We will add a couple of trusted and experienced pet caregivers to that initial pool. Information and education will be provided as to what’s expected, including loving each pet as a temporary family member. 🐈🐶

Update 8/1/24: Thanks everyone that donated and shared Twitch’s dental estimate at New Hope Pet Vet. It seems to have stalled at $295 of $471 needed. We’ve scheduled her full mouth extraction with Dr Casey for next Friday 8/9/24. During this next few days any amount still needed toward the estimated $180 shortfall is very appreciated. Thanks for all you’re doing for this precious girl!

Update: This morning, thanks to generous donations, Twitch has $295 in her cash app balance! This brings the total now needed for her dental procedures to less than $200! Thanks for your love and generosity toward Twitch!

Twitch received $30 toward her much needed dental work. It is very painful for her to eat. Additionally, due to the poor condition of her teeth, her gums are chronically infected.
