Introducing Ella, a 4 year old Doberman Pinscher, we placed into a foster home last month then found out during a routine medical exam that she is heartworm positive. The approximate cost to treat heartworms in one dog, including hospitalization, medications, x-rays, blood work and vet office visits most often exceeds $1000…for just one dog.
Now we have a bone to pick with you this holiday season! When you pick a bone from our Secondhand Mutts giving tree located in the lobby of The Mutt Hutt and make a donation, you will be supporting treatment for Ella whose treatment is sponsored through The Extra Mile program.
With the support of our amazing donors, we are able to help heartworm positive dogs like Ella. We are grateful to our medical team at HeartLand Mobile Veterinary Servicee and Greystone Veterinary Hospital + Urgent Care for providing compassionate service for all of our dogs.
Lobby hours are Tuesday through Friday from 9 am to 6:45 pm located at 2603 Scranton Road in Cleveland, Ohio open until Dec 22nd. Can’t make it in person or would prefer to donate directly? Click on the link below, which will take you to our online donation page.
At Secondhand Mutts, we welcome dogs with everything from basic house training issues to mange cases, from heartworm positive dogs like Ella to those sick and quarantined with pneumonia, dogs with broken legs and occasionally those who need focused and more intense behavior modification. We can go The Extra Mile for these dogs because of your generous donations.
Thank you for supporting Secondhand Mutts and Ella and for going The Extra Mile this holiday season.
