See you in the morning! ☕️

It’s that kind of day! 💤 A couple of notes for today:
We are already FULLY BOOKED for today. No room for walk-ins!
The cafe side will be briefly CLOSED for a private event from 11-11:30am. A staff member will be standing outside to take sidewalk orders, and we can still take orders inside the cat lounge too.
We’ll keep everyone updated regarding our schedule next week. We usually remain open if people book (since we have to feed cats anyways), but if most people cancel we’ll likely close.
Stay warm and have a great day!

Now that Bubba and Wisteria are adopted, the cat that's been here the longest is Riley.
All you need to know is that her head and tail are way too small for her body, and she looks like an amalgamation of mismatched parts, but like in a cute way? Does that make sense?
Unlike our website, where each part which was painstakingly crafted to provide as much detail for visiting the cafe as possible (I wanted to put a staff page to finally make use of some professional head shots I had done, but Mandy said no 😔). So, if you are unsure about how to visit, check it out!

Looking for some energy? Try Powerline!
This goofy dude will entertain you with his zoomy vibe. He might be too much for other cats, but he'd likely do well where he's the center of attention.

We are low on cats, so we're letting in a reduced amount of people for the next few days. (Cats are always low this time of year, hence our vacation)
But the cats we do have are amazing, so check them out!

Another long term tennant has gone to her furrever home! That's right, our 12 year old lady Wisteria has finally found her family!
That's two older cats that have been with us for more than six months that have gone home! We're both incredibly happy and sad that we'll no longer have these familiar faces to greet us every morning.
Wisteria ran the show in the lounge and was the spoiled lady that all the staff doted on. And we'll always remember how she constantly tried to con visitors into giving her more food.

Bubba has gone to his furrever home!!!
If you have visited the shop since July, we've probably warned you about our sweet n spicy boy named Bubba. He was one of my favorite cats to ever grace the lounge, and over the 6ish months he spent with us, I truly looked forward to seeing him every day. I wish his new family all the best, and we're absolutely pulling for you!
Excuse me while I go and chop an industrial amount of onions. 😢

We love you guys, thanks for six years! Cheers to another good one full of adoptions, cat shenanigans, and conversations over the espresso machine.
When I was in high school, I read the play Our Town—the protagonist receives the curse of reliving their life from childhood, but with the perspective and knowledge that they had gained from their experiences. The protagonist goes mad as time passes too quickly, leaving them fixated on how many small moments go unappreciated. I hated it as a 15 year old, thinking she wasted her chance at a second life and a chance to see her loved ones.
But as a geriatric 35 year old (according to my staff) it gives perspective on all the moments of kindness, comfort, and understanding that were sandwiched between the struggles and miscommunications.
Though we're thrilled to have made it another milestone, our real happiness has always been in the "mundane" joys, like coaxing a shy cat to finally be pet, or seeing our favorite regulars walk in.
I am so happy that we have been able to share these moments of respite with the city that we love. Hopefully in the years to come we can continue to provide a reprieve from the chaos of life.
In return, we hope that our silly little cat cafe will give you the energy and inspiration to find a happier you and build a better world. 😸

And that’s a wrap for 2024! Everyone seemed to be feeling the holiday spirit this year, we’ve loved hosting you and your families! We also finished out the year with….drumroll…219 ADOPTIONS!!
We’re kicking off the year with a short vacation, and plan to return on Wed 01/08. In the meantime, please visit (and tell all of your friends to adopt) our friends over ! Most of our cats got adopted out, but there’s still time for these cuties to find a home for the Mew Year too!
Leyton- A darling, deaf nap enthusiast who is still surprisingly spry when chasing a feather toy!
Riley- secretly a chess piece. This Queen loves to inspect everyone from atop “Squares on the Ground”, whether they’re cardboard scratchers, a piece of paper, or a towel.
Bubba- Bribe him with food and churu, and he’ll become your loyal sidekick and lap cat! Seriously though, if you’re patient, he’s more loyal than any dog I’ve ever met!
Croc- A cool dude who is often overlooked because he’s so chill. He can do it all though, from tunnel playtime to relaxing on the couch for a movie!
Yuzu- Large and in charge! This princess demands a comfy spot and your money. Yes really, she likes quarters and dollar bills. But while she may have a tough girl act, she’s secretly a softy who’s easily bullied by other cats and would like a home to call her own.
Niko- Grandpa vibes. He’ll find the fluffiest cushion for a nap, and loves to vibe with quiet people. But when things (and young cats) get too rowdy, he’ll definitely tell them to “get off his lawn”!
Hen House - likes cozy blankets and snuggling with other quiet cats. Does your cat need a bestie? She’s your girl!
Apples to Apples - not a people person, but we still think he’s super cool! This guy would likely thrive as a “working cat” tracking down mice! We think he’ll open up more with time.
Skinny Jeans - you know us millenials can’t resist a good skinny jean, and she’s the best! Skinny Jeans is fittingly a laundry basket enthusiast, who needs a patient person to help her feel safe.
While we already miss them a ton, we hope that today was our final goodbyes to them as they hopefully find their families before we return to the cafe!

2. We are fully booked for today. No room for walk-ins, rescheduling, or “bumping back” late appointments! Make sure you come on time and allow time for street parking and brunch traffic!

