On a small scale farm like ours, all of our vegetables are washed by hand. For 15 seasons, that has occurred exclusively outdoors! With our new building under construction, we expect this to be the last November for outdoor beet washing and packing. Hooray!

So far this year we have made 23 weekly produce donations to the Food as Medicine Clinic! These radishes, green peppers, and baby kale were just a few of the items we delivered this week.

This Fall CSA Week 3 box included jalapeno peppers, sunflower shoots, carrots, baby mustard greens, bell peppers, baby kale, eggplant, mini romaine lettuce, and golden beets. We're already halfway through our 6 week fall program!

Sasha, our visiting apprentice from , spent the month of October getting to know our farm and our team and made this wonderful artwork representing the last week of our CSA program in each of the languages spoken on the farm. Part of the ASLF apprenticeship includes making and sharing some form of art about the experience, and in addition to making this piece Sasha has also taken some fantastic photos that we will be sharing in the coming days. Our 6-week Fall CSA program kicks off this morning as members visit the farm to pick up their red boxes of fresh veggies. This week's shares are packed full of autumn greens, root vegetables and more including lettuce mix, scallions, beets, mixed baby braising greens, radishes, carrots, and green beans. (Not all boxes will contain the same items.) What would you make with this haul?

As soon as this maple tree turns orange every year, it's time for our Fall CSA shares to begin! 100 households will visit the farm to pick up boxes of our fresh veggies and herbs each Saturday for the next 6 weeks. We are absolutely loving this nice weather for fall farm clean up, and we're also loving that we have an extra set of hands helping out this month. Sasha, an intern from , is so much more than helpful hands, bringing such a lovely kind spirit to our team while she has been here working and learning with us for the month of October. ASLF coordinates paid apprenticeships for young adults interested in sustainable farming and we are lucky to be a host farm for the second year. The future of farming is bright!

10 veggies to celebrate the 20th week of our CSA season! This Whole Share included lettuce mix, carrots, garlic, patty pan squash, scallions, cucumber, mini bok choy, golden beets, eggplant, and bell peppers.

A successful year of CSA farming is possible thanks to a good bit of luck, a lot of hard work by our team, and incredible support from our community. Today marks the 20th consecutive week of distributing 280 CSA boxes to Clevelanders who signed up to use their food dollars to support our farm and to eat a whole lot of fresh vegetables this year! Our farm team will now transition to a slightly slower pace for the next 6 weeks as we distribute 100 shares per week to members of our Fall CSA program. Thank you so much to everyone who has been a part of making another year of farming possible for our team--we love and appreciate you!

This week we're preparing for our final share distribution for the regular season CSA, which means Fall Shares begin next week! If you signed up to be a member, you should have received an email in the past week with all the details. If you think you signed up but didn't receive an email, check your spam folder then reach out to Rachel @ resourcecleveland.org (remove the spaces) as soon as possible. We've got 6 more weeks of local veggie goodness coming your way!

While we're all dodging raindrops (and sleet??!) today in Cleveland, here's a little construction update for the future Roundstone Pavilion, our farm building which will contain a farm store, kitchen, space to wash/pack/distribute produce, and restrooms/break room facilities for our team. In this photo you can see the concrete footers have been poured, marking the outline of the building's shape.

Week 19 shares have gone home with our CSA members and we now have just one more week of our regular season shares remaining. Pictured in the Whole Share above: collard greens, cucumbers, mint, beets, cherry tomatoes, green beans, carrots, cilantro, romaine, bell peppers, radishes, and this year's honey share! Our hives are maintained by and the honey harvest is split between our CSA members each year.

A whole wagon load of mini romaine about to be prepped and packed for this week's CSA boxes. 🥬 One thing's for sure: joining a CSA will make you eat plenty of leafy greens! Many farms in northeast Ohio had their first frosts today but due to our close proximity to Lake Erie we typically don't see a hard frost for a bit longer. Bring on the fall salads!
