It’s Hip to Chip🏠🐾

May is Microchip Awareness Month!

More pets go missing on July 4th than any other day. It is estimated that 1 in 3 pets will go missing in their lifetime. Without permanent identification, 90% of those lost pets will not return home.

This month, we are pleased to offer HomeAgain Microchipping and Lifetime Enrollment for only $38.50!

With the beautiful weather coming, we hope you and your furry friend will be out enjoying the sunshine. However, dogs can slip out of collars and cats can sneak through closing doors. Microchipping gives your pet a permanent identification number that is registered to you, which increases the odds that you will be reunited with your furry family member. Our HomeAgain microchips cover your pet for their entire life, unlike other subscription services, and can be scanned by any universal scanner. Microchipping does not hurt your pet, require surgery, or wear out, but does give your pet the best chance of coming back to you!

Heartworm disease is a life-threatening condition, but fortunately, it is easily prevented. It only takes one bite from an infected mosquito to spread the heartworm parasite to your pet. It migrates through the bloodstream and settles in the heart, arteries, and lungs, where the adult worms can live for up to 7 years. Dogs and cats of all ages and breeds are at risk; a monthly, year-round pill or topical medication is an affordable way to make sure your pet is safe from heartworm. Some products also protect against other harmful parasites, such as intestinal worms, fleas, ticks, or mites. A simple blood test can confirm that your pet is heartworm-free. Then, depending on your lifestyle, the proper prevention will be chosen!

March is Intestinal Parasite Awareness Month!

Drop off a f***l sample to us during the month of March and receive $5 off!

There are five common parasites that dogs and cats can share with each other and your family. Most parasites can be found in sandboxes, dirt, potting soil, and grass. These parasites are released through an animal’s f***s and their eggs can live in an environment for months. Intestinal parasites and Giardia can be detected by visiting your veterinarian at least once a year for a f***l exam.
It is recommended that puppies, kittens, and pets not on prevention should be tested for intestinal parasites 2-4 times a year.
Adult dogs and cats taking prevention should be tested 1-2 times a year.

Keep those Canines Clean 🦷🐾

February is Pet Dental Health Month!

Did you know, when plaque accumulates and tartar forms on your pet’s teeth, bacteria can then travel in the bloodstream of your pet, causing not only a painful mouth, but other problems, such as heart, kidney, and liver disease? It is vital to the health of your pet that a routine dental care program be implemented. It’s never too early or late to begin routine dental care at home. Teach your puppy or kitten that getting their teeth brushed is a fun game with yummy, vet-approved toothpaste. If your pet already has tartar buildup, then the first step is to call our office and schedule a dental examination. If a cleaning is necessary, anesthesia is required for proper charting and evaluation of periodontal disease as x-rays help us evaluate the tooth root under the gum-line; rotting or damaged teeth may need to be extracted. We use the same ultrasonic scaler and polisher that human dentists use! After the cleaning, the teeth will be free of hard tartar buildup, and you can begin routine care at home.