Procrastinators, rejoice! It's time to wrap your gifts with a little fuzzy helper!
That's right, Monday December 23rd, we are hosting our annual fan favorite "wrapping with the cats." Spots are limited, so book online now! I would not recommend bringing anything too nice. You know how cats are and how they love to cause havoc, but that's the fun part.
This means that I will be opening the cafe from 5-7pm for last-minute shoppers and Monday night coffee drinkers too. See you then. 😸

Our friends need your help! Former affoGATO alumni Warrick is back at the shelter after being found outside, and the shelter has lots of cats that are too cool for us lame humans. 😎 Do you have a barn, brewery, etc that needs a cat manager to keep it pest-free? Please reach out!
Warrick is a super sweet dude who is very affectionate when he gets his way, but hasn’t seemed to thrive with the rules, cages, and big purrsonalities at the cafe/shelter. While we love and want to respect his free spirit, us and the shelter want him to stay safe and cared for as well. Thus, it’s been decided that he would be best as a “working cat”!
Working cats prefer less snuggles and more space. They thrive in environments like barns, stables, or workshops, where they can roam, hunt, and just be themselves. In return, they’ll keep your property pest-free! They do require that you provide care, shelter, food, and water.
In addition to the wonderful Warrick, the APL has tons of other working cat friends looking for their next adventure too. If you miss out on Warrick, check out Lurk, Crow, Bones, Alien, Yellowstone, Badlands, Petrified Forest, Shenandoah, Glacier, and Capitol Reef!
With the exception of Warrick, all of these kitties are cat social and have done well hanging out with each other. If you’re looking for a friend for your cat and not necessarily you, they can go to a home as well. Warrick was also fine with chill cats at the cafe, but didn’t enjoy big purrsonalities.
Stop in to meet these special felines asap! 🐱🐾
(We’re aren’t sure exactly where Warrick has been placed over at the main shelter, so be sure to ask the staff for him by name if you don’t spot him! He’s worth it! 😻)

Sapphire wants to join your holiday party!
Don’t let her naked chicken look fool you, Sapphire’s got the confidence to pull it off! She is a bossy lady who isn’t afraid to communicate what she wants. While Sapphire may take a little time to decide that you’re cool enough to pet her, she’ll let you entertain her with fun wand toys in the meantime. You’d also better find her some treats and a window to observe her domain, she deserves only the best! 👑

SNOW DAY!
We’re short-staffed this week already, and all pre-booked guests cancelled their reservations for today, so we’re just going to take it as a sign to close. (Don’t worry, a couple of us have still come to care for the cats! 😺)
Stay safe and keep warm, we look forward to seeing you tomorrow! 💖

Bubba is our longest tenured cat here at the cafe! He's incredibly sweet with staff, he just doesn't like strangers all that much.

Don't worry, we're just getting a rise out of you. He was released after we finished cleaning!
Come meet him before he gets scooped up! We have lots of spots open this week and spooky decorations to put you in a festive mood!

As Cleveland’s first cat cafe, affoGATO’s mission is to improve our city by creating a safe, comfortable haven for adoptable cats, cultivating a fun and inclusive space for cat-lovers to work and play, and teaming up with other local businesses and artists for the betterment of the community as a whole.
For our commonly asked questions, such as how reservations work, our policy on children, employment info, and where the cats come from, CLICK HERE.
We provide a safe home for adoptable cats. You can then pay a small cover charge to relax, work, and enjoy coffee and snacks with these friendly felines. We partner with several local businesses and artists in order to host fun, unique events and produce food, drinks, and merchandise.

Cat cafes like affoGATO aren’t just a fun place to visit. They actually have important benefits for rescue cats, people, and the community, too!
Benefits for Cats
Gets cats out of cages and into a fun, open space with lots of playtime and snuggling.
Cats that don’t photograph well can meet potential adopters face-to-face.
Cats that are no longer in a scary cage can open up and show off their true personality.
More cats can be rescued! When we host a cat, it frees up a space in our source shelter. And when one of our guests chooses to adopt, we get to celebrate twice! Not only does that cat have a safe, loving home, but now we can help another cat in need!
Meet the cats here!
Benefits for People
Cats are good for your health and happiness! Studies show that they can reduce stress, heart issues, loneliness, and can even help you recover from grief more quickly.
Our space is flexible to fit your needs. Get in your workout with a yoga class, let the quiet space and caffeine get you in the zone to telework or study, or just enjoy some chill time with cat cuddles.
Cat cafes are great for people who can’t own cats. Some common reasons are dorm or apartment rules, an allergic family member, lack of funds, or frequent travel. Here, you can just spoil them, commitment-free!
Thinking of adopting? Cats’ personalities shine when they’re happy. At affoGATO, you can hang out and get to know all of the cats in a cozy, home-like setting before picking your new bestie.
Benefits for the Community
It’s hard for local businesses to compete with big name brands. We work to support our community by sourcing as much as we can locally, and working with local instructors, performers, etc., for our events. Meet the locals we work with here!
An inclusive event space. We are a wheelchair accessible space, and will be actively seeking to host programming for diverse ages, income levels, special needs, and more. If you’re kind to cats and kind to other people, then you’re welcome here.
