We are so happy to provide the update DeeDee moved back into a home with her foster caretakers. She has a follow up appointment with Dr Liz at HeartLand Mobile Veterinary Service next week. Her ears and eyes have returned to tgeir former healthy status after a long and scary time fighting for her life.

CUYAHOGA FALLS AREA….We need your help!

One of our adoptable dogs (not listed online) who has been recovering from her spaay surgery in a foster provider home was admitted to the ER this morning with a rare but treatable condition.

We are seeking a volunteer to pick up pre-paid medicine TONIGHT in Cuyahoga Falls before 9 pm and transport it to Metropolitan Animal Emergency Clinic in Highland Heights.

Introducing Ella, a 4 year old Doberman Pinscher, we placed into a foster home last month then found out during a routine medical exam that she is heartworm positive. The approximate cost to treat heartworms in one dog, including hospitalization, medications, x-rays, blood work and vet office visits most often exceeds $1000…for just one dog.

Now we have a bone to pick with you this holiday season! When you pick a bone from our Secondhand Mutts giving tree located in the lobby of The Mutt Hutt and make a donation, you will be supporting treatment for Ella whose treatment is sponsored through The Extra Mile program.

With the support of our amazing donors, we are able to help heartworm positive dogs like Ella. We are grateful to our medical team at HeartLand Mobile Veterinary Servicee and Greystone Veterinary Hospital + Urgent Care for providing compassionate service for all of our dogs.

11/9 UPDATE: ADOPTION PENDING!

Meet Carbon!

Carbon is a wonderful lab mix puppy. He is about 4.5 months old, 12 pounds, and we expect he will be a little under 40lbs full grown.

He loves to play with the other dogs in his foster home, but he would be a fit for just about anyone. His easy going temperament and food motivation have made training a breeze. He is currently working on house training and crate training with his foster parents.

We expect Carbon would do well with cats and children, but he has not been exposed to them in his foster home.

We sincerely hope 2022 has been a wonderful year for all of our supporters, friends, adopters and volunteers. Over the last few months our focus has been on finding a match for Pandora who arrived in the summer. We are delighted to announce after a month long trial she has officially become a part of the the Jani family.

CALLING ALL DOG LOVERS! Pandora has been in our care since June 2022 arriving from our local veterinary clinic after her original owners surrendered her. Pandora, a two year old Husky mix, responds to "Dora". Like most husky's she is energetic and outgoing. She is also docile at times and very affectionate. She was not spayed at the time but has since been spayed. Dora is up to date on vaccines and microchipped.

Due to our lack of foster provider homes and some other unforseen difficulties we have moved Pandora into a boarding facility in Medina county. While she is extremely happy to have structure, company of other dogs and humans ultimately she would like (and we would too) a home of her own. Due to our observations we are hoping to place Dora in a home without children, cats, small animals (rabbits, chickens, etc) and if the home already has a dog we believe she would be best matched with a male energy.

Due to circumstances beyond our control we are actively seeking a foster provider home for Pandora while we continue to accept applications for her adoption. While she is good with other dogs, our hope is to find a home where she can decompress and be a solo dog for awhile, get plenty of exercise and eventually transition into a forever home. Please no cats or toddlers as she is very active and still learning boundaries while she is house-less. Please email us at [email protected] if you are interested in fostering or adopting Pandora.

Rosie is still looking for her forever home!

Rosie is as sweet as they come! She loves to be with her people, and she loves to cuddle. She's good with everyone and all the dogs she meets. Another plus is that she never barks! She would be happiest in a home where she is not left alone for extended periods of time and a home with a fenced yard. She loves being outside!

Rosie is not housebroken. Her foster parents are following the advice of a trainer and are working with her to establish a routine. They have seen some improvement with her peeing in the house, but Rosie is still struggling with p**p accidents. It is possible that given her age, she may never be fully house trained.

Rosie is a senior gal and does have arthritis in her hips. Because of this, she cannot do stairs at all (up or down) on her own. She is currently taking medication to manage her pain and she will need to remain on this medication for the remainder of her life to keep her comfortable.

8/4/22 UPDATE: Applications under review. No longer accepting new adoption applications.

Ouzo is a big (230lb), happy go lucky sweetheart! Ouzo gets along well with other dogs. He enjoys taking walks, playing fetch, being outside and napping.

Though we have not yet introduced him to cats or kids, based on his personality, we do not anticipate he would mind sharing a home with either.

Ouzo is house trained, up to date on vaccinations and neutered.

Luca is a 1.5 year old German Shepherd mix looking to find his forever home!

Luca gets along great with other dogs and is learning basic commands with the help of his foster parents. He is fully crate trained and house trained. Luca enjoys burning off his energy by going for walks and romping around outside.
